Radar / front assist cover broken

Featured Replies

I've recently noticed that the cover over the radar (I'm assuming that's what it is) on my car has a nasty crack in it. What's really annoyed me though is the fact that there's absolutely no impact marks on, or around the grill, it makes no sense as to how it's happened, has anyone else had this?

I've been having a look at what I'd need to do to replace this and i cant find a definite answer on whether or not it's the whole grill that needs replacing or just that cover.

I hope someone replies to your post I would be very interested in a response.

I believe this is the part you need. The radar cover is a separate part to the grill.

might be an idea to give skoda a call and quote the part number to confirm though. I would imagine you’ll need to get to the back of the grill to remover the cover though.

Thank you both, it's good to see it is indeed a separate part.

Might have been someone reversing into your car and never leaving a note. If it’s just been nudged a little with another cars bumper it could easily crack without leaving any other marks.

It's not impossible however, my cars never left anywhere other than on my drive, at work (charging with no other cars nearby) or in asda's car park on its own around the back so, it's extremely unlikely.

It looks like I can replace it for next to nothing so it's all good, I've got no issues removing the bumper if necessary either.

In the workshop manual, you have the screw localisation to remove the numper, but regarding the drawing perhaps it's not necessary.

Brilliant post @cbalard31👍👍👍  Made my day

Now I just need to figure out if it's possible to download the manuals for offline reading.

Yes on the site it's possible to download, I have downloaded the workshop manual on my Mac with SAFARI (which normally don't work) but the download don't work with my google chrome version.

I managed to download with MS Edge since manuals don't want to open in Chrome even though I have disabled addblocker.

Click on desired manual and wait for it to open. Click on print icon.

Wait till the document is ready for printing and the print dialog shows up.

Chose Save as PDF and click Save on the bottom of the print dialog.

I just tired a download and found that at the moment it's only open to "visitors from the USA" (no luck for the UK). Anypne know a site which accepts UK addresses?

For members that may have this issue in the future, can you describe the steps to fit?

Would someone who has managed to download the manual (specifically the pages relating to removing the front assist cover) please share them? I've tried all options to download this but can't seem to. Thanks a lot

Unfortunately...

Looks like the chrome trim prevents you from getting to the clips on the cover.

Hi guys,

I am planning to remove this radar cover on my car to retrofit a front parking camera.

Are there any chances to do something to the radar that would require a calibration afterwards?

Thank you!
