Light Assist Retrofit

Featured Replies

The function I want is the lights to come on when the doors are unlocked, I never found the automatic light sensor function worked on my old car, but having the lights come on in a dark car park was always helpful. SMSTEXT can this done purely with vag come coding?

  • Sounds like the control unit is coded for daylight running. Quite a few new cars were by mistake at the factory.

  • Here is the wiring diagram.

  • I don't see a "arriving" heading or similar under my "Lights" menu... Been through everything but can't see it... Something missing perhaps?

Normally yes.

I am assuming you have the rain/light sensor fitted to your car though in which case functionality is better.

Stu this can be done on vagcom 711 beta, i found the option for lights to come on when uplocked on here which wasnt on previous versions. coming home lights has been on previous which i had back then. if i remember later i will find where in the long coding it is, wasnt hard to find as i found it (and it works) and this was a good few weeks before i had maxidot fitted.

Yes it was, it's been all of the versions I have used on CAN cars.

can coming home/leaving be done on a VRS without sensors in vag-com? a bloke in work was after getting it done

Leaving home can be yes. Not tried coming home.

cheers stu. ill take a look at it for him

forgot to say if you dont have the light sensor then the lights will come on when you open the car day/night/spring/summer as it cant detect when its dark, but it certainly makes it unique!!

Switch off the alarm bleep and indicator flash for disarming and people will think someone is already sat in your car as you walk back to it and disarm it ;)

I have an 06 model VRS without light sensors and was never able to make either option work with VAG-COM. With the new 711 it worked perfectly.

As smstext says, the lights will always come on when you open the car.

However, the coming home will only work if you had your lights already on and did not turn them off. The other great thing (for me at least) is that you lose that annoying screech reminding you that the lights are on, but no need to worry as they will always go out automatically anyway!

thats correct mkonieczko i forgot to add that!! there is an option somewhere to change the time they stay on too ;)

Glad it works, it does make the car look so much better!!

Hi guys,

Just to let you know that my VRs went to skoda today to have the need parts installed... And just had a call back from the Dealer... And it is good news, VRStu's Solution works... So all hail VRStu..

So if anyones got a similar problem... The solution that VRstu suggested WORKS whoohooo.. So pass the diagrame and pic's to ur dealers and tell them to follow it.

Will get the car back shortly so will give it the once over myself .

Thanks alot.

Ricky

Thanks for the feedback Ricky and I'm glad you got it sorted.

Shall I PM you the address for them to send my fee?

yep no problem Vrstu, i shall invoice them for you...

I hav'nt tested it for my self... but the dealers confident.. it has worked . But will confirm tomorrow when i take the car out during the day.

Ricky

Just to confirm Ricky - You have the sensor behind the rear view mirror?

Yep i have the sensor, .. I ordered the rain sensor/ light assit package (£145). Rain sensor works fine.

But they forgot the light assist.

Ricky

Am in the same boat. Just collected my vRS and all ok bar missing Light Assist  Why is this missed off so frequently?! What's the problem? Almost as if Skoda themselves decide not to fit it - this can't be coincidence...

I was not happy - talk of reordering/load car/cancelling etc.. Luckily, the Sales Manager stepped in and thought it wise to double check with Skoda technical who explained it WAS possible to retrofit aslong as rain sensors specced, which mine has. So the car is booked in Wednesday to have it done - on the understanding that if it doesn't, I shall have a rethink.

Brilliant handover though (I shall be posting comments re the dealer - who does look on here from time to time!!). The car is wonderful - absolutely stunning in Race Blue and Estate form :thumbup: Slightly anxious about Wednesday though....sure it will be fine.

Cheers

We now know it can be done which is good news so there should be no excuses.

Glad you have the car at last though. Time to edit your signature.

I wonder if the mistake occurs from mis ordering the correct PR codes.

Sig changed! :)

Its partly the codes, yes (LA has a seperate code despite being a "pack" in the brochure) but ultimately its the dealers fault for not checking - I mean, its not difficult is it.

Still, its all about customer service from here on. Onwards and upwards I say. Relieved to hear its going to be ok - cheers for that Stu. Can you confirm that LA will add, amongst other things, the lights on feature under the wing mirrors when unlocking the doors?

Obviously this code will be missing off the service book - worth getting the dealer to add this and maybe sign for it, just to save any confusion in the future?

The vRS doesn't have puddle lights on the doors.

Wouldn't worry too much about the PR codes now.

Ah what?! I thought it was a very nice feature!! Can that not be fitted/coded? Surely it can't be difficult?

You'd need some wiring in the door and I'm not 100% sure if you'd need a new mirror or at least the light part of it.
