No more TPS for general public :(

Featured Replies

Well it was good until lasted, for few years i have been getting oil and filters from TPS in Shrewsbury, and now it has come to the end. Called there last week and the really good guys who work there have informed me that they no longer sell to joe-public. Stop has been placed apparently by VW UK. Where now for Quantum oli?

Alternative is Eurocarparts now, but i really preferred TPS.

Easy - get yourself some business cards made up saying you are a mobile mechanic

So what you are saying is, for some one like me who has not got quite round to finding where my local TPS is - forget it!

I had always thought that I’d be asked to leave the building and that some people were just lucky.

Time to check out eBay for a John Bull printing set?

I have been told that it needs to be a registered business like a garage and have an account with them VAT number etc. I see their van often doing deliverise to the local garages. So fake business cards ain't gonna get you filter and oil, I think.

Yes, I seem to remember that sort of thing when I thought that I could reg with them years ago, which was why I had always expected to get shamed and directed to the exit!

There will be other Local Motor Factors that will appreciate the business.

Trade Parts in the name often gives the idea to who they are servicing.

If nobody wants to sell at good prices to the public across the counter then they soon learn the power of the Internet, Amazon / Ebay and others.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.  Do not rip off the paying public.

I sold Quantum oil from our VW/Audi dealership 30 years ago. Have they stopped this?

Although having said that it would be more expensive than TPS.

Bill :)

No no I’d expect all VW Group dealerships still sell Quantum products.

I use EuroCarParts.  They have always been great.  I needed a battery for my wife's Megane in the winter.  I was working so she went along in my car.  One of the guys checked it was the right one, carried it to the car and safely stowed it in the boot for her.  Took me 10 mins to fit later.  Price was awesome too - they had a massive sale on, so I think I got 50% off list, making the brand name battery (Bosch I think) cheaper than the Halfords own brand by a lot.
