I ordered in the UK in Nov 21 and am still without a build date (Hatchback SE, minimal options)

Is this standard for anyone else?
The most info I’ve had is “pencilled for Nov”- communication has been pathetic and impersonal (pre-recorded video) and my updates have been every 2 months.

It will arrive one day, I’m sure.

Yeah I’ve ordered in the UK also in November 21.
Still no build date for me either.
Mine is the Plug In VRS….which from what I’ve read on here is one of the most problematic specs. ☹️
Current car due to go back in Dec….considering buying used now.

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

I call BS on that. Actually i call BS on everything they say here in Slovenia.

Any and every single thing people got from them as an explanation why their car is still not finished my car does not have. And i am still here 3 days away from 15 months of waiting.

What did you order limo or combi?

Well, i ordered 1,5 tsi, with basic specs, 11 months ago, still not even estimated date, friend of mine ordered octavia with a lot of specs 18 months ago, and still no date. So it's mostly lottery.

Hi everyone. Long time lurker. Wanted to share my experience. Ordered July 21.  Hatch, DSG with DCC and Canton.   Have just received my first ever update that wasn't "no news".  Been told today my car is status ST10/WK33 .  So pencilled in for build sometime in Aug. How reliable will this be and if so, what is the normal lead time from build to arriving at dealer. (UK based SE.)

 Thanks

There are also cars that are stored in ports, also in the open, but I don’t know how long they normally stay there.

There has been thousands of vehicle stored in the open at Southampton port for at least 15 years to my personal knowledge, so probably much longer.

Also from the M5 driving past Avonmouth you can see thousands of vehicles stored in the open portside.

The cars are taken on trains to German port of Emden, and stored until there is room on a ship going to UK.  Although since covid and production limitations there is unlikely to be much delay waiting for a ship with space, probably 2 weeks max

A few thousand cars can be on the ship, they have multiple teams that drive them off, then they hop back in a minibus and go and drive another batch off.

After that (when in UK) it becomes more dependent on other orders for your dealer, ideally they will fill a road transporter, sometimes will be a split delivery to two dealers in similar areas.  Most leave the ports in early hours to arrive about 9am (most dealerships only accept cars between about 08:30 and 16:00 on weekdays).

For Skoda (and VW group) they use Sheerness (Kent), Grimsby and Tyne so if you are in the far west, road delivery becomes more restricted as too many driving hours to do a one day delivery, need a truck with sleeper cab.  There was at one time (don’t know if still applies) restrictions on number of SUVs on the older trailers as weren’t designed for lots of higher vehicles.

Car is thus likely to sit at UK port for anything from about 3 days to 3 weeks depending on other cars being delivered.

So overall anything from about 2-7 weeks from build to dealer, then depending on if sales team have tracked and booked workshop time 1-20 days to do PDI.   So assume about 8 weeks for your initial estimate.

This transport arrangement is very different from when Skoda / VW had cars not yet certified for the WLTP and they sat bunkered for months over winter in the country of production as they could not start a journey where they crossed borders even within the UK.    As to the current situation in the UK which is not in the EU.  VW group are not having cars imported into the UK and sitting  longer than they have do be and not firstbregistered and bringing money in other than when they need to ensure the UK,s averaged Co 2 is not going to reached as needed in the period covered.

Had my hopes up reading recent updates here that I might have some positive news having reached my "Build Week" and my Combi might sneak through.

Not to be though with latest excuse being put down to rolling lockdowns in China affecting various parts supply. No MHEV engines produced in the last 6 weeks apparently but who knows what to believe any more.

Looks like 2023 for me now which will put me in to the prestigious 1 year+ wait club.

Not sure how much longer I can tolerate the VW Golf/Roof Box rig I'm rocking at the moment but left with no other viable option really!

Are there more information regarding mhev engines? About production problems?

Congrats Jerry! Enjoy your brand new car. The flower was a nice touch by Škoda/dealership 😊

Good things come to those who wait - I hope 😉

“Waiting periods are from six to 12 months. Until now, we have managed to guarantee the price on the day of the conclusion of the sales contract,” says Marko Škriba, director of the Volkswagen brand in Slovenia. At Škoda, waiting times range from three to 12 months, the longest currently waiting for the Octavia – also due to a devastating fire at a key supplier. According to Petar Podlipny, the director of the brand in Slovenia, they have also guaranteed the price until now and it should remain so in the future.

This was published for Slovenia 2 days ago. Even the director of VW is lying. 3 - 12 months? Ok, then I should expect my car next week, even if I have no info. Nevermind me. I see other people from Slovenia waiting already up to 15 months. Efing liar. :)

What do you mean? Are you calling the Director of VW Slovenia a ****ty liar? 😲

Hi everyone, I have waited very patiently from ordering a new 1.0 estate SE Tech. on 31st July 2021, read the forums , sympathised and had the same frustrations as everyone else has had. I just decided to grin and bear it, didn't call the dealer, he didn't call me and that is how we left things. the car was for my wife and she was equally patient, unusually so for her. She had a Renault Clio on a PCP deal which was due to finish on 4th July and there was a bit of a quiet concern as to what was going to happen. As it was we got a final value to purchase her Clio for £5374. We paid the amount and sold it on to a dealer for £8900. When we settled wit Renault Finance we had a residual of £3525.  We are collecting the new Octavia tomorrow having secured a very god PCH deal back in July21. All in all things have not turned out too bad for us. I hope that those of you that are still waiting will not have to wait very much longer. Keep your spirits up, everything will work out just fine. I don't see much point in visiting the forum again but I wish you all well,

On the road price is £37,970 plus whatever options you have ordered

Link is to the brochure, so you can check the prices of any extras.

Remember the £40,000 tax is based on list price (including any options) at date of registration, regardless of what price you actually pay

Sure, let them make an example of me. I don't care anymore. If anything, I will be happy if they cancel my order ASAP. They should have done it long before. Turds. :)
