For you, the screen you need is 3V0919606 PFL 8 inch Columbus or 3V0919605D FL 8 inch Amundsen. Plug and play :)

Yeah Sasha is right. You need the 8inch amundsen...  Takes only 5 minutes to swap the 2 screen.

If you want i can help you to get one. I have one extra to sell...

  • With a small budget you might look at a compatible Android unit.   Have a read of this thread:

Sasha thank you so much, its been mind boggling last few days trying to figure out which unit i could get and the difference between all the glovebox head units with cd slot and no cd slots ect lol,

Im going to go for the 8 inch coloumbus as like earlier poster i do like having the volume dial,

Next will be the virtual cockpit when a few start appearing in the breakers yard, i see new ones for 1400 euro

Thanks again 👍👍

8 inch FL Amundsen also has a Volume dial. Both are great but the FL screens look amazing IMO.

Hello Which radio and screen fit my car. At least 8 inches.

Phone mirroring like youtube and Android car would work. Sorry for my bad language. My car Skoda octavia 1.6 tdi mk3.

A 5Q0035874A Amundsen MIB2 with a 5E0919606 8 inch PFL Columbus screen or 5E0919605M 8 inch FL Amundsen screen will do. You also need a USB (5Q0035726E) and then the component protection needs removing from the radio. Once that’s done the radio needs coding to work in the car. Have a chat with member pab567 when you are ready, he has done both of my radios and I’ve recommended him to countless others.

Hi Sasha. Do I need to send the player for encoding and where can I find the pab567 contact information.

Yes you do. Pawel is on here, search for users or email [email protected]

Do you also need to replace the wiring harness when inserting a new player and display. I found an affordable monitor 5E0919605MScreenshot_2019-11-02-13-00-32-078_com.android.chrome.thumb.png.0d291c1bfe70293a34b56809552ab432.png

Wire harness is standard across the board. There are extras for the mib2.5 systems I believe as they need more data transfer for VC.

Another question is whether the timing of the car's extra heater (Webasto) on the new screen will work.

Yes, it should work the same way

Hi everyone, Hope someone can help ?

I have a Skoda Octavia 2013, 63 plate, mk 3.

All i want to do is change my stereo for one that has a sat nav and 8 inch screen, i am confused what to fit.  Ive looked and saw a Columbo mib2 that looks nice, do i have to change the unit in the glove compartment, At the moment i have the display without  a nav button and the unit in the glove compartment is a single SD slot with a CD, not fussed about the CD, Is it a simple change, or do i need coding it with the car, anyone know the part numbers of the items that would suit, I intend to purchase through Ebay or a car breakers.

Just one more,,,,,,,,, I want to change the steering wheel for one with controls on, is this easy ?  or do i need a new steering module, will any module fit or does it have to be the original one thats fitted to the donor car. Again anyone know what part numbers i need .

Many many thanks .

Rob.

The unit in the glovebox is the radio. The screen is just a screen but the MIB1 Bolero (which you have) can’t run an 8 inch screen. To fulfil your requirements you would need either a MIB2 Amundsen (5Q0035874B or MIB2.5 C) or a MIB2 Columbus 3V0035020, 021 etc as various ones fit. Screen wise you can either use the MIB2 Columbus 5E0919606 or MIB2.5 Amundsen 5E0919605M but none of this is plug and play. I recommend getting in touch with Pawel (pab567) as he’ll sort you out. As for MFSW some gateways cannot run this and some can. You could get the buttons and plug in after some coding but if they don’t work then you will need a High CAN Gateway and that will need ODIS-E and lot of coding experience.

Hi thanks for getting back to me,,, all seems so long winded just to upgrade a radio, think i will look around for a late model octavia that's being dismantled and attempt to buy both units at least i know they will work with each other,, so confusing some being amundsen, columbus, Bolero. They all look very similar.

The MIB2 units will work with either 8 inch screen, that’s not the issue, the cost of rework is the issue. Whichever radio you get will need Component Protection removing, hardware mods, software mods and the newer ones need CAN filters installing. VAG have closed the door on the old way of working with the 5Q0035874A 2016 Amundsen that used to be so cheap. The cost of rework will vary from radio to radio. In your situation I would set aside the money (usually from £700-1200) and contact someone who works with these radios and can advise what they have in stock that may be to your liking and can be made to work in your car.

Yes you maybe right, seems so complicated. I think i will look around a little more. The 8 inch display looks really nice. Not to worry, shame. Ill keep looking. Many many thanks.

Hi All, im after a bit of advise. It's slightly off topic but it is linked. I have a fabia and the radio has died. (The skoda badge just keeps cycling).  All I want to do is change the unit behind the dash.

My question is, if I make an exact swap with a second hand one off Ebay, does it require any recoding or component protection removing?

I have been quoted £700 without labour from the stealer for a part that £70 on Ebay!

Many thanks

Simon

Even changing like for like means CP removal and some coding to make the options the same. A good VAG radio specialist will be much cheaper than the dealer.

Ok, thank you for your reply!
