RE: 2006 vrS OWNERS STUTTER - SKODA UK FIX

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I thought I'd let all of you know that Skoda UK contacted me today to inform me of a fix that they've had 'approved' for the stutter. Jolene, the Customer Service Rep. that I spoke to thought that it consists of a part, rather than a software fix!!

Skoda UK say that they are contacting all owners who have registered the fault with them and that the parts' will be sent to our nearest dealers as soon as they are available - in around 4 weeks time.:)

Let's hope it's worth the wait:thumbup:

I did not register but my car does stutter slightly sometimes. I may see how the "fix" affects the cars that have it fixed and then make my move.

I hope Kerry has seen this. She is in the process of sueing Skoda UK (From what she said):eek::thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Cheers for the news!

Afternoon all

Just got my brand new black magic Fabia vRS last week and wish I had looked at this site before hand.

This stuttering problem eveyone is speaking about is making a little worried. I have now done 750 miles and experinced two stutters (hesitations) both times whilst changing down from forth to third to cross a roundabout. At the time I just thought I was in to high a gear for the speed I was doing espcially as I have been trying not to rev it to much whilst running it in - but after reading this now Im not sure sure this was the cause ?

One thing it definatley does though whilst sitting still and the engine ideling is shake the whole car which is quite annoying - will this go away over time ?

Thanks for help

The engines do smoothen up a little as the miles pile on - but I think there is a definite problem with the 2006 EuroIV compliant engine... fingers crossed the fix cures it.

Howdy folks

I am new to the whole Briskoda site and the vRS itself so a little unsure whats going on.

Are skoda basically saying there may be a stuttering problem but doing nothing about it ?

I thought buying a Fabia was going to be a good buy in terms of quality and reliabilty but it would appear from this site it is not the case.

Ive done 750 miles now and get what feels like a hesitation rather than a stutter when going below 30mph in low gears (second or third)

What should I do now ? - take back to dealer ?, should they know about this ?

Perhaps I should reject car now in case nothing ever gets sorted.

Am away to put some more miles on over the weekend and see what happens !

Thanks for help

Skoda are gathering data and looking into the problem so tehy can find a permanant solution.

Is it definitely only 06 cars that have the problem?

I'm looking to buy a used one, maybe 03,04 or 05. Weren't the 05 cars Euro4 compliant?

I believe it's only the new 06 cars that have the problem. Mine is a Sep 04 car and I've never had the problem.

If you're not happy with the way the car behaves, then take it back to a dealer and complain :D It's a recgonised problem that they don't fix it to your satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time, you are well within your rights to reject the car :D

I think the key is that before rejecting the car you have to give them an opportunity to rectify it :D

Chris

I have also just spoken to Jolene at skoda uk (didnt realise it was the same person until I read your post) I just wanted to inform them that my dealer is saying that he hasnt had a bulletin at all  but anyway, she said to me....we are aware of the problem but there is NO fix at the moment  :D I said....I heard there is a part that should be available in about 4 weeks time. She was quite vague in her reply and i was left feeling that there was and wasnt at the same time, as she then said 'yes there is a part  and it will be available in 4 weeks' but it doesnt mean its resolved!

Oh well, she did offer to ring my dealer to speak to him about the lack of knowledge on the bulletin front. But it's booked in for a fortnights time and i'm being given a courtesy car for free  wonder if I get given something nice for the day ;)

she told me the dealer will need to send a vagcom read out aswell as my details. Here's hoping :)

Hi Pixi

'Jolene' at Skoda UK phoned me back and left a message a few days after I posted this thread - see my other posting 'no fault fix for the stutter'. I'm not really sure what Skoda UK are playing at but the info you've been given is much the same as they've given me i.e. that there is no fix at the moment. I was apparently mis-informed by Jolene (who was most apologetic). As for the mystery part - who knows? There was no mention of it in my last conversation with them:confused:

Wish I hadn't stuck my neck out and raised everyones' hopes.

Sometimes apologies just don't suffice

Morning All,

I have just taken my two week old vRS into the dealer to get the stutter problem amongst other things - they claim to know nothing about it !

Anyway also phoned Skoda UK who are aware and are working on it - however according to the guy I spoke to Audi, VW and Seat have decided to call this a characteristic rather than a problem, meaning there is no fix and more importantly no comeback !!!!

Skoda have not decided to do this yet but I cant see them being any different in the end. How could they disagree with what the other parts of the group say.

Not good news indeed.

I certainly didnt buy a vRS because of its stuttering "characterstic" !

 Doesn't sound too hopeful at present.

My car has stuttered its way home this evening in 25 degree C heat.

In fact it is a lot worse when the outside temperature is hot. When I travel on a morning around 0700 hrs the engine responds to small throttle inputs relatively normally.

Wonder if something is temperature sensitive?

Hi, I have an 06 fabia vrs with 1160 miles now on the clock, I too have noticed the stutter when changing down from 4th to 3rd, with the foot off the accelerator peddle, I was hopping this was down to newness, but looking at this forum its obviously a problem. The other issue I have with the car is the noisy gearstick when left in neautral, it sounds very agricultural, I have an 03 octavia 130 pdi and I have no stutter and no gearstick noise, apart from the 2 issues I still find the car superb, but I'll pop it down to Wings of Peterborough and see what Justin has to say.

The gearstick vibration is a known problem, and a revised part was introduced a while back to fix it.
