  1. Yeah I know what you mean. Try some neat washing-up liquid, it's far slippier than silicone.
  2. Mine was hard to get back on too. Needed a good push. It was a few years ago now but I think I put a bit of washing-up liquid on the bottom of the glass.
  3. If you've checked all of the clip locations on all of the shields, then maybe the catback is fouling against something or something is loose inside it, or maybe it just makes a crap noise. It has also been known for the insides of catalysts to break up and rattle. It's a difficult problem to sort out without seeing the car in the flesh.
  4. The exhaust heat shields under the car are a common source of rattles. They are held on with steel clips against the aluminium shields and because of the dissimilar metals the aluminium shields tend to corrode around the steel clips which leaves them free to rattle/vibrate. Clips and shield look like this... Some people make repair washers like this.... If you need any clips they are part number N90335004
  5. Either that or it might have had non-OE replacements in the past as modern car springs just love to snap.
  6. The factory springs have coloured paint splodges on them which can be helpful for identifying which part number you need (if you still have a factory one(s) fitted and the paint hasn't worn off). Like this....
  7. If you can't get the broken piece out, you could just swap that whole lid bit from the used pump you are getting.
  8. I thought the same thing. It just has that look about it.
  9. Yeah I know what you mean. I've always thought it was bad practice to only do a spring on one side. Always do mine in pairs.
  10. Could you do the rear springs yourself Tom? It's a very easy job, just disconnect the damper and pull the axle down enough to get the spring out. Was really easy when I did mine. Since they've already had the bolts out it will be even easier.
  11. So you asked him to fit four new springs, new rear dampers and front struts and he just did that mess? You must be livid!
  12. Yeah, should be just one of each.
  13. Buy a 1.4 mpi and you simply won't be able to thrash around
  14. You must mean 'sensor 2' as there is no 'bank 2' on 4 cylinder engines.
  15. Was yours damaged? They are pretty thin aren't they.
  16. AQW engine has no timing belt, so it must mean the timing chain.
