My car is a November '21 build and reports as shown in the picture. Not sure how this compares to others.

It's done 300miles so far with no faults to report. Adaptive cruise works as expected, no infotainment issues (other than being needlessly complex to use on the move) and no phantom light activation or SoS related pops. 300miles isn't very much though, so I await the first issue...

You can single press for Skoda voice assistant and long press for Android voice assistant - just in case anyone hadn't stumbled across this.

Skoda should just have that on a banner above the entrance 🤬

I picked up my car yesterday.. For now everything is working OK, except I cannot set up Wireless Android Auto.

My most common problem, which occurs one in every 3 or 4 trips, is with the sound volume. Occurs whether using inbuilt radio or media, or using Android Audio media playback. The actual sound volume reduces to 0% to 20% of what it is set to. Adjusting the volume controls is not sufficient to make up for the loss. Rebooting the Infotainment system cures it every time.

And today, as well as that on the outbound trip, on the return trip with Android Auto playing the sound suddenly disappeared from the car speakers and started playing on the phone itself.

I have had other but less frequent faults, in the SatNav and the reversing camera. Each time rebooting the Infotainment system cures them.

I have had other faults cured by taking the car in but they never cure these and I am not going to bother taking it in again just for these, annoying as they are. I will include them in the list for the 12 month service in 4 months time. Maybe there will be a better software version by then.

VRS Wagon, built April 2021, delivered end May 2021, 3950 kms as of 27-Jan-22. Software rev 1803.

Same behavior is observed on a lower version of the software as well.

My belief is that is something off with the Android Auto. I am seeing some performance issues within the application as well (typing on the tablet while on AA connected needs to be slower, otherwise the tablet wont pick up all of the characters).

Most likely AA is not 100% compatible with the new gen of MIB. I have had a better peformance of the AA on a 2018 Rapid.

I did another trip today and a new issue occurred. It involves Android Auto but might or might not be AA's fault, just the Octavia.

I was driving in the country, streaming music with Youtube Music when the music cut out. Ok, I thought, we are out of signal range. So I waited until I was back in a a built-up area but the music never came back. I looked at the screen and YT Music claimed it was offline. Yet the status bar indicated 4 bars of 4G reception. Picking up the phone I was able to do internet searches etc so there was obviously a signal. So I rebooted the Octavia's Infotainment system and, of course, YT Music started playing again.

Maybe it's a YT Music thing? The UI said "Offline" but there was no control that would let me go back online. You would think that even with a signal you could choose to be online or not.

The phone is a Google Pixel 3a. The connection was wired with the phone in the tray in the console, so accessing the car's aerial.

Same behavior for me using Spotify in a few occassions - wirelessly and with usb cable.

So, I am still feeling that AA is at fault here.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I received my OBDeleven today and have immediately improved the vRS in like 10 minutes.

Enabled 4 apps, because I can't be bothered to research on how to do it manually:

- Soundaktor set to 20% volume

- Auto door lock setting enabled (why is this not just a thing from factory?)

- Interior lightning fading enabled (because, why not?)

- Scandinavian DRL's (I paid for the rear lights, I'm going to use them 😃)

Highly recommended to anyone who's annoyed by the first two especially.

No.2 and 3 were standard for me sine purchase.

You can disable automatic door locking when driving? In mine the setting didn't exist.

First one seems weird maybe a bug? But lane assist and adaptive cruise are unfortunately intended to work that way and you can do much about it. Lane assist is easy to turn off though so...

Yeah maybe however my Father has had the a3 hybrid and now the q5 hybrid and they wont let him change the way you want to drive it from the start, auto is EV from the start.

It seems you're not the only person having WiFi issues with device hardware ending in J, unbelievable that this is still happening!

These cars are an absolute joke IMO, I've had mine less than 7 months and I've already ordered something different. Mine has had most of its problems me fixed but the Car, Skoda, and my local dealer have pi**ed me off so much that I just wanted rid!

What have you ordered to replace it?

I went with a Mokka e in the end, just have to wait a few months for the build.

It's not the type of car I'd normally go for but it looks decent IMO, it's only me that drives it so the fact it's not huge inside is fine. The range is way more than enough for me, its absolutely specced to the max and the monthly cost is way lower than what I pay for my iV.

I know the grass isn't always greener, however, I just can't see how it could be any worse than not only having to put up with the crappy software, but also having to deal with the clowns at both skoda and my local dealership.

Fair do's. I'm looking at Golf GTi.

Will download the brochure shortly.

You do know the software is exactly the same on a GTI? 😅 Considering how much hate you seem to show for the new Octavia, I would look at a Cupra Ateca if I were you. It's on the old MIB platform, but still basically a Golf R underneath.

I've finally seen the SOS bug and now also have a persistent airbag warning on the dashboard. The dealer group didn't deem the airbag fault sufficiently dire to make my investigation any sooner (waited 4 weeks, still got another 3). It's a shame that the majority of these faults popped up after 6 months - a lot easier to reject before 6 months.

Only looking atm. Did even consider Hyundai N20i or 30i.

Was looking at Ford Focus ST, but it has disappeared from the Ford website 😕

i had lend of a skoda and it had lane assist, found it very strange at the start but got used to it an.i think it made me a better driving using indicators more than i used to.

Indicators should be used selectively, not because the car requires you to use them. I recently got pulled into the side of a passing truck by lane assist soon after the unusual entry slip on the southbound entry slip at junction 12 on the M1. The lane you enter on to is either a secondary slip lane or, if the hard shoulder is signalled as a running lane you carry straight on. Lane assist saw the diagonal solid line where you would ordinarily move right to the next lane and decided to steer the car toward the truck.

This is the third car I've had with lane assist and this is the worst implementation of it. Anyone who's completed the IAM course will know you use the full road, even the opposite side if appropriate, and lane assist just gets in the way. It shouldn't be necessary to switch it off every time you start the car.

I have now had the issue with ACC slowing down when undertaking last week. Had my car just over 4 weeks. Had it on the M3 from Winchester to around Basingstoke, then seemed to correct itself, started again and stopped around Farnborough. Was fine heading back down the M3! Did it again briefly on the A303 just before Wincanton.

Anyway, mentioned it to my dealer who said there is a UK version of the software that will fix that and is booked in on the 1st to get loaded. Anyone else heard of this?

Smells like smoke and mirrors to me. I suppose i'll find out next week as mine is in for 2 days for my list of issues after having waited 7 sodding weeks.

IIRC another Octavia 4 owner has reported the same problem on that stretch of the M3 -sounds like a GPS problem in the software thinking that stretch of the M3 is in Europe not the UK?
