When folding the rear seats, you must remove the headrest, raise and drop the benches behind the drivers/passengers seats allowing the seat uprights to fold flat.

Q - What do you do with the headrests?

A - There are 2 holes in the yellow foam on both sides of the benches - only visible once they have been put in the position highlighted above. They are made to measure for the headrests to slot in!

Go on......fold your seat flat and give it a go!!

Got a mk 2 so not sure about that... yet! I have just put them under the front seats, on the rear footwells as they fit fine but next time, I will try that one!

Also, you can just squeeze the retaining bars to the benches together, and just remove them altogether! great when carrying loads around. I just put them in the garage til I finished. That gives you more space.

In the MK2, you can place the parcel shelf in three seperate positions.... the standard one, a bit lower, where there is a lower set of "Lugs" to take it, usefull for slightly larger heavier items on the shelf. And a slot just behind the seats, to keep it safe out of the way when carrying slightly taller loads and you need the space the shelf takes up. It then just sits safely behind the seats, out of harms way.

Another little thing i noticed was that when you have your front windscreen wipers on and put the car in reverse it automatically clears your rear screen for you!

Just an observation - the headed mirrors are only activated with the heated rear screen............

Just an observation - the headed mirrors are only activated with the heated rear screen............

nope.

they work independently in the central position on the adjuster stick with the rear

screen off..

Not on late cars :)

On early cars they were independent of the rear window as I found out :)

Not sure if this has been said but on my '11 vRS if you hold the unlock button on the key all four windows open up and if you hold lock they all close again.

If your tyre pressures drop and you're left with a light on your dash there's a button down by the handbrake that makes the light go away.

If you have MDI you can get a large USB powered hard drive (~500GB or so) and format it to FAT32 and then have your entire music collection in your car.

If you're driving with DSG and are using the paddles, to reset it back to fully automatic mode simply hold one of the paddles in for a couple of seconds.

I'm pretty sure most people will know this but the dial on top of the wiper stalk is used to set the length of time between taken between sweeps on the intermittent setting.

Also if you have cruise on in 'D' mode, to stop the car continually changing gear when going up hill just switch the DSG lever to the left, select the gear you want and it'll stay in it.
