From yesterdays Telegraph. It's not paywalled as they usually are. Baby steps ;)

Britain is on the verge of joining the EU Covid vaccine passport scheme, sources in Brussels and Westminster have confirmed.

The EU Digital Covid Certificate should make travelling in Europe easier and cheaper for British tourists.

More controversially, joining it would also enable the Government to quickly launch a domestic vaccine passport system should it be needed to help control Covid this winter.

Last week, when outlining his autumn and winter plan, Boris Johnson said domestic vaccine passports could be used as part of a "plan B" should Covid start to stretch NHS capacity again.

Those Departments talking for the UK / Westminster might need to step back from the verge if as usual they have not talked it through with the devolved administrations.

Still no joined up system for UK Covid Passports as it is.

Maybe aligning the UK travel for arrivals is closer and almost agreed, but it is not fully.   Westminster officials forget to talk to opposite numbers within the UK as do Ministers.

Actual proof of vaccination of people within the UK is not joined up, as people having had vaccines in the EU but who are British is not sorted out and some can not get a Booster in the UK because the UK countries may not and in cases do not recognise the likes of Sputnik 5 while European Countries like Norway will.

Snagging faults with the App in Scotland for the Covid vaccine  Passport.  Who would have thought such an issue could happen with a launch of such things.    You might or might not have your NHS number.  You need photo ID, passport or driving licence, something many adults do not have but  Politician will not believe that. Or that people have not a Smart phone.  So you need to take your selfie to have that match your Photo ID.    So if you have all you need then it is just the Robert the Bruce spider situation.  Try try and try again, and maybe just give up all hope.

There does seem to be this assumption across many sectors (politicians / employers / public sector etc.) that everyone is technologically literate and has up-to-date IT equipment and full broadband.  That is definitely NOT the case...

The Excess Death rate from Covid is not low in the UK but seemingly the vaccination rate is high.

Terrible in Scotland.

http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52214177

The number of young un-vaccinated in Aberdeen Infirmary in ICU is high and the survival rate is not good.

Whoa chill, Mark. Just pointing out the Rona's not gone yet despite what some people think and as the graphic shows, UK still having an abnormally high rate compared to similarly advanced countries. Still nearly 800 people lost their lives this week. Around 1K/ wk in the preceding weeks if memory serves.

There is some sense in the world.

Matt Hancock MP was so happy it seemed with his new job on the big gravy train which i thought was him getting rewarded for being pretty damn useless.

So rug now pulled from under his feet.

http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58940128

We need him in the UK concentrating on the job in hand which will be answering questions honestly about Contracts and Procurement and tax payers money.

Dido as well.

Dominic Cummings might want to keep himself available for some more questions by committees or others.

Robert Peston Tweeted that a 'technicality' had come to light saying he can’t be both an MP and a UN special rep. Gordon Brown had a UN position from 2012. He was an MP until 2015.

No worries as Matt explained,

just a technicality meant he could not take up the offer that was withdrawn, and it was unpaid anyway.

Obviously resigning as a MP was out of the question seeing as no pay so no way was the UN or Africa going to be that important.

If all meetings were going to be done over Zoom then what would be the point when he was hoping for Air Miles & Smiles.

He will just have to soldier on working for the constituents until the next General Election maybe and keep doing good voluntary work and wearing a CARE or NHS badge.

Mandatory to be vaccinated for offshore oil workers in the North Sea being introduced by CNR .

Time will tell how that goes then, not long to wait if the staff and contractors have until December.

Plenty that are counted as essential workers have been in and out of the UK every 3 weeks and un-vaccinated.

There are thousands will continue doing it in Oil & Gas and many other industries.

Don't the rigs pay very very well?

Not sure people's morals will see them swapping that for minimum wage in Aldi
