TPMS retrofit

skoda superb iii tpms unit on the left side or the right side?

Left or right side of what?

The system uses the ABS / ESP system at the 4 corners and just knows if the circumference of a tyre changes enough from when the TPMS was set.

My description is not detailed enough, whether the TPMS module is installed on the left or right side of the rear of the car.

I installed mine on the left side.

The TPMS module does not seem to be the part number used by Superb. After the module is installed in the left position, is the position of each sensor installed in the tire exactly the same as the display in the car?

I'm not sure wat ur saying there - sorry.

The Superb never came with direct TPMS, so I'm not sure wat part number ur referencing against.

Wat "display car" r u referring to?

U install the TPMS inside each wheel, and once u drive for a bit the module will workout which sensor is in which tyre, based on relative position of the signals received.

No you don't because you're using the ABS sensors, which are already fitted.

If u read the topic heading, it says "TPMS retrofit" - in other words this is discussion is NOT about the normal Indirect TPMS that uses ABS sensors.

Rather this discussion is about Direct TPMS that has a module and 4x sensors, which can be retrofitted.

I've retrofitted this to my Superb many many years ago.

I have installed the direct TPMS receiver module on the right side.

I found that the sensor position displayed on the virtual cockpit is different from the actual tire position where the sensor is installed.

I have installed the direct TMPS module and four sensors

The four sensors are not correctly displayed and installed in the virtual cockpit

I am doubting whether the installation position of the direct TMPS module is correct

The one I retrofitted to my Octavia is on the back right and works perfectly.

Which sensors did you fit, black or orange?

orange

Pretty sure orange ones are programmed to a particular corner of the car so you probably need to move them to the correct position.

Black ones 'self-learn' and will quickly relocate to the correct positions whilst driving.

Nothing to do with the TPMS module position.

So there is such a difference

The four black sensors must be replaced

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure u can't just replace orange sensors with black ones.

The sensors r paired or pre-programmed to the particular TPMS module.

As mentioned above - Isn't it easier to swap the wheels around so it matches?

I feel that the black sensor is more convenient to use

I have found a way to change the position without disassembling the sensor and the tire

Wait for my good news

Cheers!

@Waylon - I bought the black sensor versions. Definitely easier as u can do regular tyre rotations and not worry about the TPMS sensor.

Been 4 yrs now.

I hear the sensor has a battery lifespan of approx 6 yrs.

@JR RS@langers2k

I have programmed the sensor to a specific position in the control unit 65 using OBDeleven

After the car has traveled a certain distance, the sensor is installed and programmed to a fixed position opposite to the sensor position shown in the virtual cockpit

as previously suggested - why don't u simply move the physical tyre, with sensor inside it, to the right position, based on ur cluster?

also - the car on ur cluster looks like a Golf, not a Superb!!

wats going on there?!?!

It would be best if the problem can be solved through software programming. I can't think of what went wrong.

Yes, the vehicle shown is not a Superb, this is a replaced virtual cockpit of Seat, and the steering wheel has also been replaced with a Cupra

II think you can reprogram the TPMS sensors using a specialist tool... Not sure on the specifics :)

+1

U can't reprogram the TPMS sensors or the module using OBDEleven, VCDS, VCP or ODIS.

They have their own specialist dedicated tools.

Hi. Today i try to do this retrofit on my car! I know ...it's a old discussion, but today was my time. I have a big problem becouse vcds don't let me to change something in my abs module. I done all modification in another controllers, but in abs I can't do it. And another thing...now the orange sensors with controller are not programing . Missing ".ROD" file ! I have 3 or 4 option in vcds to choose from, but nine don't working!
