Battery Help

Featured Replies

Hi All.

The battery on my 2011 FL vRS 2.0 Petrol appears to have died. Unfortunately due to Coronavirus my local dealer is closed for the lockdown. Can anyone please advise the correct replacement? I've looked on eurocarparts and it seems to list two different types when I put in the registration number of the vehicle... the 027 (190x242x175) or the 096 (190x278x175).

Can anyone advise which of the above would be a direct swap for the existing OEM battery?

Many Thanks...

I've also seen GSF have a Yuasa brand battery, model is 027. Quite a bit cheaper than the Varta/Bosch variants at eurocarparts.

What is the one in the car at the moment??????????? Should give you a good idea.

Mine is an 096, in the Octavia 1.9 diesel. but your 2.0Tfsi could be different. I think the one in my Audi was smaller.

Looks like an 027 OEM, but I reckon an 096 would fit if wanted.........

If using ECP then check for 40/50 or even 60% codes......Their sales tactics are atrocious.

We're about to move house in the next few days, so not ideal timing. As such the contents of the garage had been packed up, which included all our tape measures. Anyway, managed to borrow one from a neighbour and the length is 278, so I guess that makes it the 096 type.

Just FYI the battery code should be visible somewhere on the battery body, perhaps hidden in a string of aother letters and numbers.

Your choice of supplier will have much to do with immediacy given your impending move.  When I replaced one of our Octy batteries recently I trawled the various options and ended up with a 5-year warranty 096 from Tayna for £85, delivered in three days.  They offered the best combination of guarantee and price with quick delivery (and as i've bought from them before it helped).

At the time the best Amazon or Halfords deals were the Bosch S5 (5 year) running at around 120 squid.  GSF, Europarts and others were offering either the same at similar price (even after silly discounts) or unknown makes with only 3 year warranties for less money.

I suggest you give Tayna a call to at least establish what they can offer and how quickly they can help.  After that you will be better informed as to where to source your new battery.

Caveat: no commercial links, happy customer (price, service and range on more than one occasion).

He can just click the Tayna link above Micky....................Gives both the battery sizes and a link to each I'm assuming, to battery prices etc. ;)

Pretty sure Original fit would have been 027, so you could fit either as you now know 096 fits.

I'd completely forgotten about Tayna... I'd used them a few years ago and found their customer service excellent. The current battery on the car was fitted by Skoda about 4 years ago. I'm not sure if it has a larger battery because of the factory fitted Xenon lights.

Anyway, I sent Tayna an e-mail, and they've already responded to confirm the 096 is the one I need.

Thanks all for the advice...

Are you guys in the UK still getting deliveries OK?

Its virtually ground to a halt here, La Poste (mail) and Colissimo (parcels) are only now working Wed, Thu & Fridays & most of their staff have availed themselves of their right to stay away on full pay because they dont feel safe, I ordered car parts from Germany (always great service) and paid for DHL delivery not knowing they would hand it over to Chronoposte once in France, I still see DHL vans making deliveries.

Ordered Wednesday, despatched immediately, recieved in France early hours of Friday, the earliest I will see it will be Wednesday but probably not this week. It doesn't matter as I can no longer use the car but does not bode well for other purchases of necessity.

But ordering stuff from Germany to be delivered to France is a bit different to ordering from local parts department. (as it should be)

Generally, local orders are getting through I believe although have seen an advert allowing collection of parts for essential workers only.

Orders probably taking a day or two longer than usual due to organising though.

My neighbour is regularly still getting his Amazon delivery workload. (I think).

Agreed its different but the delay as ever is in this country, its never been good, stuff either arrives within a week or shows up missing on the tracking after 4-6 weeks it arrives & then the tracking appears & it has always done a tour de france with each of the hubs playing pass the parcel.

Now with La Poste only working 50% of the time with maybe 40% of the staff local orders are going to be really delayed as most of the courier companies use La Poste for the final delivery outside of the grand metropoles.

Mind you as they have no junk mail to deliver now they could probably operate 1 day a week with 1 in 10 employees.
