Slow factory orders

Featured Replies

When I bought my Superb Elegance Estate at 4900 miles and 10 months old I saved the guts of €9000 off it's list price new.  And the car felt absolutely new. Then they offered me €1500 additional on my trade in car if I financed some of the balance from VW bank, which they offered at 1.9%. Saved a ton over buying new.

I congratulated myself on being right - once again - that this method is ALWAYS best. Never buy new. Never touch anything that smells of hire purchase or similar.

BUT

1 month later, I bought my wife a VW Up on PCP, with all the bells and whistles for €1000 less than a 1 year old and more basic "demo" Up with 7000 miles on it would cost me. On that occasion, the dealers incentives from VW bank for signing me up must have been sweet. The discount, very favourable trade in offer and the extras I got made it a total no brainer. I happily paid the balloon payment 3 years later as it was half what I could sell it for.  Weirdly,  the Up's close twin from Skoda (the Citigo) was a far worse proposition at that time - €3000 worse than the Up for a more basic spec - so you mustn't assume that the usual rule of "VW's are more expensive than Skoda's" is a fixed one.

Moral of my story is this: there is no single best procurement method for saving money.  You do your maths and exploit the offers on hand at the time.

Clearly not a Skoda ... but the end of my waiting for a new car journey is over!

  • So - Finally my L&K 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG ordered 22 July has a build date confirmed.... dealer estimates early to mid December Handover.... 6 weeks later than planned..

  • Finally, picked mine up today. I have to say lads that it's well worth the wait, drives like a dream. At the moment there are no squeaks or rattles or grinding noises and everything works. The de

So test drove the Q7 yesterday. What a car. An absolute beast both in power and size.

ive got a real dilemma about how I proceed.

heart says to go with the Q7 now ... something niggling in my head still makes me consider waiting for the Kodiaq.

decisions decisions

@ChinChiminey85

?

So what is the scores on the doors,

when can you have a Q7 to your spec,

What engines is it for the Skoda or the Q7 and what is the difference in costs to your pocket / bank balance?

Audi can be very good at quoting you happy when they want cars shifted, and then back in for stock in a few years.

Dealer / Manufacturers contributions.

Sales people not keen if you want to take smaller wheels as the no cost option offers, or not spec up, then you get lost in the 'Black hole ordering system'.

Been there, got the T-Shirt.

I can get a MY20 Q7 in either 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 6 weeks. There’s loads of them about to roll off the prod line or even in transport to UK.

the skoda was the 2TSI and the Q7 only comes in 3TDI.

Price wise my contribution is the same. £7k deposit and £450 per month. the main difference was I was going to personal loan the kodiaq and own it outright in 5 yrs. the Q7 id be sucked into the pcp cycle again and have a balloon of £26k after 4 years.

it also annoys me that a car like the Q7 which you’d expect to have every bit of kit a VAG has available is missing the following:

- adaptive cruise control

- side assist

- traffic jam assist

- rear roller blinds in back pax doors

- pano roof

- spare wheel (Audi supply foam in a can)

you can add them on, but only in ‘packs’ starting from around £3k...!

but it was stunning inside and hauling round all the family clobber will be nothing to worry about. The power of 280bhp was also epic.

But it keeps going back to my main niggles are being a 3 litre diesel and us only really doing about 6000 miles a year (weekend trips, nursery drop offs) is it overkill to have a brand new Q7 for that...

but then you only live once as they say.

On the flip side skoda UK have told me to get in touch with my dealer to arrange a courtesy car if I want to wait for my L&K

really torn. Either way I need to move quick as I’m currently driving an expensive vehicle with no warranty which frightens the daylight out of me.

The 3.0 TDI is an awesome Engine....  Was that your dealer figures or from Drive the Deal?

Only they just added new stock in the Black  - more powerful engine with all toysimage.png.0b592ca5f77c14f0d70eda4112258354.png

Thanks for that 👆

All on DDD. In fact another thumbs up for drive the deal is the first Audi dealer I went to could only drop the price to around £58k. I showed him drive the deal at £47k and he suggested I snap that car up immediately for that price even tho it would cost him a sale. He couldn’t understand how another dealer can get the car so cheap.

the black edition is better with some of the toys I’d be missing in the kodiaq but the example above pushes the monthly from £450 to £550 and an end balloon of £34k rather than £25k

Buying  brand new Q7 would scare the hell out of me.

Especially when a two year old one is almost half the price...

Use your £7,000 deposit, add in a bit of negotiation and you're down to £30K.

Stretch the term with a regular bank loan and you can get down to your £450 per month...

image.png.a6054fb2a0d80fe3779ca4f77d7cbf3d.png

Overpay where possible and you can own it outright in 5 years.

Ok it’s done. Appreciate everyone’s contributions to my pickle.

collect the Q7 in two weeks time

sad times but I’ll be sticking around here - its a nice place and I feel like a bit of a Kodiaq expert now even tho I’ve never owned one! Sad times but Skoda need to sort their **** out 🙁

Where did you order

Drive the Deal or ?

what exact spec?

you stay with the 3.0 Engine ?

Good Luck and feel free to post pics!

 Thanks

I did it thru the dealer

DTD was coming in at around £49k and the dealer got to £50k with a full tank of fuel, paint and leather protection and £100 off the first service. for the sake of a grand and being local I swallowed the difference.

it’s a Q7 3.0TDI 50 Quattro SLine (286bhp). Only extra is metallic paint.

feel gutted not getting the kodiaq but obvs excited about the Q7

really hope you get a date soon 🤞

How did you go from a Kodiaq to a Q7?

Did you not take a look at the SEAT Tarraco? A Kodiaq but for less money, a very slightly lower rent dashboard and lots available for immediate delivery...

I can not see how eventually if investigations prove that there is even now Defeat Devices  in the Audi's ECU's that these vehicles in the EU will not require another 'Fix',

that is unless they only did it in the USA and yet again in Europe / EU it is not Illegal.

In my opinion the Tarraco is too ‘vanilla‘ for my liking. Absolutely no wow factor and I want to drive a car I feel excited about. Otherwise I may as well look at a Qashqai.

the kodiaq has that wow factor, particularly the Scout, Sportline and L&K.

Seat haven’t cracked it yet.

I’m selling our 2019 Sportline, 6 months old and 3700 miles (6k in non-retard), would happily send it across to UK. Tho you need to wire me the Norwegian price for it, not much, about 58k GBP 😛

Edit: And yes, you have to live with the steering wheel on the correct side.

A key issue with the Tarraco (and the Tiguan)  is they have somehow managed to make a  "ramp" in the boot.  Very annoying.    The Kodiaq also manages to "feel" bigger.  Whether it is or not I don't know but it certainly feels more spacious.

I would also argue that the materials on the Kodiaq are nicer, though that could be as I perceive them to be more in my style than actual quality per se.

But the main issue with the Tarraco?    The SEAT badge has to be the most ugly brand badge ever.

@xspartx

The badge is the badge.  They managed to then come up with the strange CUPRA one.

What ramp?

Bottom left corner.

OK, i understand now.

7 seater ramp to give the flat load surface.

What's the difference between the two pictures? Is the second one a 5-seater?

I don't think anyone chose not to buy a car because of the design of the manufacturers badge, ever :D

The only fly in the ointment for the Tarraco for me is the unavailability of the heated windscreen that Skoda enjoy.

^  I think it's the variable boot floor that is standard on the Kodiaq.

I know what you mean but seriously the Seat badge has too much plastic and screams "Fisher Price" at me every time I see it!

6,000 miles a year to the nursery is how many Pence / Mile?

Nice car, but . . . . . .

Think of the number of hotel nights or gallons of fuel you could have instead.

These are are my guides when I realise that life’s one big Compromise 😀

@silver1011

Top screen grab 7 seater, bottom 5 seater.
