Hi, I have a Skoda kodiaq 2023 and have noticed since the latest update 2025 Jan/feb I am no longer able to access the Skoda navigation at the same time as say google maps or Apple Maps - I have reliably been able to use both at the same time before and this enabled me to get from A to B (if navigation fails in country roads for one navigation then I switch to the other without restarting navigation every time) this has worked before but not now. I have tried inbuilt eSIM on and off and use my Skoda app registered and unregistered (I have tried everything - at some point it worked temporary after update but I done know what I did to get that to happen) and I connect via Apple CarPlay with WiFi On and also tried with a direct wired connection  - please has anyone had an issue like this and how do I rectify so that I can get both to be on at the same time - I have the care connect and infotainment free plan till 25 Feb but I don’t want to pay for the updates of these until I sort this out. Any ideas ?!

Anyone have any ideas ? The other day I managed to have Apple Maps google maps and skids navigation all working together - I don’t know how but I have not been able to replicate it. ?

It has been this way 3 - 4 years already. Android Auto restrictions. God knows why.

Only solution I have found is to buy a Ottocast Android Auto / Apple Carplay wireless dongle, which acts independently from the car media center. But switching between is quite pita if needed. But this way you can have original maps on digital display and Google maps on the main unit screen.

This is with Apple CarPlay.

Apple Car Play is the basically same as Android Auto, just different platforms.

I disagree.

I have 2023 columbus with android auto. I have googlemaps/maps.me on head unit and skoda mavigation on electronic dash at the same time.

But you cant have both following the route directions at the same time.

Yes, that`s what I am talking about.

We use maps to navigate, don`t we?

You can only have 1 x nav system routing at once. As google maps doesnt know what skoda maps is doing, you can have 2 x different routes to different destinations at the same time.

If goole maps runs out of signal for data and you are using to navigate, i suggest maps.me or organic maps. I use this often in Australia where phone signal is a nice to have in many places. They both do full offline maps and can be used with android auto and are updated regularly.

You dont get traffic overlay as per waze and google though. But if you have no signal then you wont be getting traffic anyway.

Ideally the nav would be similar to Audi where google info is overlayed over the built in maps.but....in skoda, it is not.

Mybe it`s different for you there. It used to work here in Europe some years ago too, but then Android Auto made some restrictions.

You can have both Skoda navi and Google maps / Waze running at the same time, but only as long as you do not start active routing. As soon as you start navigate with Google / Waze / Tomtom in Android Auto, Skoda navi turns itself down from the virtual cockpit and tells that I am already running another navigation app.
