My bad day

Featured Replies

The area where the accident took place is right in the middle of a retail outlet village, its not really the kind of place a responsible drive hoons around at speeds capable of damaging railings like that. Fair enough it is dual carriageway but this is probably to aid traffic flow at busy times rather than allow high speed driving.

Put CH65 9LA into Google earth and you'll see the place (though not exact location) where the crash was.

People who drive wrecklessly in 30mph zones deserve to crash.

Have they updated it to show the skidmarks and damaged railings yet? ;)

Chris

No one got hurt and he is learning by his mistake

is he? the original post included

" make sure you watch it all  "

which in my mind equates to "oh. aren't i cool - i've crashed my car"

it's his car in the video's and they all look like controlled conditions

I don't call handbraking round a corner on a public road controlled conditions. I'm not to impressed by the car park antics either. These are still public areas, evn if this was late at night.

he broke his car and his insurance renewall will be affected

he's Got insurance' date=' Tax, MOT,

so why be so nasty.

[/quote']

because he seemed to be trying to get kudos rather than sympathy from the afair

this sort of reaction from everyone slagging him off, is more likely to make him feel F*** Y** and drive even more like a loon.

That's his decission. Let's hope next time it's not more serious

Mainly to aid getting in and out of car parks (ie. queue in left hand lane to turn into a car park doesn't stuff up whole traffic flow).

Probably pretty quiet at 23:00...though I do wonder just how much speed would have to be carried off a roundabout to do that sort of damage to the railing...or indeed where a random oil patch would appear from...

Rob.

:wrthless: of the oil patch !

Oil patch??

Am not commenting on the rights and wrongs of the accident...............but when I think back to the way I drove as a 18 year old I'm lucky I'm posting here now and not pushing up the daisies in Callander New Cemetery.

I had an old 1600cc Triumph Vitesse with a storming 70 bhp on a good day. If I'd had anything with real power I'd be dead now. I was lucky - lots of near misses, but my first accident was on black ice at the tender age of 28 in a 323i BMW - and that happened at all of 10mph and was almost unavoidable!

I have now matured..........................:D :D

:wrthless: of the oil patch !

Found it:

Rob.

No wonder he found it slippery.

One question that springs to mind is, since the car was modified - is the insurance company aware of these mods otherwise he could have a very costly repair bill.

Now where's my stirrer :D

holy hell what have i started?

tbh i only got annoyed with the bloke for his outright and obviously lying whilst looking for sympathy, trying to blame it on some one else or bad conditions when really it was down to him driving like a tit.

hada brief PM session with whelen last night and i actually admittted to having accidents myself  shock horror!!

just suggesting a bit of honesty in the future as it will not wind people up.

the situation Jason was totally different as he didn't try and blaim it on rabbit poo or a couple of black birds flying past and distracting him or something. he came on and said bloody hell lads i got it wrong and rolled my car!

fair play to him for doing it too.

i might even post my PM exactly as it appears if people so wish/care :)

Re: thanks
thanks for the agro.

there are more factors to the reason why i crashed but i cannot say due to reprisal's. sorry

not trying to give agro chap' date=' just don't like it when people come on looking for sympathy when they have had an accident that looks extremely doubtful that they were totally blameless and claim to have been driving like a saint. sorry if you don't like my honesty but thats all it is.

if you had started by saying oh **** guys i got it wrong and have f****d my car by crashing it into the barrier then you would get a lot more sympathy for being honest.

i do honestly hope you get it sorted and take a lesson in being a bit more careful behind the wheel, i know i did by making mistakes, i'm the first person to say that i drove like a complete maniac a few years ago and it scares me to drive at 75% of the speed in my octavia compared to the 1.3 metro i used to drive a few years ago.

don't take it to heart mate as i don't wish you any hard feelings, take it on the chin own up and learn from your mistakes.[/quote']

Bloomin kids and fancy pants fabias. These cars are for shopping, not fun:rofl:

Get an octavia and tartan rug like us old uns:D

Must be the new saxo:rolleyes:

;) ;) ;)

If its a write off I know a man who is after a damaged vRS Fabia for a rally project.

let us know what happens

Whelan - sorry to hear this has happened' date=' but I know Cheshire Oaks well - I live about 25mins away. Your details of the incident don't seem to make sense to me, however, unless I'm getting the location of the incident wrong. You can of course ignore this, but it may help you if you're honest with yourself over what happened, don't worry what everyone on here thinks, that's not important really, in the scheme of things.

Did the incident happen down the straight that's off to the left from MacDonald's? The first exit on the left that leads out of the complex towards Sainsbury's? Or was it the second exit, straight on, heading down towards the cinema?

I'm genuinely interested and this might also help you analyse what went wrong and move on. I know when I've had incidents in the past I always play through what happended in the weeks and months afterwards (only natural I think) and from this try to use it to make sure I improve, and that the same things doesn't happen again.

Best of luck with everything.

Ste,

I've looked at the pics and read the 'supposed' version of the accident and here are 'MY' views.

Pics look as if he was travelling towards cinema and the accident looks if it happened after the turn in for the car park next to 'Gap'.

The turn in must be at least 40 yards from the roundabout,so one hell of a skid if he was braking on the roundabout.

Gutted for you mate. You only got the wheels and bits a short time ago iirc.

Glad no one was hurt.

*RANT MODE -

FFS you do gooders' date=' just because he has posted some footage of himself having some fun in his car, it doesn't automatically mean he always drives fast, or with copious (and with very good precision I might add) use of the hand brake.

Anyone, and I mean anyone can have an accident, thats why they are accidents.

If some of you have an unblemished driving record, great. It doesnt matter a toss to anybody but you.

Having seen all of the other videos, nowhere can I see any danger areas. The bit on the public road, was clearly speeded up for effect, and the camera, and a mate to use said camera presumably, would have warned of any oncomung danger.

If you yourself have never had some fun on an EMPTY car park/industrial estate, then that doesnt mean that everyone who does deserves, or is expected to have an accident.

Lighten up.

Some of you have a very narrow minded view on some things.

I'm looking forward to posting my video on google soon. That should give you something to have a rant about.

You have my sympathy mate, but as the details aren't too clear, I will retract my sympathy if it turns out you were being silly.

What Video? (surely not THAT video?)

although THAT video would explain the sudden lack of grip :rubchin:

No, it's not the alleged video. Blimey, keeps rearing it's head doesnt it. (no pun intended).

It's a v max video. Should get a few in house keyboard warriors going ;)

he is a safe driver i have seen him in his video's :hyper:

sorry to drag up the past mate' date=' no offence intended towards you.

Pot calling the kettle black m'thinks :o[/quote']

Sorry, reading through this thread I am not sure who the pot is nor the kettle that your referring too. Didnt realise jason had been having a go.

Also you will notice that Jason started a thread and was honest about what happened. He also didnt make a music video to accompany it, so I dont feel there's much comparison.

Unless of course your trying to prove that if whelen had come on here and posted an honest thread, he might have got more compassion from everyone.

I'm saying no more. :)

I never had a go at Whelan, for the record. And I still think my tactic of keeping quiet was best, although given the circumstances of my incident it was in everyone's interest, especially the forum. :)

I am soiling my pants in anticipation. And warming up my fingers at the same time.

Exactly

I was in no way trying to drag Jason into this thread or indicate that he is a wreckless maniac  (sorry couldnt resist mate ;)).

Any update Whelan as to whether the car is repairable, and out of interest (PM me if you want) are your insurance company aware of your modifications?

Chris.
