What have you done to your Superb III today?

Featured Replies

My car has gone for service at Skoda today.

I mentioned to them that last week I locked the car and walked away. I went back to the car 5 minutes later and the rear passenger door was open, but yet there was no alarm.

Skoda have called me back just now to tell me that this is normal. If you lock the car with a door wide open, you are not given a warning/beep. This can't be right can it? wtf?

@newbie69 I plan to write a tutorial with much details. Would that help? 😁

I have to say that some points are not very detailed indeed. Juste a single example: I've spent more thant 45mn to try to understand how to remove this $%µ@&#  pump connector, whereas simply removing the 2 fixing screws of the Haldex control unit, enable you to disconnect the pump in less than 2mn... Not said/written anywhere... 🙄

It's a job I am looking to do myself, but don't have easy access to to VCDS as I understand you have to run the pump after re-fitting?

Cleaned the inside of all 4 door apertures with a vinegar cleaner and the kitchen towel paper I used to wipe away the grime looked like crushed coal dipped in water.......disgusting. Should have done this small job in late March to remove the winter grime but being a black car it sort of hides the dirt on the inside. Now I can appreciate the sparkly Black Magic paint when I open any door now. I tend to clean the boot aperture more often as I see it every time the boot is opened (electrically of course). Noticed the lettering of Superb is not of a very high quality on all 4 door sill protectors compared to my 2017 Octavia Vrs though.

It's not as soft as you'd imagine and some brands can be a major source of micro-scratching!

Well it's soft enough to wipe my arse in an emergency without leaving micro-scratches and one sheet is plenty without advertising the product.

One that works for me... I have a small drying towel and a woolly mammoth for drying the car after washing. I use the small one until pretty well soaked, then after finishing drying the exterior with the woolly mammoth I use the small towel to clean all the shuts. Agree with @john999boy re paper towels - and paint doesn't self-heal in the same way human body parts do😄.

I can't ever think when I've been so hard pressed to use kitchen paper towels in an emergency - but my aboloutions may be different from yours?

During the Pandemic when people were bulk buying toilet rolls like they were gold or copper bars you may have needed to use cheaper kitchen towel rather than go without. Fortunately we were well stocked when the idiots hit the shops and cleared the shelves.

Oh come on you jumped in panic buying 98 rolls wasn't it? And you say one sheet is enough so that makes you look even sillier than before!

Looks like our delayed holiday from April is not going to happen in October and they have promised to return my £3,300 by next week. Love to loan you some but looks like it will be Tenerife now for 2 weeks instead as no quarantine required.

In the last little while

14/7 - I had my 2018 My19 Sportline 280 delivered (demo with <5,000km), this one is to be a long term keeper for me.

15/7 - replaced the space saver with a used full sized 19" alloy and tyre from a 2017 wreck

21/7 - Serviced by my specialist shop @ 5,300km, revised engine coding to Audi and replaced the OEM brake pads with ATE ceramics

22/7 - System X Diamond super slick ceramic paint coating applied to body & wheels

Today head off on a 1,200 km round trip for a drive to visit a mate on some quiet country roads and explore the cars capabilities 😇

30/7 - OEM towbar to be fitted by the dealer

Then I can move to source a rear ARB likely with some Eibach springs and prioritise next steps

Happy days

Cheers chris

Is Tenerife classed as part of Spain? If so be wary as there has been a big spike in Spain and they are considering a quarantine for anyone returning.

At the same time they are considering opening an air bridge to Portugal! Bloody politically motivated decisions. Keep the economy going and screw the people

Looks like we may return to Cape Verde 6 hours flight south to a country that gained independence from Portugal in 1975 and it is poor place having visited a school on our last trip there in 2015 and you pay 20 Euro's each Tourist tax on arrival to help provide the children under 11 with free school meals so it is good to give something back when on holiday. Two weeks all inclusive for 2 of us is £2,600 currently about the same we paid 5 years ago so decent value for money. RUI Hotels dominate Boa Vista and they are generally a very high quality.

Sounds great, and I’m all for giving something back 👍 enjoy and stay safe

Lol, you're asking the wrong person :D

I mean, if we're not here for writing our own tutorials on every work we do on the car, what are we doing??

I'd love one yes!

@newbie69 and for all AWD Superb 3 owners:

I've just released the tutorial to change the Haldex oil on your own:

Enjoy! 😎😉

Thanks for that! Seems like a great and detailed write-up! Will look into later on but it's already saved for my next year's maintenance ;)

@newbie69 You're welcome! Once you have read it, feel free to ask questions or to make some feedbacks. ;)

I've also written a tutorial to change the brake fluid for a french Skoda forum... May be I'll translate it in English, if it can help some Superb owner over here... 😁

Sure, it's just gonna take a few months before I attempt this so stick around till next year please just in case :D

Regarding brake fluid, I plan on putting together a better/bigger brake kit for my 272 soon. I am in the process of finalizing the components (actually I'll open a thread for input, never hurts) and I have questions regarding the bleeding process of the brakes. Might PM you then!

OK. Feel free to ask! ;)

If you want to change the brake fluid easily, one good tip, is to buy this kind of pressure filling system:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sfeomi-Capacity-Pneumatic-Bleeding-Replacement/dp/B082TWBDWC/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1QWHT45AY5D0U&dchild=1&keywords=brake+fluid+bleeder+kit&qid=1595803961&sprefix=brake+fluid+b%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-7

I've bought one, and that's really easy and efficient to use! :)

Yeah that's the one I've seen used in videos so I guess I'll have to get one, will be handy for future brake fluid changes too
