Is it true that the un-drilled gasket wil trigger the emissions warning?

  • First off, well done to those who condensed the thread Couple of questions if anyone knows the answer. 1) Where do skoda dealers fit the 14.5mm gasket? Position 6 or 11? Seem to remember reading th

Just to clarify, i have no engine management lights after fitting this gasket. If you are doing this yourself please do it with a cold engine or you WILL get burnt. I have included a couple of pics just to show where the gasket is.

Thanks for that, I was just gonna wing it til I came across something that looked the right shape.

Award yourself more cheese!!:D

If you are thinking of doing this I would buy the gasket sooner rather than later before Skoda issue a revised part against that number.

Is it worth buying one to see if it can be copied, If SUcK do this then marketimg pattern ones might be a nice if small earner

Just turned 20k miles and have not seen a stutter for ages.

Anyone else see it disapear as the miles clocked on?

Probably as the EGR clogs up!!

now done 3,500 miles and the stutter is still evident.

but it doesn't bother me!

I know where it is, so I drive around it, and even when it does stutter isn't nothing major, just like rapidly accelerating then pulling off the throttle, same sort of thing really.

I don't really see what all the fuss is about? lol

Does anyone know what size hole is in the gasket below the actual EGR valve?

The dealer changed this one in error on my car and fitted a 9mm one in doing the fix.

When I have come to change the EGR gasket per Mouse's pics I have one with a 20mm hole fitted. I changed this one is one for the 9mm one. Two miles driving later the emissions light is on and it is running rubbish.

Help please.

Job Done!

9mm gasket fitted and test drive fine n dandy!

Size of hole in my "fixed" gasket? 25, yes 25mm!!!!!

I took an afternoon off work to get that done and it took 'em an hour and a half.

Did mine in 10 minutes!

What a complete set of Cartapes!!! (text)

Big shout out to all the Stealers :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger:

Any problems, emmision lights on, how many miles since new gasket fitted, any worries or concerns??

Interested to know how you get on

cheers

quite a few miles and no probs!!! Get it done!!!

Finally picked up my gasket today from the dealer. Day off on Monday so i'll fit it then. Hopefully i'll have a nice smooth engine afterwards.

Apart from the size of the hole in this one part, does anyone know of any other physical differences between the Euro III and Euro IV engine?

So all I have to do is buy this gasket and switch it over with the old one, job done?

I've read about 90% of this long thread (and as a consequence I've missed the kids growing up:eek: ) however, I could have missed the answer to this simple question. Would a diesel additive like Millers that is often recommended on this forum help matters?

In a word "NO". Read this page and a couple of previous. (I`ve read the whole thread, gained wrinkles and gone grey :o )

And to DaveB ........

Thanks for the reply. My mind was wandering whilst reading - well that's my excuse.

apparentlly dealers cannot order the given part no. from the factory now ???

Good old Skoda, someone finds a way around it & they block it, why cant they let the Customers who pay there wages after all find a way around there design **** up & enjoy their cars !

isnt this the same gasket fitted to pre euro IV cars??

if I am wrong ignore the next 2 lines

If so what if my 53 plate needs it at some point??

must be avalible even under a different part number?

It could be the case

IIRC, when we started retrofitting cruise control, after a while, VAG cottoned on to this and you were no longer able to buy the stalk and wiring loom bits needed unless it was a "replacement" part. This is what everyone used to say, but you now need to provide a VIN of a car which is having the parts replaced.

If Euro 3 cars do have the different sized gasket, I suppose it may be a similar case and you'd need to provide the VIN of a euro 3 compliant fabia vrs in order to "qualify" getting the part.

500 gaskets for Vin Plate 00056372373 please (random no).

Thanks!

Tried to order gasket from dealer a couple of days ago. "Sorry that part No is no longer available. we would only supply one on a like for like basis."

What was the gasket material like Mouse ?. I presume it was the metallic type, only i've just spotted a thin sheet of galvanised steel in the shed near my drill !!!

Possibly a spot of DIY one morning ???.

Perhaps should have said hello everybody before barging in with my first post !!!

They've probably been reading here again.
