  1. You need to tell us which engine it is.
  2. It's not an issue on the 8 valve mpi. You're thinking of the 16 valve engine.
  3. Probably something like this.... https://www.wish.com/c/58a520d88557757e72bc9678?hide_login_modal=true&from_ad=goog_shopping&_display_country_code=GB&_force_currency_code=GBP&pid=googleadwords_int&c={campaignId}&ad_cid=58a520d88557757e72bc9678&ad_cc=GB&ad_curr=GBP&ad_price=16.00
  4. You probably can't be bothered with the gearbox oil given your other problems, but I'll post the info anyway. The gearbox oil filler plug is 17mm hex and is just above the reversing light switch on the front of the gearbox. Oil level should be up to the filler hole. Very early cars also have a drain plug but no drain plug on later cars. Filler plug location....
  5. It's very odd for that to suddenly get worse as they normally go on for years like that. Has it ever had the gearbox oil level checked? The oil problem can only have two possibilities - either it's burning it or it's leaking. For the oil to drop as much as you say, I would have thought it would be smoking. Puzzled that there is no smoke and no sign of leaking, but it has to be going somewhere.
  6. Buy a faster car. The 1.4 MPI, 8 valve is dog slow and there's not much you can do about it. The engine harks back to the 1960s and was used in the rear-engined Skodas. It's the only true Skoda engine that was used in the Fabia. Momentum and a following wind is your friend On the upside, it's a pretty durable engine. Timing chain rattle is the main bugbear with them as they have no chain tensioner by design. Head gaskets can pop too. They actually did a 1.0 version of this engine in some markets. I can only imagine the horror
  7. This is the one, Pete.... And the J519 unit where the transistor lives....
  8. If I stick that part number in ebay there is quite a few of them.
  9. I should hope so
  10. The rev counter needle not moving during cranking tallies with that sensor being duff.
  11. Lower the light with plug still attached. Locate the brown/yellow wire at the light plug and run a wire from that to an earth on the car body. Does the light then come on?
  12. Your gearbox holds 2 Litres from empty.
  13. Fill until it starts to trickle from the fill hole. https://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/fabia-mk1/power_transmission/gearbox_02t/gearbox_mechanicsoperation_constructiondiff./inspecting_gear_oil/
  14. Out of interest, what model Fabia (engine) was it originally?
  15. Does it drive better now? No more bouncy-bouncy?
  16. ETKA says the oil is part number G 060726A2. It is indeed 75w90
  17. OK. I presume you've checked that the big plastic retaining ring is tight? If so, you might have to remove the pump and check the rubber seal.
  18. For info - the gearbox fill and drain plugs are near the differential. The type of plug used can vary....
  19. Seems they used two different bolt sizes, so you'd need to know which one you have. Unfortunately, I can't find any info on which of the two bolts were used on which box, but you could always try the lower of the two torques and see if it stops leaking (as long as the rubber seal is ok). Screw for reverse shaft support M6 - turn 5 Nm and 90° (part number N 90929102). M8 - turn 25 Nm and 45° (Part number N 90972701). always replace Here's a pic of the smaller size bolt.....
  20. It holds the reverse gear idler shaft....
