Also @Felicia98noob Speaking of, what is the water pump impellor made from? VAG plastic impellors typically have a life of 1 to 1.5 times the cambelt change interval.

No clue man

Okey, pretty sure i cleaned the whole system in an okey way, everything seems to be warm and stuff, about to put everything back together and see how it runs.

No worries i have the cap! Just took it off while thinking i have an AC 😂

  • Looks like a bodge to me, I wonder if someone had previously wired-in an override switch to that loom.

  • My concern is over the very existence of those joints, not the quality of the work under the tape.

there are more types of AC. Factory type has relays and fuses near activated charcoal canister, on the opposite side from the battery.

The vables from the fan seem to go into cockpit..?

Just to remind you, when taking a photo it is generally best if you take it in landscape not portrait as above) as this generally shows more.

In this case I see a strut brace that looks newer than the car but I could well be wrong, where strut braces standard to the car from factory?

Looks like factory brace - they were standard on cars equipped with airbag.

@Felicia98noob can you make a pic of the entire engine bay?

Could it be in there? 😂

Just found these haha maybe one of these?

@Felicia98noob from what I can see, your car doesn't have AC. That means that radiator fan is switched directly by the switch in the radiator. It also kicks in rather late, when temp gauge shows around 105° - (+-5° or more, since these switches can drift quite a lot with age)

Not one of those i guess

The cables in the ECU are exposed, no plug cap.

This means that dust, moisture, water etc are coming.

That's just heating ant ventilation, AC has extra buttons for cooling and recirculation, like this

That's for headlamp washers.

Check this part in the thermostat housing

yea okey 😂

that part looked fine.

You have what we used to call 4/60 air-con, wind 4 windows down and got at 60 mph.  😉

Whilst on side issues, any wires, cables, hoses that are close to the suspension bracing strut I would over-sleeve to stop any wear from rubbing vibrations.

Your radio doesn't look like it was from 1998 so as I mentioned before check the wiring installation of that, messed-up wiring can cause all sorts of strange effects and issues, may not have anything to with the Bosch cooling fan but these things are always best checked.

ETA: I don't know what the bracket in the air vent is for both if it's for any add in electronic or electrics of any kind check that wiring too.

Hellooo again. SO the fan works it’s obvious to me know that they have done something here. The old thermostat is only two pins and its broken. I put it boiling water and it didnt connect. So i have a new one. It has 3 pins and now im confused. Please help 😂

it seems like they have done something, ALL the cables work, i have measured all of them. So.

from the battery comes a yellow and brown (grounded) cable. The brown cable goes directly to the fan motor. The yellow goes to the thermostat and then the red goes from the thermostat to the motor fan.

what do i do

blue is to the fan

yellow circle is to the battery (the red one does not continue it just stops there)

Res circle goes to the thermostat

Thia is their cable management

two loose ones are the thermostat switch

the 3 pin next two them goes to the battery (the red one in this does not connect to a cable only yellow and brown)

and the brown red big one goes to the fan.
