Featured Replies

I was away this weekend looking to get home in time to get the Aldi bars however yesterday I popped into a Lidl store in the midlands bought the last boxed set of the 120mm versions.I don't know the fitment yet as I'm waiting for the new Karoq to turn up.

Met a friend tonight who had some on his Peugeot, they look perfectly good certainly good enough for carrying the odd bit of timber so I'll be outside Lidl 10am Sunday.

If it quotes the Seat Ateca then they will fit, are they the same as these?

Thanks don_kiddik  my roof  bar box  box states good for the Seat Ateca however the number in the yellow oval in the photo is different from mine and is 311606 on my box. I'll confirm when my car arrives if all fits OK.

Great snakes, I just checked the box again and like yours it shows the Karoq. I just picked up the last unopened box of 120mm rails and purchased after reading here as there was some one else checking out an open box set. Drove the 100 mile route home yesterday and just put the box away as I'm waiting for my car to turn up at the dealer. Note to self, read the box.

Thanks SurrySlowCoach , don_kiddik and everyone on this thread. All most helpful

Mine were bought around May/June last year before I received my car, didn't mention Karoq, but as it said Ateca I knew they would fit,  probably the old number as you said.

Ok arrived today - they look great and seem very easy to fit..... however, they either touch the roof or they have a gap under the roof bars...... is that right??  I am now in contact with RoofBox about them......

Don't like the look of those!

Doesn’t look right to me i would get in touch with them and question

This is the profile of the Lidl and I think Aldi fitment. There is a gap at the top when fitted but it does surround the roof rail. From your photo looks like yours has a lip but the main security is from compression of the rubber around the rail as you say leaving a big gap. I think the Aldi bars are still available for delivery.

They shouldn't touch the roof. Imagine a loaded roofbox pressing down on your roof skin in that spot. Take them off the car - the roof is going to get creased.  You are right to get on to the vendor.

I have found Roofbox to be a decent vendor; when my Atera bike carrier arrived with a broken light-cover, I emailed them a photo and they immediately sent a replacement. I also ordered Cruz roof-bars for my old Astra estate which I returned because the mounts were too fiddly with 2 small nuts and bolts for each mount - very poor design. From the photograph, it looks as though the Cruz designers have triumphed again with something that is completely impractical. A picture is worth a thousand words ..... send it to Roofbox.

Well got the bars from Aldi. Easy to fit but the front one was a bit tight on the length. Seem fine for occasional use so very happy.

I assume you have the 120cm bars there, the 135's are the same price......

Yes went for those based on the advice here. The larger ones will have a bit of a overhang. Only want for light use so happy with them.

Will these fit the kodiaq??

thanks focusy

Think it's the load they'll take in kgs Though I believe the karoq roof is only good for 75 kgs

RoofBox came back to me today and they said they had had another Karoq customer with the same issue..... the manufacture said:

‘The customer should raise the clamps a little bit, the railing should not be necessarily always in the middle of the clamp’s rubbers. What is really important is that the railing remains always in contact with the rubbers. Looking at the pictures, it seems that the customer can raise the bars a little bit.

Apart from this, please tell the customer to tight the bars as much as possible with the provided tool (Allen Key). By tightening them enough, they should remain always in the same position.’

So I have: they seem not to move..... I will email RoofBox back with the image to see if that is OK - they don't touch the roof but are close...... Looking at others here there is a little more space...

Me too, in my dealings with Roofbox I found them very happy to live up to their satisfaction guarantee.

Hi there.

Can anyone that bought the roof bars from ALDI tell me which size of bars is best, 120 or 135cm.

A few of you guys have reported the 120s are tight at the front and fall short of the front fixed point of roof rail.

Would this falling short at front be an issue if you use a roof box, obviously the fixing holes in roof box govern distance of roof bars!

Also if this was a problem can the 135 bars be used and cut down at all to length to get a Breyer fit? Just a question.

Thanks for any help.

9 years ago I bought some Aldi roof bars for my Yeti. They didn’t fit!  I ended up buying the proper Skoda bars.

About a month ago and based upon info in this thread, I bought a set of 120cm Lidl bars, put them in the garage and didn’t open the box. Clearing up the garage last week looking for the 9 year old Aldi bars to sell I saw they

were the same make and length as the Lidl bars I had recently bought.

I tried the 9 year old Aldi bars on my Karoq and they fitted. The front was a bit tight but they still fitted.  Go figure!

Will now be going back to Lidl with the receipt to see if they will give me my money back on their bars.
