  1. The reliability problems with the 1.4TSI were the earlier twin charger version- the 1.4TSi fitted to the Octavia 3 is the new EA211 engine which does not have those problems. Owners of the later 1.5TSi have complained on here about 'kangarooing' problems that have affected them. I drove a 14.TSi estate for 5 years and was very happy with it's economy and performance, having driven to the south of France it made a good relaxed motorway cruiser.
  2. AutoLock On/Off can be added to the car's menu - it's now possible via 1-click App in Obd-eleven. I would never turn it off, but since you were concerned about it...
  3. Rattle found. Rear door latch faulty and replaced. Nice and quiet now! Thanks for all your help

As stated you probably have the original key on the ring with the new one so the immobiliser transponder is struggling with range since it isn't in the ignition.
  5. A couple of my recent efforts with black and white (mainly Jaguar related😁)
  6. 58 plate is pre-facelift, so different grille to later black ones. There was not a black grille for the pre-facelift cars, so its paint or wrap i'm afraid Stereo yes, just need double din adapter if yours is a single din fitment.
  7. Sheesh, more goth lipstick for the pig...
  8. Also, in terms of charging hubs, look out for Osprey expanding their network using Kempower load balancing chargers and the very latest Tritium load balancing chargers to create more hubs. Instavolt are now getting onto that bandwagen, with a full hub at Banbury about to open. Motor Fuel Group (MFG) are building electric forecourts and hubs, gaining a reputation for reliability into the bargain. They already have several in London, one in Birmingham, Manchester, M6 and 3 in Bristol. Shell have opened an electric forecourt in Putney. Gridserve's second electric forecourt, in Norwich is nearing completion and a third one will be built at Gatwick in 2022. There is lots happening in the charging space right now. I expect to see some winners and losers in the coming year.
  9. I've just noticed what looks like a socket in the charging bay in the photo, so I've checked what the situation is! I guess this is what you were referring to? The EV6 does have a socket inside, under the back seats where your legs dangle. From outside, you use the adaptor in the main port. From the short video I watched: "however for safety reasons, it cannot be used while charging".
  10. Even with a battery of the same type and capacity, you SHOULD change the battery serial number so the BMS knows a new battery is fitted and immediately does a recalibration - if you don't do this the BMS will assume the old battery is still fitted and some power saving measures (turning off some loads because it thinks the battery is weak) can still happen for some time.

Try googling Whitelegg Way, Bournemouth. The road was originally built to supplement/bypass a fairly short narrow twisting road to give a shorter travel time, and partly to allow buses to use the old road. It is a gently curving road through a little green space, and was subject to a 40mph limit. Then the council got money to improve cycling. They built wide cycle paths each side, narrowing the road so much that there is a problem when emergency vehicles need to get through when traffic is heavy. This forces people into the kerbs. But instead of low chamfered kerbs that allow people to get out of the way without damaging their alloy wheels, the kerbs they have used are about 6 inches high on the road and the cycleway side, and instead of minor damage to wheels there is a danger of significant wheel damage, and if a car does mount the kerb and come down with one wheel on the cycleway, there is a good chance of significant damage to the bottom of the car. If this happens, of course, it will not be the council's fault.
  12. Odd thoughts but... Does anyone else think the MG5 looks rather B6 Passat Variant-esque? At least from the front that is.
  13. Today I picked up my car, the sos module has been replaced for free, the strange sound is gone They updated my software to the latest available in PL (u can figure what is what in the attached photo ;))
  14. Thanks guys, I've actually found some on ebay that state they fit my model so will check back if they fit to help others that may be looking.
  15. Stunning looking Jaaaaaaaaag!

Paulski Thanks ever so much for all the video info it was very useful. kudos to you my friend. Bc
  17. Aye it is. Use fishing line behind the badges and a heat gun to get the glue detached IIRC. You'll probably need a fascia adaptor of sorts to fill in gaps etc. Not sure about grille upgrades/replacements mind you. Hope this helps you, however.

Typical of the thoughless decisions made by the planning incompetents that skomaz has been writing about. I was very grateful for dropped kerbs at the right-hand edge of a dual carriageway some years ago. I was overtaking two slow lorries, and alongside the rear one, when without signalling and obviously without checking his mirror, he pulled into the right hand lane. Thanks to dropped kerbs I was able to run onto the grass of the central reservation without damage. It did give me a fright though.
  20. I changed mine over last year and found https://www.energizedcustoms.co.uk/ cheapest around. I notice their prices have gone up a bit but delivery is quick and free. Better than any of the second hand places who wanted close to the price energised charged and £10 for delivery. My reason for changing was that a "kind" person had hit the passenger on and I decided to change both as I'd have paid same to have it done under insurance. I can confirm that the motors are an easy swap . On mine I had to ensure that the ball on the motor engaged with the socket on the headlamp. As per my post a few months ago I've still got a driver side headlamp going free to collect or arrange collection. I changed it to keep the pair matched. It passed MOT u till then with no advisories .
  21. The 12 volt battery was flat this morning, which I discovered when I tried to unlock the car. Skoda Assist (AA) came out. The resting voltage was 4-1, so something had flattened the battery overnight. I can't imagine what it was, unless the heater came on overnight. I checked the 12 volt battery yesterday evening and it was 12.1 volts. The dealer can't lend me a loan car until January 24th, so Skoda Assist will arrange for a hire car tomorrow, to be delivered to the dealer. Normally it's two days only, but if the fault cannot be cleared, then the hire period will be extended. The AA man did some tests - the battery is fine, so for now I have a trickle charger under the bonnet to keep it topped up ready for tomorrow. Under the fuse box cover is the +ve terminal and the -ve terminal is nearby on the bulkhead. I asked whether the car could be relayed to the dealer, but because it can be driven, it's not possible. The 12 volt battery is in the boot next to the 400 volt battery and it was awkward to remove the nuts securing its cover. A tip: don't use the puncture repair gunk as it usually means the tyre fitter won't try to repair it, so always call out Skoda Assist as they carry a 'get you home' spare. Also, practice using the emegency key: it's difficult to get the cover off on the passenger door handle, so have a practice so when it's need you can be in quickly.

Sat nav works just fine after a long drive albeit it's still in yards and not metres which they clearly haven't changed.
  23. And, other than the stickers on the chargers, what do you think will actually change? After all, the present staff will all qualify for TUPE transfers.
  24. Youtube vids & the need for another story. Availability of the battery, waiting lists at those that do the job. Those that do it in the UK have been in his vid and others, some of which have been posted on here. Top vid April 2021. Teamed up with the business in Holland. *See @ 15 minutes, 'His car had already had the battery replaced.* Bottom vid Nov 2020.
  25. I worked out that that was what you were referring to (the apparent external three pin socket) after I'd posted my first comment. I'm sure that what we can see in the photo isn't actually a three pin socket. It seems to be a picture of something. See the attached, taken from https://www.eurekar.co.uk/articles/2021-10-25/kia-on-charge-with-ev6

After a bit of Google, RedEx is made by Holts-Lloyd (aka Holts Auto), and it is probably best known for making "fuel system additives" (aka snake oil).
  27. Those things are not necessary with standard UK plugs as the live and neutral holes are closed until the earth pin is firmly inserted. In fact, by snapping the lower two pins off the plastic protector, you can insert it upside down into the earth hole and open the other two holes to stick your little fingers into... With regards to the EV6, if it is the same as the Ioniq 5, the three pin socket inside the car is also covered by a lockable sliding cover. Whether you can charge from it whilst the car is being charged externally, I don't know. But it would be strange if you couldn't!

Can you please confirm that you have a TDI vRS? (and maybe update your profile...) The TDI vRS has a cambelt but the TSI vRS has a timing chain.
  29. Might be market dependent? My 220 has the 205/55R16 spare. I just looked, no specs marked on the steel wheel like there usually are with alloy wheels though. I'd guess you'd need at least a 17" wheel to clear the 340mm brakes on the 272/280 though.
  30. My car is serviced annually and the dealer changes the key battery each time. tom
  31. Ok, I will drive it in sports mode for a couple of days
  32. You do not need to floor it. Get the car sorted and don't mess about this way.
  33. And of course we came across the obligatory car stuck in the Ford!! The Volvo initially appeared to struggle to move the Mercedes A-Class (much wheel spinning) before one of the bystanders called out 'is the handbrake on?' He's behind you!
  34. 6 second exposure. I spent ages waiting for the right moment and then a duck swam by and ruined the reflection😠
  35. OK. Sorry for the delay on this guys, but it was something so simple and funny at the same time. So. Had the Hunter alignment done, and although not a major adjustment needed, it was out of alignment. Had the wheel swapped back to front. No joy. turned out it was the nsf inner wheel arch liner that had come adrift and was rubbing on the tyre!!!!! lol. A cheap and easy fix. Now we have noise no more.

Those cost estimates are the bane of my life... They are often put together at a very early stage for a Business Case by people with little or no technical design experience or skills and usually make no allowance for 'optimism bias' or 'risk' and with little knowledge of underground conditions or services. Schemes then get the go ahead on the basis of those costs and grants are made accordingly but I've seen costs double and treble in the past once done properly, or schemes grossly cut back, downgraded or even canned completely as a result. Or even worse funds being taken from elsewhere to complete them...
  37. I upgraded with a 64Gb USB stick. I have a iMac so I had to remove the extraneous files that the Mac OS puts on the USB or SD before uploading into the car.

quick search on the forum pulls this out: don't think chain will need doing for a while yet.... "The 1.0, 1.4 and 1.5 TSi engines ALL have a timing belt which Skoda UK recommend should be changed at 5 years. The 2.0 TSi engine has a timing chain" . Probably worth discussing this with a good independent to see if there are any reasons to check it at any interval

indeed, even with all the posts on this subject and the guides other have written for us (thanks to those for the contributions) something can always trip it up!
  41. It's a cable and not a linkage, I know that now but did not before this afternoon, its all quite well protected and dead clean up there, you dont need to remove the doorpanel, clip out the tweeter and then one screw to remove the inner handle, the cable disconnects easily.
  42. Well, in short as I'm more than qualified for the job and I do this sort of thing almost daily I might as well just do it myself. If I do the job myself I know its done right and the car has been treated with respect. I work in the industry and every day I see jobs half done and a total disregard for customers cars. It's actually quite shocking sometimes what goes on TBH.

  44. If anyone is being put off the idea of using this service due to the 'downtime' or inconvenience of having to visit the car twice, once to remove the module, once a few days later to refit the repaired original, I may be able to offer a slightly different arrangement. An exchange system where part of the price is refundable on receipt of your original. You let me know you need a replacement/repair job, either by posting in this thread or private message. Include full car details (year/model/number of electric windows) please. If I have a repaired and fully functional unit suitable for your car, I'll let you know. The initial price will be higher than for a repair, but there will be a proportion of the price that will be refundable once I receive your original, non-working motor module in return. It will have to be that exact module (the original your car was built with), so I know which car it suits. You would pay up front, receive a working motor module in the post from me a couple of days later, swap that into your car and send me the original in the post. This way you can get in behind the door-card just the once, to remove original and fit replacement. £119 for this variant, with £60 of that as a refund to be returned to you once I have your original in hand. So final cost to you will be £59 plus your postage cost for the return. I think the added convenience of this for you, my customer, may be attractive? If I have your unit type available, it'll be already packaged ready to post, so I should be able to post it out the day you message me if it's before about 4pm and we can sort payment out promptly (mouse over my username on the left to get a pop-up including 'Message' option) .
  45. @Nivek74; why not send me the (Polo) module referred to here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/499167-electric-window-problem/ and I'll check it over for you to see if it has the problem I expect. If it has I'll extend my 20% off offer mentioned above to you. If not I'll return it FOC. Do check that fuse though.
