ps If you're still off your face on drugs (medicinal or otherwise) I'll tone down the sarcasm ;)

Ok, I'm not yet sober. What did I say? I remember saying I think it's better in the warmer months but everyone else wants it in the winter. If others want to choose another date then that's fandabydozy with me. Let me know and I'll make sure Mr P isn't working.

Erm Pixi, you need to start selling whatever it is you are on outside the festival next year...

You could make a fortune.

You set the date and we come :)

I'd sooner stick to the original date. :) It gets pretty hectic for me after March with work and other commitments.

I don't do drunkeness very well. If I do set another date then the whole thread will have to be changed. I don't mind, lets see what everyone thinks.....How about somewhen in april unless there is loads of other stuff going on.

We can't have it too close to Weston or noone will come :(

I'd say leave the date then and just run with it, only slight issue is that is effectively valentines weekend.

When does Alum Bay reopen? :P Me need more sand filled ornaments

Btw, I think it will be closed

HTH (It's a great help to me)

keep the same date

At the risk of starting another riot, what's the plan for the day as we'll have Jess with us and may only appear for part of the day? There is a plan, right?!

I am aiming to get a plan sorted in the next few days and post it on here. After lunch kind of takes care of itself, so if anyone has any ideas on before lunch then go for it. I'm trying to be mindful of choosing routes with the least risk of losing people.

Does anyone have any walkie talkies they can bring to give to me (obviously being the lead) and the last car just in case? I've just been reading through last years thread and I booked that pub for 12.30/13.00 as they close at 15.00. So i think we should stick with that.

Are you guys going to meet up at the Mayflower park again so you can board the ferry all together? Also, what time were you all thinking of going back? Last year was the 20.30.

It looks like we could have about 25 people for lunch if everyone who has put their name down is still coming. I'm not sure the pub can handle it

I have discussed a route that takes us from the ferry terminal around to various points on the east coast such as the Duver, sandown, shanklin etc. I am in the process of getting some postcodes sorted for various stopping off points just in case someone gets lost.

I may be very organised and give you maps with points written on or failing that you guys can be organised and print the map off before you come. Here is the linky....

After lunch we can do what we did last year and drive up to Blackgangs view point car park then up the milly to compton where I may give Harri a quick run tide permitting and then on to Alum Bay (:thumbdwn::D). after that we can head straight into Newport where the Quay pub is which is next door to the travel inn if Gilly is staying there. Then it's homeward bound.

Is everyone going for the 20.30 return sailing like last year? If not it will be 22.00.

im having to pull out as minitext refuses point blank to go and will just cheese everyone all day with showing off sessions. sorry all, maybe another one will turn up when its a weekend she isnt with me.

back to a maybe atm swmbo depending... might have to and stay with her in cheltenham :(

I think possibly an earlier sailing back, but I'm easy with either.

Just debating whether to bring the bodyboard and wetsuit :D

I am DEFINITELY 3 up in my car. :)

Hey guys!

Do u think it might be possible to do a quick stop off in the morning in Havenstreet at the Steam Railway before lunch. As I think the Island Skoda Dealership (FH Winters) might want to take some promotional photos and this is the closest large space near to them!!?

I probably won't be able to make the lunch, depending on time as my midday is already booked up but hopefully will return for the pm run about!!

That sounds cool - but it would be down to Pixi to factor this into the days events :D Also, given our traditional clockwise route around the island, this could be event #1 of the day, so would be around 10am ish I guess?

  • Author

Well, that depends if they are going to give me a good deal on my up and coming service :D

It would be possible to stop there on route if the deal is good enough ;)

BTW.....How many of you have satnav?

This could be important as I am collecting postcodes for nav points.

I have tomtom now - new upgrade compared to last year's. :D

Updating the first page with the plan and post codes now.....

Looks like we're not going to make this now (so I'm sure you can now happily strike off the Alum Bay part of the tour :P). Hopefully will be able to make a summer one when work dies down a bit....

Hope you have a great time :D
