Light Assist Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Could anyone tell me how you remove the existing light switch in the Octavia? I purchased a light assist unit (very cheaply) off ebay to try it out but cannot work out how to remove the old one? Any help would be gretly appreciated!

Would be surprised if you can do this. You will need the sensors in the rear view mirror, the replacement switch and a reprogramme.

I got my vRS with the auto dipping mirror, rain sensors and light assistant, but for some reason when it came the light assistant was missing. Dealer ordered and replaced switch and then had a 'mare reprogramming. Think it works now, but it isn't as straight forward as just swapping the switch over.

PS...sorry, don't no how to get the switch off, but am sure someone here will tell you.

Thank you very much. I have the sensor in the rear view mirror and will try to get the coding done but this was the main sticking point. Thank you very much indeed!

Well he popped over to see his local friendly VAG-COM geeza, and we checked the coding.

Funily enough all the coded looked to be place.

However, running a scan against Controller 09 we get the following issue

The problem is the lights are on in daylight when put on the tunnel setting?

Which happens in either his or my car - any ideas ?

Yes we checked the daylight running and it seems to be right against all the other suggestions....

Do you think we might have a relay missing or some other coding that not "long coding"

Like the seatbelt warning one ?

Checking the sticky post in VAG-COM forum section

For auto lights

DISCLAIMER: you need rain sensor wipers and test with someone elses tunnel light switch before you buy one as it may not work properly

09 – Central electrics

Long coding (07) , click yes when asked

Byte 1 – highlight ‘assistance driving light_leaving home active’and ‘coming home active.’

Transfer coding.

These are already ticked, and neither American or Scandanavia are ticked so it make no sense ?

I ran the code through Lcode last night and I wasn't sure if it looked the same as mine and hence why I asked if you'd changed anything yet.

I'm pretty sure Jeff (roo) has been playing around with this idea before.

Excellent, thanks Stu.

Suboilbib has my cable otherwise I would suggest a "Remote assistance" session.

If we can sort his car out then I'll be on the lookout for a switch also ;)

I had mine put on at the dealer (paid for option that didn't arrive so retrofitted) and I seem to have the same problem, that the headlights are always on when switch at tunnel setting. Will be going to see the dealer about it.

  • 1 month later...

I have light assist "tunnel" icon on my light switch.

Like many others - when set to "tunnel" the side/headlights are always on.

I know that its not dark enough for the lights to be on because the mirror puddle lights are not illuminated on 'unlock'.

Anyone heard from Skoda Technical for a fix?

No, was about to go outside and plug in VAG-COM

hard to tell if its working now though as its starting to get dark

I know Coming/Leaving is enabled as it works as expected and shows up as an option in MaxiDot

Lummox, Daytime running lights are not selected ?

If i put the switch to the '0' and tick Daytime lights in VAG-COM they do come on.... and looking at the LC pics above they are not ticked.... must be something else?
