Camping Trip to the Lakes - Friday 27th - Sunday 29th June

Featured Replies

There's nothing wrong with using the camp site as an "accomodation base" and going somewhere else to have a loud late night laugh, if the need must.

Not everyone will want to be up late either, espcially those bringing young kids ? And if the tents are all round a "possibly" noisey area it could get a bit annoying for those who do want some sleep eariler than others.

Very true, is there like any pubs in the nearby vicinty to the campsite??

It's the atmosphere though. You can go to the pub anytime. We weren't overly noisy last time. We had one campfire with a bit of music and one a few yards away with no music for chatting. It was really nice.

Sorry, I got the impression from the posts that it may be overly loud and well you know etc etc

Lolol!! Who is providing the stereo then?

I'll bring mine.

listen, as Andy knows, you can just turn up on your own at most camp sites in keswick on a summers day and not get in! I never even expected to be able to get a campsite at all , and absolutely NO campsite but this one has said we can reserve space, so I think I've done well! we can drunk, but just behave like normal adults! no fire as that would obviousley kill the field! we have a "section" to ourselves so that should be fine.... I cannot create the rules....

I could easily find a field, but you would have no toilets/showers ect, which would put 90% of people off...

the last campsite Andy , has that field taken (some agricultural "rotating" thing... sileage at the moment I think!) and there is no-where else to go.....

Sorry Dave t'wasn't having a dig and know you will have put in lots of leg work, I had got the impression that you had decided on this location because they had a field with better amenaties than the last or the rugby club. I was just throwing in the mix that basic amenaties with our own field would be better than luxuary bogs and lights out by 10. Didn't know that the other place had been dug up  Like Loz I am a little concerned as most regular campsights have a noise abatement policy after 10 pm and can't understand the campsight owners logic in puttig 50 people from a car rally on his regular `site with joe public when he has a field available

Andrew

keswick has its own nightclub... :D

thanks for all the comments, but all I'm saying is, this is where we are booked... no-where else will even take a booking, let alone let a car club come, he wont put us in the extra field unless he has to because he has a limited liscence to use that field each year, and there are a million "festivals" held in keswick where the general pop of campers increases ten fold.... if we hadn't picked a weekend that was clear of the beer festival, clear of the school holidays, clear of the convention, clear of the jazz festival, clear of the mountain week, ect ect we wouldn't have got in at all! so I personally don't mind obeying by any "rules", but seeing as we will all be in one area together, I think our neighbours will just be ourselves so there shouldn't be a problem!

however if you want a rave, go to a warehouse! dont come to this meet! lol...

I really don't think there will be a problem with us having a beer, and music at a reasonable level ect..... just don't go mad!

like auran said, there are families comming ect and some people will want to go to sleep at sometime (I'm getting old, and would like to be sober enough to drive the following days!) but that doesn't mean "bed at 9pm!" lol....

just have respect for others around you, and I'm sure everything will be fine!

I have said to him, I would like to have one every year if all goes well, but I would also be happy to attend any others that are organised anywhere else ;)

note: as for pubs, keswick has a million, (and a nightclub as Col says... a very trashy nightclub though! lol..) but the campsite is 2.5 miles out of town, but many taxi's are available....

there is a campsite up the hill that has a small pub attatched, probably within walking distance......

edit: thanks to some advice in a PM I wont be posting the drive up on here, incase there are any unfriendly eyes watching... I will have printouts for people though on the day :)

Don't worry sharkrider... all your efforts are much appreciated and the venue looks brill.

anyway, you're gonna pass out before I stop drinking :P

I'm thinking about coming along now... I won't put my name down, but if it's ok for people to come along unannounced then I might head over on the Saturday. I may need to get a better tent though: the one i used this weekend is carp and lets in water, and it Always rains when I go to the lakes!

Stay away then, please please please ....

Only joking...

I don't like clubs, hence why I enjoy things like this. Last year the ngiht time was good fun. How many people can you fit in the boot of a superb, doing the 'saturday night' dance and other random merryness. I am just hoping for the same sort of thing :) Shame about the lack of fires, I was well impressed last time when they let us have camp fires! :D I will just have to bring stupidly warm clothes lol I get cold easily at things like this :(
