  • 490,000 miles on original engine never been opened , just passed taxi test yesterday love the old sdi .

  • A landmark reached 3 weeks ago. Car is running better that ever! VAG

  • Achieved on Thursday. Still runs well, once it starts (fuelling problems prevent starting at times; under investigation).

218k on my 55 plate BKC Octy 2. Had her since 28k. I was planning on selling, but will run it into some higher miles. Body rust and an unexpected component failure will maybe see its death. But nothing too expensive and it will live to see another day.

206k on my mk5 Golf 1.9PD. The engine and gearbox are as strong as ever but rust had started to eat the car.  MOT this Friday coming.... sad times.

RIP 2000 Octavia MK1 1.6 MPI AKL Petrol engine, driven to the recyclers today, driving perfectly with 287,000 miles on it, no market for it because insurers are refusing to cover older cars in Ireland, shame!

Update: amazingly the Golf passed it's mot with only a few advisories (milky headlights, brake dust shields corroded/fallen off)

208,000 miles on my mk2 Octavia

Nice one !

122,000 on a 15 plate Superb 2.0 diesel SE. 3 years old in a couple of months - but due to be replaced in early March with a new Superb SEL Exec. No issues /costs just normal servicing and consumables plus a couple of fuses under warranty.

Memories , wish i had kept my 2004 mk2 1.9 tdi BP130 54 reg , scrapped it at 254k miles for the Skoda scrap deal end of last year , got the £3.5 k  and bought a new octavia.  Only Needed in the 13 years running it ,  previous work was 1 new set of discs and pads all round , 4 cam belt changes , Front wheel bearings , Rear shocks , Rear Exhaust , rear door lock replacing , front ball joints replaced , oh and 1 New Battery .It was still running on the original clutch , but felt sure that was going to go soon and the scrappage was a good deal .

Drove my 2002 MK1 1.9 TDi to the recyclers last month with 325000 miles on the clock, I had been trying to kill it for 13 years with no success, rear brake discs, coolant temp sensor, alternator brushes, one cam belt alone, no pulleys water pump or tensioner, one battery but it was the shatnav that killed it, rear shock bump stops, cant think of anything else, oil and filetr change every 2 or 3 years, never changed fuel or air filters, always returned 55-65mpg.

looked like a shed towards the end but was still driving like new and never used a drop of oil the whole time, she would have gone on for another 10 years I'm sure, it was doorlock canbus electrics problems that proved too much for me, having 3 doors permanantly locked did not gel with a new love interest :D had I bought VCDS before hand I could easily have solved the problem which was just the recoding of the comfort control module.

It was so simple and reliable that in all that time I never needed VCDS nor even knew there were canbus modules.

Replaced with a 2006 MK2 and soon realised I needed VCDS and to get up to speed with the next generation of vehicle electronics albeit 12 years old already.

Thought I would reply to the closest one myself. 230k at the moment 1.9 105bhp BKC engine. Elegance spec inc MFSW and maxidot.  2005/55.

Motorway miles. Few  cambelt changes, SMF, coolant radiator. Cupra consoles. rear shocks and bump stops. Alternator pulley. Rear eccentric bushes.  Battery. Fuel filter replaced as lid rotten.

Air con packed in. Drivers seat base gone. Rust showing in places. Original turbo. Exhaust. Wheel bearings. 2 glow plugs replaced under warranty 2 paid myself. Still going strong. Superb combi takes the miles, this does 10k only now annually.

We have a Mk2 Fabia VRS with 65,000 miles on its original CAVE engine - does that qualify as high mileage?

That's not high mileage.... it's a miracle!

;)

  • 3 weeks later...

Cleared 240000km - 150000miles - in the insignia last night coming home from the gym.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just under 151000 miles in my 2003 Mk1 vRS Estate. My target is 200,000 (at least) but it'll take a fair few years to reach that. Engine is standard and will be staying that way if I can help it! :)

Got to 235,000 in my 2001 Mégane 1.9dci before selling it. Never had anything major done. The only things that weren't really consumables service items were low pressure fuel pump, windscreen washer pump, caliper guide pins. Was still on original clutch, injectors etc and getting 55+mpg. Regular servicing with decent oil and miller's diesel clean helped I'm sure

200,000 miles every year for 5 years, an average of 550 miles EVERY single day for 5 years non stop. So driving at least 10-12 hours every day without fail for 5 years. I call that bull****e.

Clearly just an advert to appeal to mathematically feeble minds.

I dont agree to their tracking cookie policy so cant read the article. But yeah, that does sound like bull****.

Kilometers is a bit reasonable at round figures 330miles/day.. but still, EVERY day...

I like driving too but not as a prisoner of the steering wheel.

Not only would it be physically and mentally impossible and grossly breaking local laws for maximum driving hours commercially, there would be no time for servicing or maintenance/repairs, toilet breaks etc.

Clearly another US fake news article.

A bit like Mr 3 million Volvo miles man, who although more feasible, is clearly riding a Volvo rebuilt every xxxxx miles car and who can't have any social or domestic life as we know it.

I will be 293 years young when my Vrs reaches 3,000,000 miles. Hopefully the Government will not have banned FUN by then!

I have now got a Ford Focus 53 plate

just gone over 100k miles

My sisters Honda Civic 2.2 CTDI (56 plate) has gone over 200k
