@Katarsis how did you remove the mirrors? I tried to pry them out with a wooden spatula but it wouldn’t move. I was too afraid to break it.
I’m now planning to wait until Monday when I change my tires at the dealer and ask them to change the covers as well.

I did get real carbon fiber ones and can’t wait to see them fitted as they look pretty nice 😜

Wow! Where did you find them?

I just pulled with my fingers. You have to pull much harder than you think. One of mine was very hard to get off.

But after that it's smooth sailing.

I got them here: https://www.diversionautomotive.com/products/genuine-carbon-fibre-replacement-mirror-covers-for-skoda-octavia-superb-kodiaq-karoq-kamiq?_pos=1&_sid=5922644ab&_ss=r

I think I waited for nearly two months! But it was worth it.

If I manage to fit my fingers behind the mirror I’ll give it another try, thanks :)

New battery today.

After 3 failures to start over the last 9 months & countless re-charge & trickle charge sessions I finally caved & got a new battery. Of course this is no longer a DIY job on a modern car because the car has to be re-coded after fitting the new battery & I do not have any suitable diagnostic tools - why would I? So annoying that even the simplest of jobs on most cars are now beyond the competent DIYER.

After searching around I finally decided to go with Kwik Fit who charged £184 fitted & coded & they had a branch less than 1.5 miles from me & did it while I waited.

All good.

The guy who fitted my battery had to take the car for a run to clear all the residual faults on mine. When he returned he asked what the hell I had done to the car because it was "so $£$%^&% quick". He he. I just love it when the whole sleeper image of this car surprises someone. Made me smile all the way home.

The former owner left some marks on the rims. We don't like that do we?

I'm going to go over it at least one more time.

Aren't those L&K wheels diamond cut?

How are your re-finishing them?

I've got 4 that need doing as well but will need to have done at a specialist @£83 each corner!

I see your wheel emblems are still looking OK. I'm on my 2nd set & have switched to plain black (no emblem) ones which hopefully won't corrode as the previous sets did.

I have no idea what diamond cut rims are. I used som good old fashion sandpaper and then finished it off with a polishing wheel on the Power drill.

Humm. Let's see some more pics when you've finished.

Is there not a Lacquer over the top?

Yes there is.

Diamond cut alloys have tiny concentric lathe tool marks on the face of the wheel. I've seen a few YT videos of guys re-finishing diamond cut alloys where they basically polish out the curb marks & the diamond cut marks & turn the wheel into a smooth finish instead of a diamond cut finish which is what I guess you are doing.

Yesterday I had my Superb's first service done in my ownership, at 143500km and also got front + rear sway bars installed, which made a huge difference, as well as upgraded footrest and pedals from superskoda. The sway bars made a huge difference in handling and body roll, which was the only complaint I had compared to my previous car, a Kia Stinger, and the upgraded footrest and pedals just are a better feel in general. Also found out that my previous ice track adventure and one bigger roadtrip with friends and their 10 cars meant that I now have worn out rest of the 40% I had left on front brake pads and discs so need to get them changed, considering getting a combination of TRW / Zimmermann / Brembo combination in some way.

Now I need to decide whether I want summer rims in 19" or just swap out the 18"s to summers and then the car is ready to get tuned to stage 1.

Which brand sway bars?

Swapped my wheels from winter to summer set, also fitted turbo inlet pipe and intake hose😎 wheels have 15mm spacers all round... To me thats how they supposed to be from factory...

Have you got an exhaust yet Mario?

Did you notice any difference with the elbow fitted?

It's ordered and being made in Germany😎 can't wait...another 2-3 weeks

Haven't had a chance to try it properly but so far I've noticed deeper intake sound but not extremely noticeable and more responsive throttle...i would like to think that the car now pulls a bit more but that could also be down to summer tyres being on now as with winters on dry road there was quite a bit of resistance... Will report in few days time once i give it few beans😇

Which make of Turbo inlet pipe & elbow did you go for & where from?

I'm considering this myself at some point.

You may need some mud flaps for those spaced out wheels to help protect the body from road grime. Looks like 15mm is about the max spacer width the wheel arch can accommodate.

The intake hose pipe was MTC motorsport and turbo inlet unbranded but i have to say that next time i would pay bit more money as the fit of either of those items were ****. Intake hose was probably not even for this engine so i ended up cutting it and inlet elbow the bit where PCV pipe connects was about 1/4 mm too long for it to clip into place so ended up grinding it off🙈

With regards to mudflaps I'm not too worried as i only use the superb in dry weather. Otherwise I'm using company car😝

But did think about some sort of PPF for lower parts....

Oh they can accommodate more alright ;)

New splitter fitted after the original one gave way at speed. I think i prefer the look of the new one and it should be a bit safer at speed bumps!

That sounds like a bit of a mare...I think I'll be looking at engine specific Racingline, Revo & others induction kits to avoid the agro you had.

Right, i can gladly confirm that I've binned it all that crap...been out for a drive gave it good pushing and car drove like ****...so definitely lesson learnt...buy cheap buy twice. Had similar story with Ramair induction kit on my mk2 vrs....ended up selling it 2 weeks later.

I know I'm probably hacked off now but I'm going to leave air intake/turbo inlets for time being. Waiting for cat back system from Germany and then jb4 that will be me...well i always say it😂
