  • Hello, after reading this thread, I decided to share the information I’ve gathered so far. I started experiencing the same symptoms as others described here: randomly increasing volume, key press sou

  • I have now been driving for four weeks after I cleaned the inside of the touchbar and have not had any issue with the volume turning up by it self. Take it apart and carefully clean it with isopropyl

Hello, I removed the connection cable socket of the multimedia sound touch bar. I only control the sound from the steering wheel.

Had it among many other problems, luckily it showed up right on the way to dealer. After fixing that they told me it was something about the settings of volume adjuster on the steering wheel and they had to recode it. Though I question competence of people on workshop's reception and won't take it without grain of salt.

I am 99.9% sure it aint the knop on the steering wheel but the touch underneath the monitor...

Other then that one problem im pretty happy with it. :)

AFAIK the volume level is displayed on the VC when adjusted from the steeringwheel, and it's displayed on the upper side of the tablet when adjusted from the touch-sensitive area under the tablet.
So try to notice if any of the two cases is displayed when you have the volume increase; this might be an indication of which is the controller  that is taking "fake input": the wheel on the steering or the touch-bar under the tablet.

My problem comes and goes. It's pretty enoying must of all because I have installed aftermarket woofer and speakers + amplifier, and the amps are overpowered so when it turns the volume up my signal clips and the cones begin to distort

Still no solution? I'm so close to sell the car just because of this annoying problem... I love the car and I have alot of money in it, speakers, amps, etc etc.. so I would hate to sell 😆

I am having the same problem on my Octavia (2022). The last post on this issue was quite a while ago - has anyone got any more solutions? I updated the software when prompted to a few days ago, and almost immediately the volume began rapidly rising by itself. It happens with both streaming radio and podcasts, and appears completely random, although usually occurs every few seconds or always within a minute. It's incredibly distracting, so I have to turn the system off.

Hey,

My car does it about every 2 months, then everyday for 4 or 5 days. Then its fine again for a couple of months!! its flipping bizarre.

I've taken it into the dealership, who actually experienced it doing the fault. They did a software update and said it was fixed.

Faulted again the next day.

Its due to go in again end of next week. They have to have the car for a couple of days, as they have to get in touch with Skoda Europe while they have the car (I'm in Australia)

They did mention entire replacement of touchscreen display unit, but honestly i think they have no idea.

Ill update after its been back at the dealer.

Hi Dandebo. Yep, that's exactly what happens! Any ideas?

Thanks, Dandebo! I look forward to hearing about the results of their investigation! 😁 Has your dealership said anything about the possibility that a software update caused the fault?

Hey,

So the car went in, they had it for 3 full days. Lots of talking to Skoda technical?

Basically they have reset the MIB, updated the software again. And then went through a heap of configuration changes related to how the MIB interfaces with the volume controls.

Now its a case of wait and see if it faults again.

My Octavia MKiv also just started doing the same, and it's definitely the volume slider under the screen. Crazy frustrating, and hoping it is a software issue.

I'd be happy to just disable the slider since I find it pretty useless anyway. Anyone know how that could be done?

Mine has just started doing this today, but it decreases the volume (luckily I suppose).

Car is scheduled to go in for other issues on 18th June.

Please keep me posted

So, I disconnected the battery for a minute or so about a week ago, and it hasn't happened since. Maybe just coincidence... who knows.

probably mine is the worst scenario!!! not only the  volume increase randomly but the radio switch on and volume increase at maximum level with the car parked and closed! Also after days without no one use it!

That sounds brutal. Mine hasn't had any issues since I disconnected the battery... Hope you find an easy solution.

This evening I try to disconnect the battery!

Afterwards, you can expect every warning light to come on. For me, they all disappeared after a few mintutes.  Just letting you know, because it scared the life out of me....

Ok ok thank you!

Same issue here. Started with the volume slider turning up on its own. Now the infotainment system today has been turning on and off and on whilst car is parked and locked. Very aggravating. Have just disconnected the battery to see if that helps. Into Skoda it goes…
