  1. The link is definitely for the 16v engine. VW like to confuse by calling everything 'MPI'.
  2. Since your Focus is an S-reg, I thought I'd share this pic of me in a brand-new S-reg Mondeo back in the day....
  3. I had a MK6 Escort Zetec. Loved that car. Very smooth engine and gave very little trouble overall.
  4. Even over a pit they jack it off its wheels. There would be no way to check the balljoints etc otherwise.
  5. They also let the wheels hang during the test though.
  6. Yeah, just ask John Wayne Bobbit.
  7. What's wrong with your old CV joints?
  8. Ouch! Your wee mateys were wrong
  9. I guess a IGN live from the radio connectors would be the closest.
  10. What about something like this?..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185464306528?
  11. Will you get two new front springs, Ryan, or just the one to save money?
  12. Was just thinking about the cluster again - I remember a guy on here called tombirch95 who totally wrecked his cluster by trying to change the LEDs. Even the speedo would no longer work So he bought a used cluster and wired standard type LEDs in to make it light up white
  13. Not ideal but big bonus that there's no corrosion, Ryan
  14. I had trouble with the temp needle alignment too. What I eventually did was to temporarliy plug the cluster in without its cover & with the temp needle loosely pushed on. I then got the engine up to normal temp and gently aligned the needle bang on 90 and pushed it in place. Been bang on ever since.
  15. Worse than going to the dentist 😁 Good luck, mate
  16. The only problem with swapping to red needles is that the two LEDs beneath each needle that illuminate them are green, but on the vRS they are red. The red needles might look a bit dull & an odd colour at night with the green LEDs on your car. I made a right pig's ear of mine & knackered my circuit board tracks trying to change the tiny SMD LEDs and ended up going back to white needles and mounting a green LED in the cluster cowl above each needle, which, admittedly, works marvelously, much to my huge relief because without the SMDs working you can't see the needles at night if it's really dark.
  17. This video shows how to remove the lock barrel....
  18. Another possibility is that the 'paddle' on the lock barrel is snapped off. Like this....
  19. Obviously don't know what part he's saying he's lost & whether that is the cause, but aside from that, if he's had the little door lock bowden cable off, it's possible that he's overtensioned it when refitting. They have to be set with no tension on them with the handle at rest or the lock will malfunction. There are teeth on the door handle end of the cable to adjust it. If you pull the door handle open you will see the end of the cable which engages in corresponding teeth in the handle.
