2020 L&K Superb

Hi, you say Oxford is your nearest dealer but you've doubts. If you live south of there try Winchester. Simply brilliant with electrics (and all else). I live 200 metres from a dealer, Meadens, who were utterly useless at anything other than regular service. So now we drive 30 miles to Winchester (Superb and Citigo IV).

  • You have software version 324. I never spent any time on it. Basically since 2021 its been: 278 (awful and nothing worked) - 306 - 308 - 324 - 330 - 332. 308 was needed to update after (i.e. you coul

I had a Network Error when I first downloaded maps - but in Chrome downloads there is an option to resume - I think the PC went to sleep and that interrupted it.

Nuts about the Skoda Connect though. I think I did it all at the same time when I first had the car and that was on v278 so never needed to set it up on later versions.

I tried the resume option many times, but it just goes back to the beginning and then it fails again before it finishes. I kept on trying resume and repeated the process many times, but I just went round and round in an endless loop back to the start each time.

Thanks travs for the links ... I will do some checkup and upkeep myself! 🙂

Just for laughs, I had a recent trip - I will comment separately - and after one stop the MIB would not reconnect, and I had to continue the journey with Waze on the phone screen ... I was laughing thinking exactly what I was going to write exactly in here after declaring exactky mine was running fine ... 😁

I must say though, the "wondering" between Android auto and Mirrorlnk I get it often.

Question to all: are any issues related to how many phones are linked?

I made a trip last year with a friend that linked itself to the car and it drove the system bonkers and it took me quite a while to get rid of the friend's phone from the car ....

Have you tried connecting the wifi and disabling the e-sim?

Hey @logiclee, yep... I have. I was monitoring the WiFi connection to the car, it connects but doesn't seem to use any data at all... I didn't know if the make primary user has to be done over the esim for some sort of security handshake?

The mirrorlink/AA indecisiveness is really annoying...

Can't comment on multiple phones, having enough trouble with one!

Wired AA is seemingly really unstable too, it's rock solid when parked, but as soon as I get any speed up, it starts going nuts with multiple connects and disconnects in quick succession... The phone and cable are brand new, so I know that connection is solid, and not being rattled etc...

Good to know re Winchester, I'll give them a call and see if they're more helpful! Thanks very much for the tip @Brockysuperb!

I feel your pain @Penpusher, honestly it's making me consider returning the car...

I have one of the last Mk3's registered mid 2024. It's on 0330 firmware.

This is the third MIB3 vehicle I've had. I've not had any issues with primary user other than the initial faff of registering. I do live in a strong mobile signal area though.

Android Auto on cable has always been rock solid.

Wireless was solid on my Karoq but the Superb does tend to have the odd stutter on music but rarely has a complete disconnect.

I do find VAG systems are very choosey to cables on Android Auto though and I've had new cables not work well. I've settles on UGreen cables from Amazon, never had a problem with those.

Hmmm

Interesting... Okay, I will order a couple of ugreen cables, see if that helps! Thank you!

I'm on 330 as of the weekend... Gonna try the primary user thing again later if I get a chance at work... Which is in a much better mobile reception area...

Also, just stumbled across this topic:

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/524462-superb-iv-2021-infotainment-update/

This mentions an OCU update as well as the software update for MIB... Should I be doing an OCU update as well?!

I've never actually read about OCU updates to be honest - only ever see references to MIB or Maps.

Done a bit more research and it you can get some versions from vegarz' folder here (cheers as always @vegarz ) - might have a look at that myself but I don't think its on the Software Version page so need to look to see which version I'm on.

The Dealer did a software update for me from 278 to 306 - I've always said had loads of problems with SOS button which seemed to be cure by that update but maybe they updated the OCU at the same time and never told me...

Actually - I found this thread: Thread about OCU which may explain why it was with Skoda all day. I think it was the OCU they were flashing and the MIB update was different.

Sounds interesting @travs ... I booked the car in with Winchester this morning, it's not until the end of next month... But I'll ask them about the OCU, I wonder if they will tell me what is actually going on...!

Hi all,

I spent the morning driving from Liverpool to Oxfordshire with my family in the back with the car getting stuck trying to load a user profile for 2 hrs of the journey... Picture attached. It was incredibly annoying as we couldn't use the radio/nav/any other entertainment... Thankfully we stopped for lunch and after that the car seemed to jump out of its loop and I could use it as designed...

Has anyone else had this with user profiles? Does it happen once you have managed to set a primary user? It seemed to be an issue with the guest user... I currently don't have a user account set as I have been having issues with becoming the primary user and lots of factory resets have become a bit boring...

Ouch that's rubbish - definitely a loop somewhere.

First thing to try is holding your finger on the power button until the MIB resets and see if it gets over the hurdle.

Did you notice if the emergency call button on the ceiling had a red or green led? When I was on the rubbish software, I read that pressing that use to trigger a reset (perhaps of OCU rather than MIB) - and that when the lady shouted that an emergency call was made things would progress, so you'd just hit that button again to cancel the call before it went through.

I did the hold on the power button, it made no difference... The only thing that got it out of the loop was all getting out of the vehicle, locking it and walking away for half an hour... Came back and it seemed to get out of the loop...

I hadn't tried the emergency call button, I have noticed that there only seem to be two states on mine though, no light at all or a green light...

The next step I'll try is when we're in Lithuania and I'll try in the apartment we're renting or at one of SWMBO's relatives.

We've made it to Lithuania and I've tried downloading the maps in our apartment we're renting and it was completed successfully in 35 minutes. At home, it estimated the time to download at about 3 hours before it kept failing.

I'll wait until we're home to update the maps in the car as I'm worried that something could go wrong and I don't want to be without navigation to return home.

  • 3 weeks later...

Success!

I started the software update as we left the ferry in Dover and when we made our first stop for a break it was showing they now the version dated June 2025.
