That might work but the complete reset might have deleted something that hasn't been put back. You are thinking, its still thinking that its on 25.06 may not be.

@MartiniB hadn't been able to do any map updates for a bit, I got told that on a DM but from the above it seemed to work. I know some people have updated their firmware. I believe early mib3 firmware didnt allow user map updates. By updating the firmware it fixed it.

My friend’s maps got messed up after OTA update. The dealer advised him to install those REM 21.2 maps first, and then the latest maps were delivered via OTA. I think the OTA update content matches the offline one, just with a different number of regions, since OTA mainly loads the region where the car is driven most often. In any case, I’ll wait for the 25.12 maps, which should be released by the end of the year, and I’ll try with those. My software is the latest one for my unit, released in 2024.

Its that SWDL menu that I reckon is in mib3 but you are locked out of it. Mib2 high its that menu that allows you to upload any file into the system over writing what is there. Maps, POIs, firmware. Its that which you want which was on the developers menu of mib1 and mib2. Had to be enabled in mib2 and I reckon thats a no go area in mib3 unless ODIS gets you into it via enabling it ?. Obdeleven gave you an option in mib2 but everything is locked down now... least my understanding unless you are Vag licensed.

I have access to GEM, but it seems to be a reduced version. There’s some kind of SWDL here as well, it even has a checkbox for manual download, but nothing changes.

That looks like SWDL 👍 If its like mib2 high one you can write backwards as well as forwards and over write. You could try a previous map file.

Well if the USB is correctly formatted and the files unzipped and placed in the correct position on a blank USB... if like mib2 high you'd hit Start. It would examine the contents, do the signature check. A 5 or 10 second delay, then progress to another menu. If its not doing that may be presentation issues or the menu not working.

When pressing the button, the updates menu opens, but since the maps are installed in the background and don’t appear in any of these menus, there’s nothing here. I’ll try reinstalling the latest software using this menu, maybe that will help.

I tried using SWDL, but it turned out to be useless and didn’t work. I still ran the update with the same software that’s currently installed. From the whole update, only the postscript part was executed, and as I understand it, that was the key step. After that, I found out that Seat and Cupra had also updated the maps on their website and released version P141 24.12. I copied it to a USB stick, formatted in NTFS with a GPT partition scheme, and tried updating - and it worked. Then I uploaded the latest version, P154 25.6, and it was successfully installed as well. Hopefully this will be useful for someone.

P.s. after "reapplying" the software update, the radio database version changed from 1.31.56 to 1.31.48, so I think that’s what helped the maps install, by resetting something in the MIB versions.

Probably cleared out something in memory when you did 24.12 then moved forward from that. Still it's working now. Pity swdl doesnt work☹️.

2025.06 updates

thanks for info! head post updated

Hello everyone !

I have big big problem. Before few days I update manualy, ofline my maps on my MIB3 Amundsen on my Kodiak FL. Everything was ok till today. My infotainment can not anymore find it location. I am all time in Wolfburg-Germany. But I am living in Croatia. I am from location about 1300km. I downloaded maps from skoda update portal via my VIN serial number so I have downloaded correct maps but whati is now happening ? Oooou and it starts me to alert me that my option for reading traffic signs is temporarily impossible. WTF ??? Can anyone help me. I was restarted unit several times and reset to factory settings.

Thx !

That's a Mib3 issue. Possibly the answer is on another thread. Normally with MIB units, you hang onto the on/off button till a reboot of the unit occurs. The screen refreshes. Reverting to the home factory is a bug that you read about. Think it's a common issue. Whether the reboot will straighten it up pass. I'd have thought it possibly had reset itself. Factory resets I'd keep off. Better thread elsewhere I reckon for this.

Suggest the second link in MartiniBs top post which seems to be a revision. Mib3 is however a bit fraut with issues. You can follow up MartiniBs forum link he's posted. Important to all of this unlike mib2 standard you cant poke about with the files and edit them. Presentation is strict. Not to use a Mac or if you do CleanMyDrive. Recent copy of 7zip etc. That was one solution once. Built in Windows 10 or 11 file manager can be used to unzip but slower. Then the USB formated in exFat.

Over to MartiniB.

Nedávna kópia 7zip a podobne. To bolo kedysi jedno z riešení. Vstavaný správca súborov Windows 10 alebo 11 sa dá použiť na rozbalovanie, ale pomalšie. Potom USB naformátované v exFat.

Prejdeme na MartiniB.

none of the links helped me

You might have one of those difficult units or file presentation issues. Early mib3 units didnt allow you to do your own map updates without a firmware update. It might be that.

Basically you put the USB into the unit correctly presented and if all goes well it will update after being powered up for 60 minutes or so with on and off restarts. People like the usbs with the flashing leds so they know there is activity. If you were hoping to see something happening immediately it doesn't work like that.

So I'm looking for help with some packages that are supposedly incorrect, but according to other information I need a package that contains the metainfo2.txt file. Supposedly the P153_EU_2025.26 package would be suitable, but it doesn't contain the metainfo keys and I've tried the procedure several times.

Well its either presentation issues of the file, format or that firmware bug that was on mib3s. Are you in an area with connect services. Even if you dont pay the license you do get periodic firmware updates but must be logged in as primary use and accepted all terms. You might then get a firmware update other than that you might need a dealer.

I am not the first owner of the vehicle,

there were online updates but the maps are old,

I did not receive any offline upgrades,

yes I am the primary user

And you have to accept that the software can track you else you won't be othered firmware updates / be able to install them. Where people in the past went "dark" and then never got any updated.

Failing all this and anybody else's advice you might have to take out a connect services license and dealer assistance to get things going.

I would be more interested in whether someone with a similar mib3

has run any of the updates offered here.

I would also attach photos of the infotainment but I can't insert photos.

or is there an older package somewhere with metainfo2 so I can see if it

can be upgraded via usb c because I don't have an sd card slot in the unit

Unlike mib2 there is no hacking of the unit. Odd files have been found which when run compromise the unit. Yours might be one of them. Given there is zero possibly of unpicking these system if you do a firmware update thats fallen out off the backend of lorry you can get stuck. A previous owner might have done their own firmware update. Vag are trying to clamp down on DIY firmware updates. Yes you might find someone that can get you out of it. But you have no need to look at the meta file and then saving them again you will be compromised by the signature check. This is why vag clamped down on DIY firmware updates. Map updates you can do and are supported but as said not on the very first firmware releases of mib3 in all cases.

Also point out this on the thread. Evident it also fixed MartiniBs "long standing issue" but I dont reckon its for the novice thou.
