Stu have you managed to look at the coding on an Octy 2 with one of these factory fitted?? Just curious reference the parking sensors etc and whether or not they are displayed on the screen on factory fit cars...

No i've not but I suppose I could.

I know there is an option to monitor the reverse gear selection.

Stu, i have heard rumors that UK post coding does not work with the MDF3 is this true?

Yep. Same for all the RNS510 devices.

I'm sure they will release an update soon.

how will this update be released will it be in the form of a flash update at a service if factory fitted?

Simpsons will do it for you and I think they have one or two kits left. Phone and ask to speak to Ants or PM him on here.

I know that i should ask these question at the same time so sorry for the multiple postings, but do u know of anyone the Nottingham area that will do this? and the same do u have some rough costs?

Sorry not aware of anyone in Nottingham.

I would think so. Not sure if it is a map or firmware limitation though.

I am hoping to to find somone in nottingham or local area to do this but so far have not enquired. Failing that it may be a day trip to preston as I believ Simpsons there do it.

I assume you know the local dealers?...

Farmers (was previously Renshaw & Newsome), Mansfield Rd, Daybrook

Rainworth Motors, Sherwood Oaks Business Park on edge of mansfield

Clock Garage, Spondon, Derby

Gordon Lamb at Chesterfield

yea i do i have just ordered my new octy, 2.0lt elegance with xenon, multifunction wheel and sat nav. Whilst i was enquiring about bluetooth kits the only one that he had any knowdgle of was the delaer fit one that goes in the sun glass holder, not really what i want with the maxidot and sat nav.

so it might be a trip to Simpsons once i get the car. but i have 12 weeks to think about it. Are you looking for them to supply and fit as well? I would have a go but i dont have the confidence to takle this project.:o

The hardware bluetooth kits have been imported by me.

Simpsons do have some in stock again now. You shouldn't be too scared of attempting the install, you'll be fine if you take your time.

I only had my vRS for 2 weeks and installed the BT kit myself quite easily. Some of the trim is a bit of a swine to get off and replace but as Stu said, take your time and you cant really go wrong. If there is anyone in Scotland that has the kit and wants help I will help them if they fancy a drive to Fife! I can now code it now too as I have a VAG-COM Cable.

Nice of you to offer to help people.

me neither! Plus my car when I get it will be on my company's lease scheme so I don't want to mess anything up. I'm happy to pay more for someone elses expertise and guaranteed work even if DIY is relatively simple!

Also VAG-COM is a complete unkown to me.

Let me know if you find anyone closer to Nottingham to do this please!

Or maybe we should ask stu to do us a masterclass! ;)

Cheers :)

Please Stu........

lol I am considering doing a DIY job, but its the vag thing that scares me. Might be worth tryin to do it together 2 heads better than one  well possibley anyway lol.

The VAG thing is Simple, really simple.

I may well be down in Stoke on trent sometime over the next couple of weeks (at the weekend) seeing my folks. The BT kit works without been coded but you get full function after coding. Drive to stoke and I will code it for you.

Wishful thinking I'm afraid

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay I've now seen on of these in use and have already got a first born on offer to exchange for one.

Thanks for letting me see it all in action Stu ;)

So the question becomes, anyone seen these up for sale anywhere? I presume I can order the part direct from a main dealer?

I think I've posted the part number in the thread somewhere. Be prepared to advertise a kidney on eBay though.

If you can't find the number let me know and I'll dig it out for you.

Fluff'

will the MFD3 give you the nice little picture for the parking sensors like the stream does?
