First vote......

I think it already is a "hot hatch" everybody is diferent here but all you really change on a vrs is performance !

Gary I think in your case, you/we could say Your fabia vRS is a FQ vRS...

I would say the fabia's status as a hot hatch is primarily down to how you drive it, but mods certainly help!

Tho i'm not actually fishing,it is a genuine question,as the only people who seem to think its a warm hatch are the skoda owners, maybe they are playing the car down so they can spring a suprise or two, personaly i don't think its a hot hatch as standard, they handle like sponge cakes, but they sure have a good bit of poke:D

I believe its a hot hatch as standard tbh. It may not be the hottest, but its definitely hot! Even Richard Hammond says so "It might be a diesel, and it might be a Skoda, but its definitely a hot hatch"

Quite quick as standard in a straight line. Not the best at corners as the TG Mini VS vRS showed. So in my opinion for it to be a hot hatch, the main mods needed are to make it corner much better, not just making it quicker in a straight line. :)

Bloody defo a hot hatch!

We showed them yesterday! Pug 205 gti's are ment to be one of the best handling hatchs around and stripped out modded track ones whould have eaten the fabia!

we overtookl one pug on the dedicated track session and the rest couldnt keep up!

this was on the small track at bylton too, where you would have thought the fabia would have been at a dissadvantage.

and if you dont believe me go on scoobynet and search for a guy with username dunx. he had a 300+ very sorted scooby and was very impressed with garys fabias handling!

Blyton - The Thanks, The pictures, The Chatter.....

he scared me silly in the wet, what with 350horses,he couldn't attack the kerbs as hard as they unsettled the imprezzas and sent themspinning into the tyres,i followed one of the sti wagons in and he lost it in the wet,and my car got through the corner no drama about 10mph quicker,i think my fabioa is a hot hatch, well there were no imprezzas managed to catch it yesterday,or mi16 engined 205 track cars, and johns turbo dynamics stage 2 equipped motor was pushing sti scooby's down the straights, and catching wrx's,we showed em what a deisel should go like:thumbup:

I think it's warm out of the box, but like Tom says, with few handling mods it becomes quite hot. Then with a slight increase in power ;) it's tsssssssssss hot.

Fabia's tend to do well compared to alot of cars on track, mainly IMHO due to the low down grunt out of the corners. I don't believe for a second that Fabia's handle as well as Impreza's. Especially in the wet. In fact - I know they don't. I'd be putting that down to the driver's mate. Not taking anything away from your or anything, it's just a fact.

the diff makes an unbelievable difference, the car was soooo much better on track than i had right to expect,or maybe with a reasonable handling car and 14 years of track day expierience maybe its me who was the standout feature of my cars performance, all i know is i was one of the swiftest cars round that track yesterday, and out of 40 odd divers we can't be expected to believe not one of them could drive eh;)

I think it would have been a different storey at somewhere like silverstone, where big power can overcome sweet handling, but on a tight technical airfield track, the fabia's riened supreme:thumbup:

I wanna give my diff a blast on track! :( Not going to be really able to test it how I want at the Ring due to the consequences of getting it wrong. I suspect the North Weald day will be the first time I can safely give it some proper stick.

They are unreal,i had sooo much mechanical grip in the dry it was stupid, when the rain first came i was struggling, but after another 4 or 5 sesions i managed to find enough grip to have the confidence to go fast again,a great day,now i need another 100 horses:D

As standard its warm same as Corsa 1.8 SRI, Ibiza 1.9 FR, Polo GTI 6n2.

With a remap, ARB, lowering springs it's a hot hatch.

I like the Fabia vRS but wouldn't call it a hot hatch. It is definitely a warm hatch but spend a relatively small amount of money on one and then it does become a hot hatch.

just out of the box sorta black pepper hot - modded = tabasco hot.

They are correct, I wouldn’t want to disagree either;):D

A hot hatch has to be in the leagues of the Corsa VXR, Ibiza Cupra 1.8T, Clio 197/182 IMO

The fabia as standard is not, but then given its insurance and running costs thats maybe not a bad thing

IMO the standard car is hot. 0-60 is nothing special but in the mid range it's sooooo satisfying to leave others gasping for breath.

I think its more of a warm hatch as standard really. 130BHP isnt insufficient power , but the Fabia weighs so much that its power to weight ratio and cornering ability is compromised. Think of a Mk1 Golf GTI , They didn't have masses of power , or trick suspension , but they were light cars , and I doubt anyone woul have an argument agains one of those being a 'proper' hot hatchback. Thats why handling and power mods transform the Fabia vRS, IMHO , but it still has the potential to be a fun daily driver in standard spec!

Just looking at the stats of the vehicle make you think it's a warm hatch. I mean how many of us would right home about a 130bhp Petrol?? IE: Standard 2.0 Focus? Nobody...

But put it in diesel guise, with the unsung ability for cheap BHP gains, with a smart and subtle bodykit and sum nice wheels and you're onto a winner.

I've gotta go with warm hatch tho. If u class this lil' thing as a hot hatch WTF are Astra VXRs?? Super Hot Hatches? There's a few people around here with Astra VXRs, Focus STs, and Civic Type-Rs and they all smoke me good a proper. What they've got are Hot Hatches, we've got a warm hatch me thinks.

Coupled to that this thing body rolls like nothing I've ever driven before! I have no confidence with the vehicle going into corners, not like when I drove my 306... Any suggestions on improving the handling that doesn't mean a 100mm drop on back-breaking coil-overs?

Jabba ARB + SEAT front strut bar + Eibach springs = excellent handling.

Like shifty said, with a few choice mods they are a red hot hatch.

My fabia would munch all of the above all day long. However a standard one would be left for dead.

spend the same on the above and youve probably got a stupidly hot hatch!
