Comfy

totally unstressful to own

swift, if not truly fast

wet/icy weather grip

absolutley brilliant all-round car

BAD

handling approaching and on-limit, and not throttle-adjustable

brakes disappointing

no passion/character

white seats ridiculous

far too nose-heavy/far too heavy generally

cup holders' position and size useless

Good:

Un-pretentious image.

Effortless performance in any gear.

Fantastic 6-speed gearbox with a slick change and perfect ratios.

1-litre city car running costs (costs no more than my 1.1i 106 to run...)

Simple, unfussy interior.

Excellent refinement and comfort levels for such a small car.

Good kit level (includes cruise + CD changer)

Looks ace in Yellow.

Entertaining to drive fast.

Really quick A-B without really trying.

Leaves mates very impressed!

Bad:

White seats look good, for 10 minutes. Then they look manky.

Occasional interior rattles over rough surfaces.

Rear end attracts muck like a magnet.

Handling on the limit is far too neutral. More rear end action please!! (errrr....)

...and thats about it.... :o

GOOD

Cheap to run

Cheap to insure

Reliable engine

Under estimated (by some)

Effortless driving

(I even like the standard brakes and springs)

BAD

Never clean enough (especially currently)

White interior is a joke

Steams up real bad

Noisey (compared to new diesel engines)

Tail pipe is a pain to keep shiney

Love it though

Had mine for a few months and covered 7k miles.

(05 plate, chipped to 180bhp, sachs clutch)

Good:

Plenty of power/torque where it's needed

Economy day to day (46-47 mpg average so far, driven quickly over empty A+B roads for 90 miles a day)

Reasonable priced servicing

Insurance (2nd car, 0 NCD, 23 year old policy holder, £400)

Decent cost per mile for the performance (based on 25k miles a year)

Love the element of surprise. (LOL, it's only a silly wee Skoda. *zooms off into the distance*)

Bad:

Power all comes at once (to be expected - but can be fun too)

Soggy handling

Seats aren't comfortable on longer journeys

Crap brakes

Tiny washer bottle

Seats get grubby quickly

Image (LOL, SKODA *points* etc)

Expensive 60k service coming up

Eats through front tyres!

Back gets VERY VERY dirty

Wheel corrosion

Think that's about it. Great wee car, but too soft and shopping trolleryish as standard. Don't think it's worth spending money on brakes/suspension to sort it out, as it's only for getting me back and forward to work.

Bad:

Dealer network and customer care

Depreciation

Soggy handling as std

Water leaks

Dealer network and customer care

Dealer network and customer care

Dealer network and customer care

Dealer network and customer care........

^^^^Agreed!

Like everything else about the car though! :D

the

GOOD

Image

Power

MPG readout

Colour

the

BAD

Windscreen wash resevoir needs filled up almost every trip in this weather

Annoying beeping when its near freezing

Think mine is near the same as the original poster.

So just added a couple of my own thoughts.

VRS with xenons has 5 litre washer bottle

Really!?!? Mine has lasted less than a week now from full! Cant believe how quickly it runs out!

I'd make a list myself but everyong has pretty much summed up all the same thoughts i have had after having the car for about a month now.

Really liking it and think i made a good choice with the VRS over anything else.

Though not strictly speaking the cars fault, the stereo has a rediculously sensitive volume adjust, as in ' I like this track, think i'll turn it up slightly (car goes over slight bump) oh, now my ear-drums are perferated, slightly reducing my enjoyment.:bigeyes:

I just like mine. All the bad points mentioned so far don't really matter to me. :)

Depreciation? Yeah, right. :D

Noisey - Am I the only one who likes a bit of a racket?

Gets mucky quick? yeah, but I don't mind washing her

Rattles? Possibly, see "racket" - helps for drowning this out.

small washer bottle? Well, I don't seem to fill mine up that much. At least it tells you when nearly empty. :)

Handling? Sure, as stock, but fiddle with it a bit and it's better.

Attracts gay men? But funny.

Stereo? Well, I've had Pioneer MP3 players in mine for 3 years, so can't comment on stock setup.

Had very few true niggles that either got me down, or were not of my own doing ultimately. :D

On the subject of stereo 'issues', when listening to a cd, reverting back to radio is a (only slight) pain in the vrse, holding down eject, cd comes out then goes back in blah blah, why not just a simple cd/radio toggle. I suppose such silly negatives re-inforce what a cracking little car it is on the whole, but we all already new that...:sqwink:

Take a look at this thread

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/passengerside-glovebox-rattle/89803/

you may not have thought about invetigating under the bonnet yet, but this fixed my annoying passenger side rattle a while back

Thanks! The only thing in that thread that I did related to the orange clip in the bonnet itself. I just shoved a folded up post-it note between the base of the orange clip and the soundproofing, to make the fit extremely tight. It's stopped the rattle successfully! Thank you very much.

The only rattle I can find (which is very infrequent now) relates to the passenger side seat belt rubbing against the trim around the handbrake. I think that one is easily solved, though, and besides it doesn't bother me too much at the moment...

Thanks!

You can just press the AF button?

Good

- Fast, ok, fast-ish

- Easy overtaking on A and B roads

- Quiet

- Uses little fuel (500 miles a tank :) )

- Very little has gone wrong

- Still very glossy after a wash

- Solid feel generally

- This site and forum

- Chasing Mini Coopers and winning, and yes racing on the road is childish :o

Bad

- Interior is a little dull except for...

- Grubby white seats, especially if you drop a hoola-hoop down between your legs and then forget about it for 200 miles...

- Clutch struggling after remap (yeah, I know I go on about it)

- Good dealer kind of turning useless as the warranty end draws near ("we can't find your car on our warranty system...")

and I suppose a new category - Getting Better :

- I have a local specialist to take over from the dealer in walkable distance from home...

As I have spent some money on my VRS I have an agreement with Mrs A to keep it for 5 years which is no problem just now. I'm kind of worried about replacing it though as there is no new VRS and I'm not sure it will be Diesel ?

AF button does that. My main moan about the standard radio is that AM just doesn't work (radio has been replaced) and switching from AM/FM requires that long pressing of the button rubbish.

*(goes off to edit previous post about radio)

Thought I'd post my views as as 'standard' Fabia owner (PD100 Elegance):

Good:

Most of it to be honest. Never been so impressed by a car before.

Looks

Equipment

Fit and finish

Great fun to drive, really great fun!

Plenty of power

Outstanding economy (60mpg plus)

Excellent heating/demisting, though the diesel takes a while to warm up on very cold days. Aircon is great, demists the car in seconds, could never be without it now

Always had good service from Skoda dealers (including 10 previous years with a Felicia)

No grubby white upholstery on the Elegance:P

Bad:

Leaky doors - very easily sorted but should never have been a problem in the first place. That it should still be such a major problem 7 years on is disgraceful

Side air bags should have been standard

Rear seat space is a bit cramped compared to the Felicia, though headroom is better

That bl**dy seat height adjuster - why does it have to be so big?!

Over all a fantastic car:D

I've had all sorts of cars in my time..renault 19 16v, toyota mr2 bmw 730, merc 220 esprit etc etc

give me my baby anytime..i actually stroke her as i drive along, i'm so much in love with her..the look of other drivers when they've been 'done' by a skoda is worth every penny of the £13010 i paid..and she looks sooooo gorgeous when she's scrubbed up..my best buy EVER !!
