Fabia in standard form, not a hot hatch.

Fabia in tuned state, hot hatch.

Fabia in high state of tune, red hot vindaloo hatch.

End of story

Not end of story - your opinion.

The majority who've voted think otherwise. End of story.

You get the idea.

Is the fiesta ST a hot hatch?

If it is

So is the fabia vrs

Im going to argue that one, mainly because I'm bored.

The Fiesta ST, whilst not tremendously fast is lighter, faster as standard, and handles infinately better than a standard Fabia vrs. I would therefore say it is not comparable in a genre type way. Having said that, I wouldnt say it's a hot hatch either.

The Fester ST is a pretty warm small hatch.

So the ST and the vrs are both warm hatches

and the ford is better:thumbup:

LOL

There all Hot hatches,

Why?

Because they are all the Manufactures 'hot' version of there standard road cars,

So to answer the OP in my opinion all so called hot hatches are 'hot'

Some are quicker than others and some are not however

Thing is - what IS a hot hatch anyway?

If everyone can agree on a standard single definition, then perhaps things could be discussed objectively without any handbags being used in anger.....

Hot hatch in my view is any hatchback that has a warm sporty version or maybe two or 3 doesnt have to be the top sporty one either

Hot hatches, eg

106 gti

VW polo Gti

Fiesta Zetec-S

Basically anything with a GTI badge then, ROFL,

and they dont need to be the quickest either, anything that is a sporty version of the Plain version

There has to be a cut off point

Maybe

0 to 60 in under 10 seconds

and a top speed of

120mph+

Thats the zetec out then:D

That was a blatant example, It is a Hot hatch as it is the Sporty / hot version of the plain one.

That is what a hot hatch is

Here is a wiki description, which I agree with totally. Being old.

A hot hatch is an informal or slang term for a high-performance derivative of a three (or sometimes five) -door automobile. The term is more popular in Europe because of the popularity of hatchback configuration. The United States also uses the term sport compacts, however, this deviates from the true orginal meaning of the hot hatch terminology. Vehicles of this class are typically based on a budget, family-oriented automobile, and equipped with improved suspension and a more powerful engine. Front mounted petrol engines and front wheel drive is the most common powertrain layout.

PS - it seems to be full of hyperlinks

Zetec S back in then.

Uprated suspension and power ;)

Based on a family-oriented automobile?!?! Not sure I agree with their definition

Chris

Zetec S back in then.

Uprated suspension and power ;)

Uprated power from what...we could all argue about individual cars, but Im standing by the fact a 100 bhp Fiesta, that weighs best part of 1100 kgs, is not hot...or even warm. Its dog****.

DOh!!!
