  2. Hi JN12 Need to find a fabulous independent myself. Sounds like you are a problem solver. Useful asset to all
  3. Hortiguy started following Hello at last!
  4. My head unit (central screen) is completely black and not responding at all. The screen between dials on instrument panel is however, fine. Have I bricked the head unit, or does it just need a re-code? I did take it out, as needed to clean the space behind it. Not wanting it to dangle, I did disconnect it. Recently changed the battery, but that was weeks ago, and didn't cause any problems. I've found that the cabin filter only has foam on two sides, not four, so dirt was taking the easy route instead of going *through* the filter 🙄 I have ODBII, or would i need VCDS?
  5. I suspect you’re not talking bol*x Bollix :)
  6. It does indeed replacing the factory intake system. On the TDI. The EA288 and EA888 are totally different engines. The actual intake duct is probably very similar, but the airboxes themselves are not. You can, from what I've seen, potentially modify the TSI intake to fit the TDI, although I've no idea why you wouldn't just get a TSI intake to begin with. There's no shortage of Racingline/Forge examples.
  7. Just to add - the jacking point on the sill is actually only for emergency use. The car isn't designed to be lifted here, if at all possible. Absolutely get a decent jack pad.
  8. Well, this thread was a bit of a rollercoaster. I've given my car all it needs, and more, yet it keeps throwing up issues. I've now got an issue with the steering system (probably the rack, unless the drop links have decided to suddenly go), and having just spent over £800 getting some jacking point damage on the sills fixed, it''s pretty gutting. What are you thinking of next?

  10. Thanks Norman. I appreciate the comment. Not how I wanted to bow out of 16 years of driving Skodas but there we go.
  11. Fingers crossed. Interesting - on old BMW E36 forums it used to be: Car idling rough - camshaft position sensor Car idling rough and stalling - crankshaft position sensor.
  12. Hi, the below shows what you described and with a nice chunk of wood to ensure you won’t damage anything I would say this seems fine.

  15. And what do you expect after 65,000 miles without an oil and filter change? The manufacturer claims 80,000 miles without service—lol, that’s advice for the gullible. As a rule, transmission fluid in these models should be changed every 60,000 km (35,000 miles). Sure, the service schedule says engine oil gets changed every two years... lol. Of course, the engine will last as long as the warranty holds, but afterwards—you'll be left wondering, "What was I thinking?" For RS models—and especially TDI models—the engine oil should be changed every 10,000 km, and the transmission is a whole other story. RS models are driven much harder and pushed to the limit—you really need to change the transmission fluid every 35,000 miles.
  16. Use my part number in ebay with word genuine, and you get item number 277634634997 New genuine at about half price compared with dealership if you use the coupon.

  19. so do you have myskoda app? when you register you have all the brochures there .
  20. I had 2 rs tsi 2021 and 2022 year. the problem is not so much in the software, as the problem is in the mib, those devices were assembled with old processors where procurement was in chaos due to covid. there were no chips, so they used old chips. only octaves from November 2023 use new chips and a stronger processor. that with old models is a lottery.
  21. Does it mostly happen when it's wet outside?
  22. Thanks for the help chaps. But wow why on earth is getting the right fuel filter so blooming complicated Trouble is the previous owner old boy said he replaced the fuel filter a couple of years back but didn’t log the service or the part used hence yes I could see what filter is currently fitted by removing it but I don’t really know if he’s fitted the correct filter anyway as there’s so many choices even some only 1mm different on height etc.
  23. Good afternoon Gent's, Need a bit of advice. I have a Octavia iV 2021. I have installed the My Skoda app, i activate the 3 months free subscription for Care Connect and Infotainment Online, but i can't find all the options from those sections. For example the auxiliary heater, or charging location, not showing at all on the home page. Any advice helps. Thank you in advance
  24. https://www.facebook.com/reel/2854277254907176 Here you can see a short video showing the condition of the transmission fluid in a Peugeot—a vehicle for which the manufacturer claims the fluid never needs changing. Lol, they’re just waiting for you to have to replace the mechatronics unit—and a repair like that costs between €1,800 and €6,000 here in Croatia. Bon appétit!
  25. lol..By all means, stick to what the dealers tell you. Any competent automatic transmission specialist will tell you when the fluid and filter need changing. You could change the fluid at 80,000 miles for the DQ381, but you can't see the actual condition of the fluid inside the transmission. It is madness to change the fluid without changing the filter; such fluid will likely damage the mechatronics unit, causing the transmission to jerk and making gear shifts unsmooth. The transmission normally shifts up after 1,800 RPM; if it is shifting at 1,900 or 2,000 RPM, you have likely already reached the 60,000-mile mark. This device changes the oil in 40 minutes; the housing allows you to see the oil change process and the condition of the oil being replaced. You buy a £30,000 car, yet you can't change the oil after four years.😇
  26. I remember there being a short and a longer housing and filters. Suggest measuring the housing length/dimensions to help you get the right part.
  27. Armed with VIN, it appears to be the part number shown in the green box. The one below the green box is for the housing (3C0127400E) that is greyed out within the orange box of 'Pos. 1s', so I'm assuming that is not suitable for yours. No idea why your housing has a misleading part number label on it. Probably a 'subassembly' that doesn't exist in the spare parts catalogue. 3C0 127 434 filter element with gasket is a mere £41.15 + VAT from Skoda. 😆
  28. How can it be tow car of the year when the only completely working towbar is the overly expensive fancy dancy one???
  29. We've sold our caravan and swapped our 2019 Karoq Edition 2.0 190PS 4X4 DSG for a 2020 Kamiq SE L 1.5 DSG. The Kamiq was from our local Skoda dealership and met our requirements by having: Reversing camera - to assist in reversing out of our drive. Variable boot floor - to allow the dog's crate to fit when the rear seat is down Heated front seats - for Mrs SDA's bad back Amazingly there was only one other Kamiq with that spec. on Autotrader and that was 200 miles away in Devon. We collected the Kamiq last Friday and there are several odd issues: Smell - the interior has a strong odour of white spirit that wasn't there when test driven. Missing floor mat - the driver's floor carpet mat is missing, though the other three are in place. There again I guess it gets the most wear. Missing lever - the driver's seat lumbar adjusting lever isn't there. The stub of the adjuster is there but no lever. The passenger side is OK. Missing tools - there is no spare wheel, but there is the foam tool kit tray which only contains a locking wheel nut and a jack winding handle. No jack, tyre compressor, tyre gunk or anything else. It would be good to know what it should have as standard.
  30. Can you compare them to the bits I used. See the post above which also has the part numbers listed as well. Thanks. AG Falco
