  1. I used to own the Superb Hatchback KYXX XXB which had been faultless for my 4 years of ownership. Unfortunately on 10th April I was involved in a small accident which resulted in the offside front bumper, headlight and corner bonnet being damaged. The rest of the car was in excellent condition with 37.000 miles on the clock. I was amazed when the insurance company deemed it uneconomical to repair and offered me a payment which I accepted. I now see that the car is back on the road. So if you are the new owner of the car and would like all its full service and maintenance records from new message me and I will forward on. I will keep the offer open for another 4 weeks before I dispose of them if I have had no contact
  2. Compression test was good! 13bar in all 4 cylinders. Have put 4 new spark plugs on and just driven to the shops and back with no issues! So it looks like my bro was wrong and it doesn't need a new engine. Perhaps I was lucky and have got away with just a bit of surface damage. Cheers for the help
  3. You have a dying ABS sensor at the back. Maybe two. Scanning with a decent tool will help identify which one.
  4. I guess you meant 2% petrol?
  5. yes 1.4 TSI with 8 speed. Not so easy to weigh as I dont have a car with a tow bar atm...chicken and egg LOL.
  6. Yeah, different times though. I've got a Cordoba with the old VE engine in that I will literally pour any old **** in. Modern diesels are a different game.
  7. It’ll be fine for an old diesel from say the early 90s or an old generator, but probably not worth it in a car unless you’re willing to pick up the bill for a new DPF.
  8. Set of four alloys from a 2013 Skoda Superb Elegance. Part number 3T0601025E Style name Themisto Size 7.5J x 18 Offset ET46 PCD 5x112 Also the spare wheel with retaining nut and polystyrene insert. We bought the car as an ex-demo so it has always been always owned by us. In around 2015 we replaced the wheels and tyres with 16 inch steels as we wanted a softer ride. These wheels have been stored in an ISO container ever since. The car has now been written off so these are of no use to us. The tyres have reasonable tread and appear okay but because of their age (2015) it might be safest to assume they are beyond their serviceable life. There appear to be some minor scuff marks, but please judge the condition for yourself from the photos. We are in North Wales and I don’t want to courier these etc so be prepared to come and get them. £200
  9. I just posted in Mario's post - I would not put those SuperPro LCAs on my Superb
  10. Tis wat I've been saying for a while now - they're too short (width-wise) for the Superb. The camber will b wrong. Delphi TC4442 and TC4443 r a good option suitable for the mk3 Superb. These Audi-spec alloy LCAs r the same width as the Passat/Superb arms, and a Passat owner in Europe recently installed them. Based on the discussions on the golfmk7 forums, these r bigger than all of the alloy Golf Mk7 sized arms available on the market, which is why the Golf guys were looking at using these wider arms to increase wheel track and camber on their track/fast street cars. I'll b changing my LCA to these once the time comes for Gandalf.
  11. Yeah that's them...they are mainly for golf. I had them on car for 2.5 years, no issues until now. Just last week i started finding things that failed prematurely because of these arms. They are inch shorter on each side compared to Superb ones. My whiteline droplinks -split, ball joints -split. Got genuine ones fitted today and tomorrow it's going for wheel alignment, next week new droplinks getting fitted (Whiteline) again. I believe you can get Audi TTS bottom arms which are aluminium but I'm done with d*cking around. You can fit them and they work but they will make everything else wear lit quicker. They will also reduce your track width by an inch on each side
  12. Well, we have had an opportunity to do our own personal PDI on Rosie 2. And I am pleased to say that everything looks to be excellent. We had a thoroughly pleasant time at the dealership and collection is scheduled for Monday, 14 September. We are really looking forward to it. I don't want to speak too soon but, so far, I cannot fault the dealership. They have kept in touch, been professional yet personal too, and seem to have done an excellent job preparing our new car. They have treated the paintwork with the Autoglym Cerafuse protection, plus the cabin as a no cost gesture of goodwill - which is more than I expected. Preparation is key to this finish working properly and, insofar as I could tell, the paintwork was smooth to the touch of my fingers. Honestly, fingers and the sense of touch are more telling than eyes. Anyway, so far so good. My insurance with Allianz is just £247 compared to £450 for the Velar. The dealer has ordered the reversible folding boot floor, some door bins and snow chains. They have popped a second umbrella in the passenger door at no cost and they have done an excellent job fitting the Nextbase 522GW camera and rear camera. The cables are out of sight and all the roof lining is perfect, as is the A-pillar. I will need to order my winter 17" rims from Skoda Parts online because the UK importer has stopped selling them. Same for the ski sack. I have a contact there and will speak to him next week because they are EU based. They are UK VAT registered and use FedEx for delivery but they need to take the VAT at the UK rate which means a telephone call because the online portal is set up for a different foreign VAT rate. This also means that they should clear customs properly with no further duty needing to be paid. Ah, Brexit. Here are some pics. I will provide an update next week after collection. Honestly, if only I had received this service with the Range Rover dealership. I spent considerably more, even back in 2017, and subsequently.....and yet a little Skoda dealership beats them hands down! Here's hoping.
  13. Have you checked the power steering fluid level?
  14. Could be engine is burning oil and its gearbox oil as warrior said. The only other thing (long shot I know) would be brake/clutch fluid. Maybe pop it into a friendly garage and get them to put it on their lift to see if they can track down where its coming from. Oil has a habit of appearing a good bit away from where it started.
  15. Fairly straight forward as long as there not rusted in. On the octavia theres one allen key/torx screw(cant remember off hand) that holds them in place (make sure you clean it out so you get a good depth of grip) from memory you can just get to them behind splash guard. Soak them for a few days in penetrating oil and gently wiggle them while pulling upwards. Check condition of wiring etc before hand just in case its wiring/connector related. Alasdair
  16. Check timing cover and also PCV. Cant think of anything else if the engine block has no signs of leaks. Have a look at the oil pressure switch in case its leaking and oil is traveling down wiring and missing engine block Alasdair
  17. I'll have a look at my car this evening, to see if I can make some suggestions.
  18. New Dacia Spring, sister product of the new Renault Twingo etech, will go on sale in Spring 2027 reportedly. Same small 27 KWh LFP battery and therefore 150 summer range and 120ish winter range so very much inter town or county rather than cross country. Price should be sub £15k. Bigger than the 45,65, 100 old model Spring and 80 hp. Apparently the 100 hp, sub 1 tonne Spring was as expensive as a Gilf GTI to insure ! 12 seconds to 60 in the new Spring. Torque presumably lowish line the power. Weight now over 1.2T but it does look much more sturdy.
  19. yes, its roughly 2% diesel. AI agrees with you - harmless. The main worry is lubrication of the pump but at 2% not an issue. No or a beneficial effect on DPF - apparently.
  20. Could be a voltage drop. Whats the condition of battery and also is alternator charging ok. On the other hand my octavia had random warning lights appear some bright and others dim. Cluster needed connector cleaned and reseated. Were there actual fault codes stored to match warnings? Alasdair
  21. If all the wheel bearings are smooth and no play (as said they can still make noise but feel ok) It might be the centre bearing in rear propshaft thats failing or propshaft coupling. Had one go on an old volvo 940 and made a droning sound varying with speed. Alasdair
  22. I'd suggest getting a fixed type tow-ball, as the removeable type will almost certainly will not be able to allow any height adjustment. I've seen simple 'drop plates' that just bolt between tow-ball and bar that allow for height adjustment.
  23. At a guess you have a 5 to 6 metre boat on a single-axle trailer? - your Octavia wagon will have no issues towing it apart from keeping a eye on transmission temperatures if you are doing long mountain climbs. Front-wheel drive can sometimes be an issue on steep launch ramps and it's a good idea to not get the rear of the vehicle anywhere near salt water! - I used to use a towbar extension pole to launch and recover my cruiser.
  24. That's the same update @MartiniB posted in July, thanks for the repost, can't wait for the next one.
  25. I hope those r not the Golf compatible SuperPro LCAs.....cause they'll b short, width-wise, by a 14.5mm, on the Superb. Which will affect the camber of ur front wheels. Good luck with the install for all the stuff.
  26. I wouldn't chance it in a modern diesel that I cared about. Older diesels were normally ok with up to 25% petrol.
  27. The Fabia MK3's spare wheel (185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38) has an outside diameter 3.0% smaller than the Fabia MK4's spare wheel (185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40). Additionally, the Fabia MK3's spare wheel (185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38) has an inflated width that is about 6mm wider than the Fabia MK4's spare wheel (185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40). The offset is also 2mm different, ie. ET38 vs ET40. That additional 6mm in inflated width, might result in the carpet being lifted...but you would have to check if you just happened to have an old Fabia MK3 spare wheel lying around. The 2mm reduction in offset might also add to the carpet lifting problem that can occur when the wrong spare wheel is used in the spare wheel well.
  28. On one Skoda headunit I had it was a four digit code stuck to the back of the HU on an old style price label.
  29. I've used these for radio codes a few times. They charge about £15-20, but are spot on to deal with https://www.onlineradiocodes.co.uk/ The rear wipers have a weird attachment, they seem to be expensive anywhere online, our local parts factor (Parkers - https://thepartspeople.co.uk/#Branches), had them on the shelf and were no more expensive than any other wiper blade.
  30. Ones on my old Skoda octavia were pretty good they looked like a spline fitting but the one that snapped was on a SEAT which had more of a pattern that locked in place which as I found not nearly as strong. Alasdair
  31. The only person a locking wheel nut/bolt stops, is you. I had a rounded key on my first car, and sorted the issue with a blank socket and a mallet. I've kept the lockers on all cars since, as the wheels don't come off very regularly, but different designs have varying levels of usability. Usually, the BMW/VAG ones are pretty good - but the two-piece design, like on Ford, are horrendous.
