mot time

Featured Replies

Yes, it's mot time, and it's failed on the back brakes, handbrake, excessive travel, and brakes not operating evenly. I did put new shoes in some 18 months ago at the time the handbrake cable in the drum was sticking, freed off, and lubricated with probably a good squirt of WD-40. Does this sound like more of the same probs? I can't see the shoes having been worn down. Any thoughts or advice before i take the plunge on Monday and inspect the brakes oh its a 1,2 htp 2012 Fabia by the way

Remove the center tunnel you will find the handbrake cable with a 10mm spanner tight the bolt and the handbrake travel will be correct

If the handbrake cable is loose then you can get uneven braking especially if there is a difference in cable length. Also if the handbrake cable was sticking it has probably done the same again or perhaps the adjuster in drum isn;t working (Mk1 I find are prone to not adjust properly when worn). Not a bad MOT fail though. Neighbour just failed on his and its onto the second page!!
