Diesel Types

Featured Replies

Unfortunately I have to fill my van too regularly for my likeing, so my ramblings are from what I,ve learnt over the years.

As for BP Ultimate....I wont use it at the current price either.

The thing with constant fill ups is that you notice when a tank aint right.

Cheers guys, especially Andy. At least with the diesel I'll only need to fill up 2 or 3 times per week (I do 1000 to 1500 per week). What is this Millers that you speak of? Sort of octane boost type stuff?

Yep!, it increases the cetane level of the diesel in the same way as an octane booster does for petrol cars.

I always use a dosage of Millers in mine every re-fuel now! Really does help. Went without for a montha nd noticed a drop in performance!

Jon, I'm not going up against your 'SDi' until I have seen under the bonnet! ;) Not convinced that it is going to be a boggo SDi! I have no idea what gives me that idea mind!

Is that seriously quick for an SDi, or just quick in relation to other cars? Hope it's the former or you'll be disappointed :D

You reminding yourself or me? :D

Indeed, handling course, the Fabia should be quicker than an Octy estate, any Octy estate, fast sweeping track if they had similar power I reckon the Octy would shade it especially if it was a petrol one.

Should be a good comparison, if a little unfair to my SDI, but I'm game :D

Jason, bearing in mind your Fabia has double the power and 150kgs less weight, I think you'll be disappointed ;)

Are you putting yer KWs on it?

Colin, nope, my KWs aren't suitable so I won't be fitting them to the new one :(

Front end weight of the SDI is higher than for the RS, + it's an estate so weight distribution, and possibly suspension layout, is different. Removing, revalving, respringing and refitting would be a bit much for what is supposed to be a sensible car, rather than the nutter RS :(

Something for you to listen to in the new car....
