Believe me or not but nothing. No reason to lie. I was on a way to home and stopped for a lunch. An 1h later returned to car turned on ignition connect phone to start navi but it didn't boot correctly anymore.

 

In my opinion it can be connected somehow with mobile phone or something installed in the phone. Recently i installed waze navi instead of google maps i had used before.

I tried emergency update with the file you have sent to me unpacked to sd card but unfortunately it didn't helped

Do yo maybe have different firmware for this unit ? Maybe i could try with stock one ?

Firmware is stock, just 0480 version, you might have been running 0472 version as seen in last few seconds of your video.

But the firmware 0472 or 0480 both contain emergency recovery.

 

Was the files unpacked to root folder of SD Card?

 

Maybe @pab567you have seen these errors before?  Perhaps he needs to post off for a fix to you?

There can be several reasons:

- make sure your SD card is formatted under FAT32. (use 4096 bytes for cluster size when formatting, it helps sometimes)

- unit is NOT SOP4 (originally installed firmware was 02xx or 03xx, SOP4 firmware, i.e. 04xx, can be pushed only to SOP4 units), in such case use eith SOP2 (02xx) or SOP3 (03xx) firmware, depending what SOP the unit is

- EMMC is broken

- memory controller built in iMX6 is faulty

Can you show screenshot of SD Card files and folders.

 

From what I can see you are doing it correctly, quadlock out, USB communication thing plugged in, and RX is connected to TX to enable two way Comms.

 

Then you short out the two pads on motherboard and push in quadlock, and in the terminal screen you select 2 for emergency recovery.  Then remove quadlock.

 

With SD Card in slot one only, you then insert quadlock and see the red EM screen, that then fails with above screenshot?

I have only one SD slot so no way to make mistake.

Everything else correct, exactly as you described.

 

Week ago when those crash happened i was almost sure it's a software problem. But now I'm closer to that it is a hardware failure and i will need new device.

I was also beginning to think it's a hardware fault also seeing as you was able to get recovery emergency mode started.

1.  Is there anything else i can check with this hardware or I should look for new unit. I'm lack of further ideas what else can I do with current one

2. Is there anything interesting in logs that suggests the hardware is dead from point of view ? I see some errors but I don't know how serious they are.

3. If I bought another second had unit (new one will be quite expensive i guess) is it a big challenge to adopt it to the car and restore all functionalities of broken one ? I mean privately without passing it do dealer to do it.

 

BTW: The car is still quite fresh in my opinion (2018 and currently millage around 83kkm) and infotainment is one of the last think that I would expect to break. But.. strange things happens.

However I think dealer will refuse to fix it within guarantee. I removed guarantee label anyway.

I will answer the best I can, I don't deal with the hardware side, just provide firmware updates.

 

1. As far as I can tell, you have done everything possible to load files from emergency recovery.

 

2. The fact that it cannot perform recovery, tells me it's a big fault with HW.

 

3. Dealer price is insane, even with 50% "goodwill" contribution (if lucky!). 2nd hand parts, will have CP, Component Protection, which has to be lifted to code into your car.  If the part is stolen, then it will be refused and you might loose the money.  Best choice is a breaker yard if you take removal keys to find the same 04xx firmware that was on yours.  Then you still might have issues coding at a main dealer, outright refusal.  An independent garage could be more forthcoming if they have ODIS online connection.

 

EDIT: @pab567Would probably be able to send you a system to plug and go maybe as he can work magic with tools no doubt.
