  1. Won't allowing her to truant 12 months of the year do that?
  2. Sachs only have a history of 126 years making automotive parts; what could they possibly know?
  3. Square wheels - Well, according to team notes by Alfred Neubauer, Mercedes-Benz tried them on the W25 GP car, but Rudi Uhlenhaut and Otto Caracciola both complained about the level of vibration!!
  4. True as far as it goes. However the predicted range mode varies with driving style and terrain as well as fuel tank contents. I have driven 26.5 miles (source Bing) and my available range has risen by 20 miles at trip end (source Skoda). The terrain was the variable.
  5. There are a perfectly good good cassette player and CD stacker in an Octy!
  6. ... also @Tookie and that it is the correct way round. It's really hard to do, but I've seen a 4/21 bulb fitted backwards!
  7. Well, the "100 hours" (actually 99:59) has been the same since the Octavia 1.
  8. Try giving the instrument fascia a tap. Fuel level sensor is stuck right down, or has a bad rheostat track.
  9. Given time, I'll use my hazard lights whilst I'm braking, but when I'm stopped and someone else is stopped behind me I see no reason to leave them on in a healthy car!
  10. If you're prepared to pay premium prices, Michelin or Goodyear. If you'll go down to mid-price, Toyo Proxes T1-R.
  11. If someone has stopped behind you it's a pretty fair bet that they have realised that you are not moving even if you're not dazzling them.
  12. Or you could try doing some research and see if there are technical differences between discs supplied in Audi boxes and ones supplied in Skoda boxes (I have, but I'm not going to say what, because it will be interesting to see whether or not you actually know or can tell).
  13. Likely new wiper blades, and at worst they'll do no harm and be way cheaper than a new windscreen.
  14. Seems like a good guess, but the remap is doing more for you than the reduc induction kit.
  15. Even assuming the work is needed, I was quoted more like £300 by an independent, who actually used Audi parts. Now guess why we call them "main stealers"!
  16. Well, my experience of that nut on my cars has been "a big fornicate-off head" and the best tool for the job (taking into account the torque) is a 12" crescent spanner. Loosen the nut 1 to 2 turns, then bang alternate sides of the steering wheel towards you to break the grip of the taper splines between the wheel and column, and finally remove the nut and wheel. What I thought you were asking about was the bolts (well technically set screws) for the airbag cover, which could be torx 6, torx 12 or double square heads.
  17. I think this is correct yes, in that a physically shorter stroke will result in a constraint of the length of the droop travel from the rest position.
  18. You did not misunderstand me, and I think you did not misunderstand @lol-lol either!
  19. You can prove that, not only did Zoe charge from renewables, but that said use of them did not result in someone else using fossils to heat and/or light their home, or cook, or make something?
  20. That would work. Unless the mechanic is certain it's the clutch (to the extent of doing the other work for free if he does it first at cost and is wrong) I'd suggest:- Bleed clutch (doesn't apply to cable clutch obs) Linkage alignment Gearbox oil change (use correct VAG spec oil, but not Sylkolene; that really is good stuff but doesn't work in VAG boxes for some reason, which isn't clear to anyone)
  21. High oil consumption, accompanied by a James Bond style smoke screen!
  22. Comment on the English Broadcasting Corporation again!!
  23. Also @stephenmcateer Good thought. Also, it's not impossible that some misinformed soul has used a Sylkolene oil. Whilst generally excellent, they don't work in VAG gearboxes for some reason.
  24. How did a 3 place grid penalty become starting in 20th place?
  25. Before anyone even attempts to answer this, I think we want to know what you mean by a "spline bolt". Off hand, I can think of at least 4 different meanings!
