Boost reversing lights?

Featured Replies

I find the reversing lights very poor on my Kamiq (compared with Octavia's and Fabia's).

I have a difficult parking slot - reversing uphill against a wall.  Lots of talk about swapping headlamp bulbs - what about more powerful bulbs here?

Yes I know a rear camera would be best - but retrofit a lot of bother.

My father used to have an Au'tin Oxymoron. I'd use the rear fog lights on it to boost the reversing light output.

I think you will run into problems with the sensors that detect a blown bulb (CANBUS?). I agree that the reversing lights are poor.

That's what I do

I do too, but it would be preferable if there was a more powerful option for the reversing light bulb.

On my previous Octavia I had such bulbs - they were really effective and did not create a canbus error.  Unfortunately I cannot recall any details or where I got them from.  I am sure they were the result of a recommendation on Briskoda but some time ago I searched the Octavia III forum without finding anything relevant.

Doesn't it have park assist fitted?

You could always try one of these:

Thank you.  That's something I have never seen before.  I'll look into it more closely.

Only just seen your post so apologies for being a bit late. On the suggestion of someone on another Kamiq forum, I bought LED bulbs for the reversing lights and rear indicators from a French company called LedPerf.com. Admittedly they weren't cheap but they do not throw up any errors on the dash, at least not on my car.

That is very useful to know. Thank you

Hi Briskoda

Sorry for my garbled post above - I wanted to add text to my picture - but failed! Probably means text first pics later?

The replacement LED bulbs were bought from Ali Express as above.

Got my local garage to fit - they work fine - much brighter. Only negative is that the car gives me a warning message 'problem with reversing lights' and leaves a screen marker. However the screen marker sometimes disappears - so perhaps there is a way to remove - more to investigate?
