  1. Something like 88 .. 90 C, depending on the car. It should reach this after about 5 minutes, and then stay put unless it's getting very hot, and the fans cut in "high".
  2. Normally no need to code the ICE manually, but you do need a stealership to get the code if you do need it.
  3. Good! I'm now as sure as I can be with a car that I can't inspect that the issue is a CV joint.
  4. And to have a dual plane crankshaft.
  5. Before you do, can you feel wear in the outer rod end, lower ball joint or wheel bearing. As @nige8021 says, jack the car up and see if you can feel play in the wheel.
  6. As I already implied the difference is that absolute pressure is 1 bar (say 15 PSI) higher than relative pressure. If (4) can operate at 30 PSI absolute, then it can operate at the 15 PSI relative that definitely doesn't force air into the ABS valve block.
  7. @MrZakalwe Ok, I got an answer to (4) on Amazon that reads I'm not certain the respondent knows the difference between relative and absolute pressure, and in particular that 30 PSI absolute is the 15 relative that we were looking for. I think he's not impressed by the device's build standard though.
  8. As part of a fluid change? If so, then the VCDS bleed is the only way to guarantee you change the fluid in the ABS valve block.
  9. Not sure; I've asked whether that is relative or absolute pressure on Amazon.
  10. VCDS and VAGCom are 2 different names for the same software tool. VCDS is more recent. 1 bar is 15 PSI so you can definitely eliminate (2) from your shopping list.
  11. Yeah; my point was that if you get a bad one you get a really bad one, and there's no way to tell until it starts going wrong.
  12. I'd start with a linkage alignment (procedure already posted, probably more than once) and a light grease on the pivots.
  13. That could be a crack then; mine was moulded in top and bottom halves, with no need for a vertical moulding split.
  14. No, not even slightly, and I rarely even venture into the East End, never mind Embra! I treat an "advisory speed limit" as one to follow if children are playing in the street and/or travelling to/from school, but you can ignore it when the street is quiet.
  15. I'm not sure what, other than correcting the typo, needed expanded on! If you touch something hot, you can burn your fingers. I have actually done so!
  16. Could you describe the tank itself? Mine is spherical, with the joint line at the midsection diameter. There is no mould line from bottom to top.
  17. Well, there's one just across the road from me. And another three streets up on this side. They do exist.
  18. Exactly my point; We all seem to think that the Main Stealer was talking nonsense on that point, and are therefore reluctant to believe anything else they say.
  19. Perhaps you can tell us what "glazed discs" actually means then, and why they require replacement?
  20. Can they explain the phenomenon of "disc glazing"? I certainly can't and I am aware of pad glazing.
  21. Are these red mandatory signs or green advisories?
  22. Well, Skoda Main Stealers are rather inclined to just load the parts cannon rather than try to diagnose the actual fault. It keeping happening just means that they've not done the actual fix yet I'm afraid (hence the suggestion of an independent VAG specialist). As an example, I phoned A for Audi to ask for a quote for a replacement cambelt for my Skoda and got the reply "That's £X, including a new water pump and retiming the fuel pump." A main stealer would not change the water pump unless explicitly asked but it's a good precautionary change when the belt's out anyway.
  23. Best suggestions would be A for Audi in Clydebank or Bedrock VW in Motherwell. Or @AnnoyingPentium lives near Ayr and may know somewhere down his way.
  24. I'd agree with Brembo's advice for already painted calipers (eg Brembo, Porsche carbon discs or carbon ceramic): Otherwise use VHT (I've burnt fingers on hot discs and caliers before).
  25. That does seem low; with a petrol I'd expect more like 1_000 dropping to 800 on a cold start. And as @Pete_Ex-Wino says, check all the warning lights first appear on switch on, and then extinguish within about 5s of the engine firing.
