Knocking Noise From Front (Suspension?)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I changed my brake pads at the weekend and all seemed to go fine, but now I have a knocking noise coming from the front of the car when going over bumps or when turning, I assume it's a suspension noise (as it seems to be in that area) so my first thought was the bushes have gone as I had this on a previous car.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing it's nothing to do with my brakes but thought it's worth mentioning just in case.

Any help massively appreciated.

I would start by looking at the brakes again, as it is the part that has just been touched. Loose pin, bolt or carrier etc could be the cause, and it shouldn't take long to check.

Once you've checked that, then you can be sure and cross that off the list of possibles.

Yep turns out the noise it poorly fitting pads!

Time to go back to ECP and get some Pagid ones now! Anyone know if I'm able to return the Eicher ones as the fitment is correct online but is clearly too small.

Pleased it was an easy fix! Saves a lot of time and money. :)

Euros are normally decent about these things. Compare one with the other at branch, and you may see a small difference.

I have fitted both Eicher and Pagid. IMHO Pagid are worth the few quid extra. Better fit and quality.

Common theme with a lot of non genuine pads. They're often a tiny bit shorter and move up and down with the disc when braking! Drove me mad on my 3 series!

Was driving me up the wall!

Ended up buying brembo pads which will go on this weekend, I'll just check there is no play either side before using them.

Ive used Brembo pads on numerous cars without issue - more recently that included my Oct 2 Scout and Oct 3 Scout.

Hey,

Someone pointed me onto this thread as I too have the same issue. Eichers originally, but then again with Brembos.

Did brembos fix the issue for you?

Cheers
