My dealer has just gotten an MFD3 equipped Octavia demo car, and today I got to look at it and fiddle with it for about an hour.

I WANT ONE OF THESE !!!

According to the Skoda owners manual it is also possible to get this unit to receive TV signals and show on the screen. Yes, even text TV is possible to show.

Sadly this is not possible to order here in Norway, at least not yet.

Anyone here that know more about this feature?

Yes you'd need a TV tuner box. It isn't all inside the RNS510.

Really nice unit tad expensive though! had a loan audi a4 when i had my car serviced and you really cant beat the oem systems i dont think..

does anyone have a price for this unit ???

They are £1400 ish as an option on a new car. VW ones on eBay are up to 1£1k and Skoda ones are hard to find.

OK, but the owners manual explains how it works so clearly it must be a VAG item?

It is.

It is.

I meant the TV receiver must be an VAG item.

The Owners manual says:

"Explanation of technical terms:

The TV receiver in the radio navigation system is equipped with a "hybrid receiver" capable of receiving both analog and digital TV stations via the vehicle aerial"

If the receiver is not physically inside the RNS510, at least it must be an item in the car that is originally mounted at the factory?

I know what you meant and I know it is a VAG item.

The US version of the RNS 510 also has Sat Radio.

Is there anything You don`t know?:D

Bump.

Is this possible?

I don't know if anyone has experience of this but does the MFD3 support SDHC cards or is it just the standard SD cards?

Do you have an SDHC Ian? You can slip it in my slot if you like :naughty:

Not supported, just standard SD max. 2 GB.

At least that is what my instruction book says...

If only. :orb_bath:

No I was just curious really. I already have a couple of 2 GB cards and might even take a gamble on a 4 GB one as I can use it in my camera.

I found this earlier so I thought I would share. Secure Digital card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is a DVD or 20gb on the HD not enough for you then??

Time will tell ;)

You can never have enough storage.:D

Hi, just a couple of questions about rns510 and reverse gear engaged, do we have any graphics as in stream unit?, and about the volume, it gets lower or not? Thanks

As per the MFD2, you loose the graphics display and the drop in volume. You still get the beeps though.

The RNS510/Columbus is configured for a reversing camera rather than a graphical display of the sensors.

Seeing as you mentioned DVD Stu.

Can it cope with +-RW's or is it+-R's only and can it cope with Dual Layer discs?

So many questions might make you think I had one coming.;)

TBH Ian I've not tried.

I assume DL is ok as DVD movies are fine.

Recordables that I have tried have all been ok.
