Hello guys and girls 😁 After quite a while i am back on forum with some good news... I am picking my Octavia in approx. 2 hours 🙃 More about it later, when i catch some time to write it down 😁

Hi everyone! Those pictures i shared with you in last weeks with a full parking lots with incompleted Octavias....Just have a info for you, that basically all of that places in CZ are empty to this date. Thats super positive fot all of us
  3. Anything that uses part number 6Q0501117, which is same for all Mk1 Fabia, all 9N/9N3 Polo and a host of others. See the 61 page compatibility listing here for example: Febi Rear Wheel Stub Axle Suspension Transmission Genuine OE Quality Replacement | eBay
  4. Solar Canopies, a wind turbine, battery storage and an automated toilet 24/7 at charging hubs should be part of what is required by the UK Government & Local Authority planners. Good Mobile phone reception would be a bonus at many Hubs in Scotland. I really think there is a bit of an energy crisis coming this winter in the UK and the Government have no planning in place.
  5. @Gmac983 I have hit unexpected patch of standing water, despite driving to the conditions as @Breezy_Pete said. Entry onto a dual carriageway via slip road in the dark whilst raining, a blocked drain had covered the road from one side to the other (slip) and when I clocked the let's say lake, I let off the power, and didn't brake, just let the car go straight. Then again I did lots of miles and had experience, most people I used to say "put their brain in a pickle jar in the glovebox, as they won't be needing it" Generally most people cannot drive for toffee, and would fall to pieces when the white stuff hits, or the rain comes down. Edit: for clarity Pete's right about driving being a forgotten art.
  6. The trouble is people who have no problems don’t tend to search the internet for forums to comment! I hope those with problems are a real minority
  7. Incorrect, they get full of soot all the time. Every single time you drive it, but the system will burn off the soot one of two ways. Passive: So as you drive down the road, the heat from engine will burn off the soot. Active: When you are not driving it hard enough, and the soot hits a level that needs attention (22g I think) then it will start to inject extra fuel post combustion to flamethrower the DPF to get it "cooking" to burn off the soot. Usually you will have higher tick over of about 1,000rpm and cooling fans will be on, and when you end your journey they will still be spinning after you get out. The oil ash is what is left over after burning of soot, this cannot be passed through the small holes in the DPF and after a fair few miles it will need cleaning/replacement. VW documents state to check at 120k, and every 10k there after. Typical life is 200k with maybe 240k at a stretch (everyone's mileage will vary)
  8. Probably doable for less than that, but not worth it. There simply aren't any significant benefits. I wouldn't want it if someone were to do it for nothing.
  9. Upgrade your membership and advertise on here and support the forum?
  10. Change your garage then. Yes, you'd have to change the tyre pressure(s) and reset the TPMS, but that's all.

Hi First time posting on any forms but I have already found loads of useful information here I thought I would give it a go! Background is 35yrs in the body repair and paint and have probably striped down and repaired/painted most Skoda's. So hopefully I might just be able to help someone. First time VRS octavia owner and happy😁
  12. Maybe this thread could just take a holiday like the Government & PM has until something new comes up like a press release from Renault UK.
  13. 😛 I did say local cars, but to be honest even if it was piped out to local homes/businesses as part of the gas mix (up to 20% works fine in current gas boilers) then it is good. I really do want to see some data for what 10000 rotations at given speed at a wind turbine generates in terms of hydrogen produced right there vs electricity available once it's passed through the grid. I'm just not so sure it's as big a difference as people say. More so when you consider the weight pulled around by cars that are not using it (100kWh batteries to get 400 miles for example). I'm all for that Well the pre-mememeiwanttobePM tory party competition, it had been floated that those near to energy generation should benifit from lower rates. The SW has wind, nuclear (well did and will again soon-ish) and yet also has some of the highest prices. I notice London has few power stations, wind turbines etc and there is far more demand than can be easily supplied. I suggest to double the prices of electric and gas in London and benefit those in the regions.
  14. I know the rear beam is the same for drum and disc brakes on the MK1 Fabia. The drum brake models have the unused holes for rear calipers.
  15. This guy is the best! I saw so many threads about this, people guessing many sizes and combinations, and MartiniB got perfect fit. Pin/highlight his comments, they are gem 💎 Thank you!
  16. This is kind of why you need fuel cells or similar. People are obsessed as a fill up is potentially long and potentially you end up queuing for a while too. Then you have the do they work, is there infrastructure, that 300+ mile range is really only 175-200 in winter on the motorway. Due to that range is super important as people are nervous and don't want to get stranded. Fuel cells work great, but supply is terrible. If they got even 25-50% of petrol stations to have a hydrogen pump, then that's a fantastic supply network. If that happens you sell an EV with a 30-50kW battery and you have the option of a fuel cell range extender. Suddenly it's cheap to buy, perfect for town and if you want the safety of long range then you tick a £2000-3000 option box, which is way cheaper than a huge battery. One design, one battery so cheaper to build. Sure hydrogen might start blue, but with the cost of oil it will move to green pretty quick, especially with the correct taxation of blue vs green. Baby steps in the right direction is better than no action. People are not obsessed as such, they're worried. I admit I've been wanting a hydrogen Fuel Cell car for years, but then it's due to the fact I don't want to tow half a tonne of batteries when I don't need them. In fact if they can design a car where the range extender can be added/removed as needed as a module, I can think of a very profitable holiday business Public transport barely exists here and so that's why range matters. Visiting the family would require a top up somewhere even in a 300 mile (WLTP) range car.
  17. I agree it would be a PITA, but if you can cut £1000 off a car it will help with those who just want a second car for around town. A more sensible model naming strategy like City 22AC and Tour or Long Range 50CCS model might help. Of course if you split into a city car, then you really might as well shring the battery to 150 miles range and save weight and more cost....
  18. That’s it in a nutshell. Too many fall into the “steering-wheel-holder” category. Though perhaps a tyre with 3 or 4 mil of tread on would make an non-recoverable incident (on bare minimum tyres) a recoverable one. We can all make a misjudgement of conditions once in a while regardless of talent or otherwise.
  19. Gave that one a miss and went for this one instead which I pick up on Saturday. 2016 (16 reg) 1.8 TSI Laurin & Klement DSG 5dr
  20. Baaa, Tesla responded, only offering £3760. That's waaaay off compared to website sellers. I suppose good thing with WBAC is that you can refuse to sell if they change their office price too much, because it's at a drop off location. Right, once I phone them to make sure it is delivery appointment is 100% confirmed and I'll get a car on that day, I shall start putting up adverts.
  21. One other thing that you could scatter your car cash on, as you live up in Scotland, is a set of winter wheels and tyres, so that your nice Monte alloys retain some of their initial beauty, and fit either all season or dedicated winter tyres - but that might only work if you live in a "nasty winters" areas are commute through one. Doing that has always worked for me and my wife while we were still of working age, less so now as both car's tyres will get binned as they are now too old and not due to normal wear!! Quality winter tyres can last 25>30K miles if only used for 6 months/6K miles a year.
  22. OK. ? Have you agreed to pay extra for a 3 year Serving deal and a longer Warranty? Get that Servicing for 3 years set out writing. What are they doing, Oil & Filter, pollen filter at 2 years, brake fluid at 2 years, etc. Doubt it! I bought a used car from AC Ayr with 2 years servicing and 2 MOTS. A gesture included in the purchase price at no extra cost as i was walking out the door and not 'signing on the day'. Ye right! 1 Year later and after 3,000 miles they failed it at the MOT on the broken spring and brakes that it had failed on before i bought it and that they then passed. The Service was an Oil & Filter service and they wanted me to pay for the Brake Fluid change that was not done when they had fitted the new brakes that was part of getting the MOT pass. *It never went in at year 2 and they got no money when i collected the car at the 1st service for the spring or discs for them trying it on as they were cheeky barstewards who had the spring and discs in the Recycle skip within 15 mins of phoning me to tell me the car i had dropped off had failed on the spring and brakes.* So the Service & MOT Vouchers T&C's needs reading. It is nice they give you it free, except it is not Free it is on the cars paperwork as part of their costs. Actually reducing the cars price would be a better deal than this kidology.
  23. Pretty sunset the other night.........
  24. Welcome to the forum. Where ever you are in Scotland you will be adjusting it even if you have climate control. You will be increasing the fan speed to demist the screen. You will be needing AC on almost always to save from misting up and come winter if the AC is off because too cold outside you will be playing about clearing ice that has formed inside. The Systems fitted in a Skoda Fabia 2022 is no better than it was in 2017 or even 2008. KISS is just fine.
  25. Into my eighth month of ownership now with one minor software glitch that I fixed myself. I did ask for a dealer appointment and one was offered with a three day wait. No complaints here at all and love my car.... just kick myself every morning for not getting alcantara seats ... tho maybe I’d still been waiting for that option. I did get pano and Canton, both of which remain epic and make me smile every day
  26. I’m halfway through a retro fit too (will finish that one day…). It’s a mk2 2011 - think the facelift differs slightly to the OG mk2. it took a lot of brute force. Remove the two small blanker panel bits on the wide section of lower grill first (these just pull out, left one took some oomph on mine), then stick your arm in, and feel for a plastic tab behind the fog light blanker. once you sacrifice some knuckles and a chunk of flesh from your lower arm, the blankets should release relatively easily.

I would absolutely disagree with you on these cars not being made to last. These cars are built very well, they aren't overcomplicated. Any parts that wear out are easy to change and cheap. If that's the standard clutch at 147k then that's impressive. A clutch is a wear item and a lot of cars can wear them out around 60k miles. I know Hyundai coupes are notorious for wearing clutches out quickly, speaking from experience there.
  28. Once you have your car's build codes, you can use the Skoda parts catalogue to find the parts that your car left the factory with. Here's an example of build codes. The below car has 180 build codes. They have been sorted into alphanumerical order, so that you can sort through them quickly. There are also other useful codes, such as engine code and paint code, etc. Another useful piece of information is the date of manufacture. You can copy and paste the below codes into the "VW Codes Decoder", which should give you an idea of what each code is for. For example, some codes will be for the springs, shock absorbers, brakes, etc. VW Codes Decoder The "VW Codes Decoder" is for decoding the build codes. Simply copy and paste all your build codes into this decoder. http://igorweb.org/equidec.aspx Skoda parts catalogue Search "Skoda LLLParts" when looking for this website https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ Example of build codes (sorted in alphanumerical order for ease of reference) 0A1 0AQ 0CL 0EM 0F3 0FB 0G4 0GE 0KA 0N2 0P0 0RA 0SC 0TA 0VF 0Y1 0YA 1AN 1C1 1D0 1E0 1EX 1G2 1JL 1KB 1L0 1LR 1N2 1NC 1PA 1Q0 1S7 1SA 1T0 1Z2 2B0 2C5 2D0 2G5 2JF 2LB 2P1 2PQ 2V1 2VG 2W0 2WA 3B0 3C1 3CA 3FA 3H3 3J7 3L0 3LC 3NB 3P6 3Q1 3U1 3ZB 4A0 4B1 4E5 4F1 4GF 4KC 4L2 4M5 4N2 4P2 4QV 4R0 4SC 4TC 4U0 4UE 4X1 4XC 4Z1 5A6 5C6 5D0 5K0 5N2 5RV 5SJ 5TC 6A0 6EA 6FA 6J1 6KA 6NA 6P1 6PA 6Q1 6QA 6R1 6SC 6U0 6W1 6XD 6Y0 7A0 7AA 7B0 7E6 7PA 7Q0 7QA 7R3 7V2 8AC 8BF 8CC 8GD 8K0 8L3 8M1 8N4 8P1 8Q1 8QC 8R1 8RE 8SG 8T0 8TD 8W0 8WA 8X0 8Y4 9AA 9E0 9FA 9GA 9JD 9P0 9PE 9Q0 9T0 9TC 9U1 9W0 A8C AC1 AZ0 B09 B0N C04 C0D E0A F0A G0C G10 GA0 H8P J0L K8G KG2 L05 L0R ME0 N4C NM1 PF0 PZ1 Q1A QA0 QG1 QJ0 QM1 QN0 QS0 RBA S0J T9V U0L V0A VK0
  29. You need a mix, but I really can not understand why there are not tax incentives such that a petrol station pays X % business rates tax, but if said petrol station sells hydrogen (and the pump is working) then they pay X-Y% tax. Watch the petrol stations fall over themselves to reduce their business taxes by getting a single pump installed. In London they are getting all the EV chargers, but they have the tube, buses and all sorts of public transport. They just got crossrail 1 and are getting 2, which apparantly benifit the whole country, clearly unlike running HS2 from Manchester and Leeds to Brum first and linking Manchester to Leeds via other major towns on a decent service. Perhaps it's time some of the political types looked to the regions and got their heads out of London London London.

This one million percent, it helps anyone else that gets the same fault to solve theirs. And everything else you basically said.
  31. Same argument can be made if EV's are always be charging and put on intelligent tariff like Octopus Intelligent. You plug it in every night, the grid smartly charges your car cheaply according to excess rewnewables. No wasted renewables, 80% generation to wheel efficiency. That's why I'm getting a Tesla. 6+ at each location, in-car nav will auto navigate to less busy locations. https://www.speakev.com/threads/why-is-tesla-seen-as-the-stand-out-charge-provider-when-others-have-similar-numbers-if-chargers.171239/
  32. A local city car with smaller battery makes a LOT of sense, in fact, we own one Problem is, people seems to be obsessed with EV's range even though people rarely need to exercise this.
  33. Had this issue with my MK2 as others said remove the end parts of the lower grill as you can then get into the fog light blank area. I sprayed area with WD40 but they would not realease, after much pushing and choice words th only way I could remove them was to drill a small hole in the solid part of the plastic blank near the middle of the blank screw in a long thin wood screw a few turns and the used a mole grips on the screw and gave a good yank out, to my suprise they came out quite easy this way as it seems theres no clips or anything holding them in place, found a deal on EBay seller had new old stock and paid £96 for a set of fog lights with a new switch and screws etc to fit the lamps wiring for the lamps was included but not right to the switch whic I completed myself, I did add a relay just to make sure that it was safe to use
  34. They are not summer tyres, they are simply tyres (without a prefix) capable of all year round use (driving with respect to the weather and road conditions) as have been fitted to vehicles since the pneumatic tyre was invented. There were always specialist snow tyres & off road M&S (mud & snow) tyres, then a company decided to market their new M&S tyres as "Winter Tyres" and since then Internet evangelists have been telling people living in warm Souther towns & Cities like London that unless they swap between summer & winter tyres or fit 4 season tyres then they are dangerous. My answer to the thread title question is 1.6mm, my aim is to change all 4 tyres together, if I can do that when all 4 are at 1.6mm and evenly worn across the whole thread width then I have done my job well, anything less is wastage of a precious commodity.
  35. No probs if you want. I am sitting charging car and going that way anyway. Just ask if you want. Just looked at advert on phone. I know them there.
  36. I did find one up in Kirriemuir I liked but they never responded so they never got the business
  37. If you have taken finance then I would say stop now to them. Take off all the extras that you are not wanting to pay interest on. Including the VED if that was extra. Then get the price of just the car. Car through the paint and prep and not all the crap. AC are terrible for wheel refurbs then odd crap tyres fitted. PS. VED can just be paid monthly to the DVLA.
  38. Turns out there is some service history with it now, detailing oil changes from main dealers etc. So its back on the cards, going to see it tonight but got my hopes up somewhat higher after finding the history out on it. Thanks for your info too!
  39. @rum4mo Anything "greyed out" just means that it wasn't fitted to the car from factory. It can mean it was never meant to fit, but odds are the person didn't want the hassle of selling something that might not fit. TPS are you best bet, as they use the software all day long, and if lucky with who you encounter, they will more than happily sell you what was needed.
  40. I had Skoda ones fitted on delivery of my new Octy in late 2021. I was really pleased with their minimalist and sporty design which ties in perfectly with my vRS’s styling. They’ve worked perfectly throughout 2022. Recommended
  41. This question or project has been asked many times in the past, on the surface it looks easy and cheap to do, but don't be fooled, this would be possible, but at a high price.
  42. If new owners are having less trouble that’s all well and good. For those that bought 20 & 21 reg cars that can’t get them sorted with well documented issues it doesn’t say much for Skoda re customer service. Get your cash then **** you off.

Hello Seth Beautiful scenery! 😎 Gaz
  44. Instead of 1K0511115CT rear springs, you might want to take a look at 1T0511115AB and 1TO511115AC as shown in the chart below. As you can see, 1K0511115CT is listed as weight range 0YH, 1T0511115AB is listed as a weight range 0YJ, and 1T0511115AC is listed as a weight range 0YK. These lists of springs that are ordered by weight range aren't always logical. So it could be that 1T0511115AB and 1T0511115AC are heavier duty than 1K0511115CT, but they might not be. Can you find out the specification of 1T0511115AB and 1T0511115AC, such as wire diameter, number of coil turns, uncompressed length, weight, etc.? It's possible that they won't be available to order even through a Skoda dealer. 1T0511115AB and 1T0511115AC isn't available aftermarket, and hence I can find no specifications for them. 45. ^^^ garage must be clueless to make a statement like that or are just plain lazy! Would suggest you go else where.
  46. Thanks for your reply, Yes that's warning I would have expected, but has never appeared...
  47. Can I check you're not mixing up the following three numbers? 62 kWh - battery capacity 50 kW - maximum battery charging rate 132 kW - engine power
