New Map Releases Dated 17-06-19

I live in Hungary, and the car was purchased in Hungary. All the settings are in Hungarian.

There we go. You're downloading the maps for Western Europe rather than the ones for your home location.

At a guess that is...

Try this download, see if it's any better.

Further edit: Then again, the main link in the first post should have Hungary included. I wonder if the region is something to do with the failure to read. The link I posted is for a region smaller and closer to where you live.

But I downloaded this file: DiscoverMedia2_EU_DL2_1310_V11, and it includes Hungary as well as most CEE countries. So I do not see a problem with that.

That link does not have Hungary maps in it. Try the one I posted above and your unit will work....

I will try, and get back to you. Just to clarify: I format the card, unzip the update package, copy the "maps" folder to the card, and that should do the magic, right?

Yep.

Thanks. Worked like a charm. Even with the full Europe link. If you could also help me to update the infotainment software version, please PM me! Thanks again!

Just a heads up to say that new maps are available on the VW site for those who don't want to wait until they are eventually put up on the Skoda Update Portal. All are direct downloads in the 7-zip format with individual descriptions.

In the options menus chose Passat 2014 then Discover Media to see the available maps.

This is the direct link for the main Europe ( 13.0 GB ) map:

Thanks for that! Just what I was waiting for.

Having downloaded both the VW version of the maps linked in the OP and the latest one from the Skoda Update Portal, it appears that the Skoda version has newer maps than the VW one, despite the date given on the download page.

The VW files mostly have a timestamp of 11:30 or thereabouts on 10th December 2018, whereas the Skoda one (specifically ECE A1 2019/20) is mostly timestamped around 10:15 on 9th May 2019.

ECE 2019/20 is an old maps version.

VW downloaded maps are 1310 numbered while Skoda downloaded are 1115 numbered. The old VW maps are also 1115, so looks like Skoda haven't updated their maps version yet.

I'm pretty sure that the maps must all be from the same source; it makes no sense for one map version to be created for VW and a separate version created for Skoda, etc.

In any event, the one I downloaded from VW works perfectly and now shows the correct national speed limit on ordinary roads here in France (80 km/h). The 2019/20 maps from Skoda show the old national speed limit (90 km/h), despite the 80 limit coming into force just over a year ago.

So thanks again to bigadel

I'm looking to update the maps on my 2018 Superb/Columbus and downloaded/updated with DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS1115_V10.7z from the VW site (was it the correct one?) This appeared to remove some roads from my previous official Skoda maps (HIGH12_P177_EU_201920.zip) but still showed 0177 as the version info on screen.

Should the map version have changed to 1115 as @Rustynuts mentioned or should some sort of reboot have sorted that?

Currently downloading the Skoda version again to verify if there are missing roads.

Surely Sunday afternoon's should be spent watching sport!

On the link you can select Discover or Discover Pro which is basically the equivalent of Amundsen or Columbus.

Hello, I'm trying to run the Discover-carestart.exe update software program to update my firmware having already formatted a 32GB SD card and downloaded the latest maps into a folder as above ready, but...

The program asks if I have Discover Media gen 1 or 2 or Discover Pro gen 1 or gen 2 and I need some help please?  It is a Colombus unit in a 2010 Skoda Superb (which I understand might be Discover Pro?) and here is the label l on the unit.

The downloads you're trying to access are not for the Columbus you have.

Think I might have gone in a circle then  - which ones do I need please Rusty?

Skoda don't have downloadable map updates for the older units. You have to purchase an update DVD from Skoda, or find an unofficial copy of the maps online and burn it to a DVD yourself.
