Some common VAG-COM Options for the FABIA.

Common operations

ANTI HIJACK

The anti hijack is a superb feature....

[select]

[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)

[Adaptation - 10]

Channel (03..08)

Adaptation Value (1 = on, 0 = off)

[save]

Channel 03 Auto Lock

Channel 04 Auto Unlock

Channel 05 Unlock, horn sounds

Channel 06 Lock, horn sounds

Channel 07 Unlock, turn signals flash

Channel 08 Lock, turn signals flash

Remember to do a scan of the module on each one to find out what each channel is, prior to making any changes as some cars beep is channel 7, not channel 6.

SINGLE DOOR UNLOCK

[select]

[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)

[Recode - 07]

Write down the existing coding for future reference.

Enter 5-digit code from below

[Do It!]

Look at the existing Soft. Coding. If you have selective unlocking (press the unlock button on the remote once to open the driver's door, twice to open all the doors) the last digit of your coding should be an even number. To make all doors unlock, add 1 to the coding.

So, if you have a 2-door 2002 GTI that is coded for selective unlocking (00064) add one to make it 00065 so that all doors unlock with one press of the unlock button.

POWER STEERING

[select]

[44 - Steering Assist] (from Chassis tab)

[Recode - 07]

Take note of the value which is in the form 0001x1 where x is the weight setting, eg 000121

If x is set to 1, it will be very light, if it is set to 5 it will be heavy

Replace the number with the required weight, eg 000151

[Do It!]

HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT: (Xenon only)

[select]

[55 - H. Light Range]

[basic Settings - 04]

Set channel to "000"

[Do It!]

Wait about 20 seconds

Manually adjust headlamps

[Done, Go back]

EGR DISABLING

With the engine warmed up and running at idle in neutral with all major accessories such as air conditioning turned off, connect the scan tool cable and start the scan tool software.

[01 - Engine]

[Login - 11] and enter 12233 as the access code

[Adaptation] and go to block 3.

Give the accelerator pedal a quick "blip" to ensure that the EGR remains turned on for the next minute while you perform the following steps.

Note that the display shows a default adaptation value of 32768 and shows approximately 250 +/- 20 mg/stroke of air intake volume.

If all is well, enter 33768 as the new adaptation value, and select "test". Note that the displayed air intake volume changes, usually to about 370 mg/stroke. The specification limit is 370 mg/stroke, so if you want to remain within OEM shop manual specifications for emission control reasons, you might have to enter a number slightly smaller than 33768. (If you don't care about road-legal NOx emission limits then leave it at 33768. [Depending on the usage cycle, NOx at this setting can be increased by as much as 40%]) If all is well and you have a seting that you are happy with which results in an intake air volume of 370 mg/stroke or just a hair less, enter [save]. The values aren't exactly the same, but when you enter the value 33768, the ECU will automatically adapt it. In my case it was something like 33628. 370mg/stroke is what your looking for.

As said by the master

The heater reset is easy to do, as follows.

08 Heater/A.C

04 Basic settings

Channel 000

001

002

When it goes into a channel let it run until the numbers stop moving. The numbers mean the flap is moving from one stop to the other. Should at the end read 0. Then clear any fault codes.

Indeed - I did this very thing when rewiring in my heating system ( for the second time  )

Is the channel 5 and 6 bit in the anti-hijack section the "beep" when locking/unlocking that Hellfire was on about in the other thread? Good to know for the future if it is.

This is digging up an old thread. But does anyone know what actually does go beep?

I'm off to the dealers tomorrow and am going to (fingers crossed), get them to program the car for anti-hijack, non selective door unlocking, pull out the key and all of the doors unlock and possible a beep for the unlock as long as it is not the full on horn!

Is there a way to enable the door open warning on the MaxiDot? Mine isn't switching on and displaying the door open warning. Thanks.

Hi all, I've have a Skoda Fabida (HTP 70).

Have just been playing with my Vag-com for the first time and have a few queries.

I did the one door unlock as suggested above - worked brilliantly, so thanks for that.

What is the anti-hijack feature and what does it actually do?

Also what are the advantages of disable EGR? Surely it assists your engine to warm up faster thus helping with engine life and apparently also with MPG? So why would you want to disable it?

Finally does anybody know the command to reset my external temp sensor, as it's never worked!

Anti-hijack (Autolock) When the car reaches 15 Kph the doors automatically lock and remain locked until you press the unlock button or pull the interior lever or if auto-unlock is enabled, The ignition key is removed from the barrel!

HTH!

Re the steering assistance weights........................

The correct values/meanings as per VCDS are as follows...

Soft code number/value = xxx?x .........

? = 1 = Heavy vehicle (normal weight of steering assist)...(heavy vehicle would mean a heavy diesel or estate version)

? = 2 = Sporty vehicle (GTI/RS)...(standard setting for the VRS)

? = 3 = Heavy vehicle (as per (1) but with increased steering assist at low speeds to aid parking)

? = 4 = Light vehicle (normal weight of steering assist)...(light vehicle would mean a petrol engine or hatch version)

? = 5 = Light vehicle (as per (4) but with increased steering assist at low speeds to aid parking)

? = 6 = Handicap setting (heavily increased steering assist at all speeds)

The most assistance is given by (6), and the least assistance by (4)

On a light car setting the value to 1 will give more assistance, conversely on a heavy car setting the value to 4 will give less assistance.

Re the single press unlock.....

The correct values/meanings as per VCDS are as follows...

00016 = Central locking without electric windows installed

00064 = Central locking with electric front windows installed

00256 = Central locking with electric front and rear windows installed

Then add 00002 as the Fabia is a four door car.

This gives you a "base code" for your car with "selective" (two button press) unlocking.

To have "selective locking inactive" (one button press) unlocking add 00001 to the base code.

For example:

Fabia with central locking and electric front windows = 00064 + 00002 = 00066 this gives you factory default selective unlocking. For one button press unlocking = 00064 + 00002 + 00001 = 00067

Indicator flash

The one touch on my 2007 Fabia vRS can be adjusted between 0 and 5 flashes. VCDS (VAG-COM) reports that the range 0-255 is available, but only 0-5 are accepted.

To adjust one touch, select:

09 - Central Elect

Adaptation - 10

Ch 6

The default value is 3 (flashes). I changed that to 0 which turned one touch off. The maximum number of flashes which can be set is 5.

Just to clarify, this turning down of the egr is done to improve running without doing the full delete modification? I have the 9mm gasket that I was intending to drill out a little, does it also remove the need for that or would the gasket still help?

I don't have major issues with mine, just the occasional slight stutter in higher gears around 1800rpm. Would just turning it down with adaptation also help with that?

Cheers

For those users that want to help make VCDS even better then please feel free to e-mail Ross-Tech a copy of your Auto-Scan

If there are no descriptions in the ‘Coding’ long code then Admaps would also be useful... Ross-Tech can then include further information in new software releases.

Hi Guys,

I'm having an issue with version 17.1.3, I want to change the country from GB to AUS so I can get the large MPH displayed in main window instead of KPH, when I go into the control module 17 - instruments, then 07 - coding , then long code helper - change it to AUS, exit and go to "DO IT", it states that it has coding accepted but when I look at the maxidot it still is at GB settings. if I go back into the modules again, sure enough it has stayed on GB... any ideas??? very frustrating... autoscan (manual) below. When I open module 17 it shows this pop up bubble with this file missing EV_KombiU_DS_VDD_RM09" (VW36 *). the >ROD file for my Skoda is there but it asks for a VW one??? is this possibly a version issue?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The Train Driver.
