How do i get this unit out of the glovebox?

You need to insert a radio removal tool, like the attached ones, in each hole that you see on the front of the unit

The easy way out is to change the unit. Dont think anyone nearby does repair this stuff. Found a used one with a good price.

The part number on mine ends with B and the one i found ends with D and is a couple of years newer.

Does this matter?

You need Patch or Skoda because CP and Funktion restore etc etc

Not an easy fix then🤔

Does anyone where the 2 emergency holes are? Or what they are called?

Whilst I'm not a 100% sure yet, as I'm still researching, I think I need version E of the trim piece.

My current part number is 3V2858418 NH1 (Brushed Metal).

I think I need to get 3V2858418E NH1, which has a smaller opening profile behind the screen.

My theory, with pre-facelift, is:-

- MIB2 with 8" screen uses 3V2858418 NH1

- MIB2.5 with 9.2" screen uses 3V2858418E NH1

However I'm having trouble sourcing one secondhand as most r black from Sportline models.

These r the options:-

3V2858418E HQ1 - gloss anthracite

3V2858418E NH1- brushed metal

3V2858418E NF8 - satin black

If u have a LHD model, it will b 3V1.  RHD is 3V2.

As soon as I find out for sure, I'll update this post.

In your search for trims did you see any L&K ones? I assume they are the same as the piano black ones but with a decal on them?

just a thought, how about placing some masking tape over the gap to getthe size to fill and 3D printing a filler piece? if its in black is shoud blend in with the display, im sure there would be someone online who could 3D print it if you dont have a printer

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my infotainment unit and did a cross-flash to a MIB2.5 Columbus with the 9.2" glass screen (Part number: 565035021E, Firmware: 1440).

Everything works great, but I am currently stuck trying to update/install the navigation maps. My current NavDB shows as N/A (empty).

Here is exactly what is happening:

  1. When I try to update via the standard Navigation Settings menu, it says "Navigation database not available" and I cannot access the standard update option.

  2. When I go through the LONG PRESS MENU OPTION and read the Meta Info from the SD card, the system successfully scans the files.

  3. Inside the NavDB module selection, every single country shows a "Y" (Yes), meaning the files on the SD card are 100% correct, compatible, and recognized by the unit.

  4. However, when I go back one screen, the main "Start update" (Pokrenuti) button in the top right corner remains greyed out and unclickable.

The SD card is formatted correctly, and the files (Mib1, Mib2, and metainfo2.txt) are placed directly in the root directory.

Maps are this HIGH2_P450_EU_202625

Honestly, I never thought that swapping the hardware, ripping apart the old screen, and doing a full firmware cross-flash would be the easy part, while installing a simple map update would turn into my final boss battle, haha!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Why you To Map Update over Service Menü?

I also tried updating through the standard System Settings menu:

I went to Menu -> Settings -> System Information -> Software Update.

The screen just gets stuck on "Looking for software update..." (Traži se update softvera...) with the loading wheel spinning continuously. I left it running like this for about 15 minutes and nothing did happen...

Someone has looked at ETKA (I think?) and there doesn't appear to be a piano black version of this trim which is annoying.

looks like it's have to swap out all the trim to get it to match. :-(

After my recent post showing the MIB2.5 upgrade, I've created a How to Guide, if anyone is interested in going down this path.

If the above doesn't work, try this link.

I have failed at updating my unit.

I updated from MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3304_MU0836 to MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343_MU1433

and that seemed to work fine.

I then put MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_1_AIO_MU1440_20230504 onto freshly formatted SD card. Added the Gracenote2_AIO_payload. Updated the metainfo2 file.

Inserted card into car and it said there was a update but I think it was Grace note only, I clicked update and it did some stuff.

Then the normal menu came up but it wasn't working correctly, couldn't select items with touch and the scroll button on right would cause things to redraw incorrectly or disappear.

I turned the unit off and now it's stuck in a boot loop. Shows the Skoda Logo and stays there for a few minute, goes black and then back to the logo.

I've tried putting MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343_MU1433 onto the SD card and hoping it would get picked up on the reboot and start an install but it stays in the boot loop.

I've tried putting MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_1_AIO_MU1440_20230504 onto the SD card and hoping it would get picked up on the reboot and start an install but it stays in the boot loop.

I've run out of ideas now. Anything you can think of @JR RS ? TIA

OBD11?

Save the original long coding, and then try coding everything to 0 and see what happens.

@nick6262 - hmmmm, I'm not sure wat advice I can give here that will help.

Sorry.

With the upgrade from MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3304_MU0836 to MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343_MU1433 - that is a big jump. From memory, there would b some interim versions between to upgrade to before finally reaching 1433.

I'm assuming u switched to 9.2" screen during the MIB2 to MIB2.5 upgrade process.

This upgrade does not work with the 8" screen.

After several very warm hours outside yesterday and a very helpful person from the VAG - MIB2 telegram channel I have a working MIB2.5 system with 9.2" screen.

Somehow when attempting the first update I completely wiped the emmc which holds the operating system etc. Using UART connector, putty, python and some other clever stuff it all got put back together.

Incredibly happy now. I would like to change the home screen layout though. Massive map is a bit unnecessary.
