Limp mode, no boost, no codes, wont rev over 2250rpm

Hello folks got a real problem with my car.

as topic says it has no guts and have almost given up on it.

after two local garages have it jointly for 7 months (still had my old car) and neither knows what's wrong.

originally with the limp mode it reported maf implausible sensor error

first garage changed maf and no change.

replaced turbo with reconditioned item cleaned dpf cat and egr cooler, replaced cam shaft sensor.

nothing worked.

second garge found open circuit on intercooler water pump, traced to corroded wire, repaired and no change.

timing belt had been changed recently but 2 mechanics have checked it to prove it isn't at fault.

any help will be very much appreciated 

taking it to skoda next week for 2hr diagnostic which is going to cost £210

If Ingrams Ayr are getting it in they maybe said it could be 2 hours to do a diagnosis.

 

But then the Fixed Price Servicing and Maintenance is the first 30 minutes for £60.  

 

Maybe the person with all the gear and more than an idea does not need 2 hours and can pin point the problem within 30 minutes from setting down the work sheet 

and plugging in.

 

If fault diagnosed within 60 minutes then a bit of a fraud to charge for a 2nd hour.

If they get the job to do even charging the 2nd 30 minutes is taking the pIth.

ayr cant look at till 15th dec paisley 5th jan 

but Henreys in Glasgow will look at it Tuesday

exhaust is clear of blockages air intake too new fuel filter just going to take a while to get there from Girvan as I cant do more than 20mph up hills

Sorry if this is teaching you or the garage to suck eggs but....................................................

 

You/they do know that the engine will not rev above 2.25K prm unless the vehicle is in motion?

 

You can try and rev it up all day but it wont have it.

 

I sincerely hope you have not lost 7 months through this!

 

Please dont ask me how I found out :blush

 

Editted, I just read again your final comment, you are driving it, are there any ABS ASC ESP etc warning lights that might indicate that the wheel rotation is not being measured?

no codes no lights on dash apart from airbag which I have been told is the offside front pedestrian impact sensor needing changed

A drive to Glasgow via the motorway is surely not on so via the longer route.

 

I would read the Henry's Posts and Comments in the Dealership Reviews on this forum, both North & South because i feel you might be having a wasted trip.

I think that as with most faults of this nature, we - the great unwashed of Briskoda - need a Scan to be performed.  This can be done by either ODBEleven or VCDS.  Posting up the errors codes will help, because that will give us all a better understanding of the fault.

 

There are VCDS owners nearby who could potentially assist: @wilson323f, @Muzza80 or @ricgibbs are all nearby.

Well Henrey’s Skoda Glasgow had it a couple of hours and say my dpf has 65 grams of soot and 45 grams is the max allowable. 
Ststic re gen of dpf failed as it’s too far gone and have advised to replace dpf........
costing £2652. 
not going to happen at this time as. Move house in a few days and don’t have the funds. 
Need to put some thought as to

my next step.

hoping that's just them trying to get a big sale, going to try dpf fuel additive and several dpf regens,

even thought they said they tried a couple of times which it failed to complete and dpf GLOWED while doing it

If it really is saturated with 65g of soot then I'm afraid that no amount of DPF fuel additives or driving to try an force it to regen will work.

 

The ECU will block the process and all you'll do is clog it further. 

 

There's places like DPF doctor that might be able to clean it in place or you'll have to remove it, send it away for cleaning then have the ECU reset.

Happens all the time in this country where people never question what the garagiste tells them and where specialists dont spring up like they do in the UK, the  first I ever knew of a DPF was when a girlfriend had to pay out €4k + for a not even 3 year old diesel Honda Civic that she should never have been sold in the first place as all her journeys to & from work & shopping etc were less than 3 miles, that was in 2014.

Well I've had a productive day

went to Dpf Doctor in Glasgow this morning and after 3 hours they confirmed my dpf is full of soot but may not be my main problem as my Charge Cooler is badly blocked and as its only £165 suggested replacing it so Monday we will see if my problems are solved. for a fraction of the £2650 skoda quoted for a different part

update.

although I have had it confirmed that my dpf has a high level of soot and ash it seems this was not my problem.

the charge cooler on front of engine is completely blocked, how i managed to drive with it in that state is beyond me.

The Dpf Doctor removed it and tried to clean it but being so blocked no fluid passed through it what so ever so I have purchased one from ebay that appears to have been deep cleaned already arriving to tomorrow, fingers crossed.

The first reply by PetrolDave on Dec 5th was pretty spot-on then.

 

No air getting to the engine through the intercooler.
