I like it very much - it looks much better when shot from a higher angle than the first two preview pictures. Solid, chunky, no-nonsense, typical Skoda.

The interior is fantastic - looks much better than the Golf, as was also reviewed in Germany in several magazines, which said the Octavia uses better materials and has a better interior finish.

BTW, the Dutch AutoWeek website says that the current Octavia will continue to be built into 2005, as we already knew, but only for the Eastern European market. This information is coming from Skoda directly. Which means that the vRS, 4x4 and L&K cars will be discontinued this year already, probably after the estate launch this autumn.

I can confirm that the interior shot looks scarily like the interior in Dad's new mkV golf... :shocked: - or maybe I've not had time to really scour the golf's interior to compare it... Job for tonight me thinks.

Oh, and eventually I'll take some piccies of the silver beast and post my opinions on how it drives. Suffice to say the 2.0 TDI engine is seriously punchy, but

None yet, and as I said the old ones will continue to be produced but only marketed in Eastern Europe once the new car is available over here.

So what will be the effect on residuals? Will the current cars become rare and sought after or rare and unwanted?

Used prices will plummet and the vRS will replace the BMW 318 as the pikey's car of choice...

Just back from Geneva Motor Show and all I can about the new Octy...is WOW!!!1 Fabulous! Wot a car. And I drove one and very nice too. The pictures on the web do not do it justice as in the flesh it is somin else..truly awesome and definitely on my wish list.

Not scaremonkering but if you go to the Octavia site, click on exterior then the picture of the wingmirror and go to the last image (image 4?) you get this:-
